Yep, think about most recent (graphically) RTS games and running around there. It could look pretty decent. Even have a day/night cycle, etc.

Looks awesome! I would have preferred turn based combat, but it's not that important.
The main problem of the original was the lackluster presentation and ugly art style and after watching this trailer, I'm sure that this won't be an issue anymore.

Agreed, that's another FF game I've heard is excellent, and in particular, it seemingly being considered sort of the "capstone" to the old original series, makes it pretty appealing to me. FFIV and FFVI with their seemingly very vanilla (very fairytale-like) settings in comparison to some of the newer wacky stuff, ironically makes them seem pretty unique and interesting to me. Also I hear FFVI has a pretty unheard of twist mid game or something (I know more details than I should but won't bother mentioning in spoilers), which makes it also seem pretty unique.

To make it up to people I think if Square Enix does remake VI completely, that they should make it have a turn-based battle system. Maybe make some enhancements and modernize it, but keeping it turn-based would be a good way to keep the tradition going and pay homage to the roots of the series.

I love how this looks more like a reimagining than just a remake. I don't remember any of this from FF7 and I beat it twice. It looks like a solid game and I hope it pans out. I won't preorder because of my all digital stance but I will own this game upon release.
