Final Fantasy VII Remake is a multi-part series

I know for Square Enix this is a great decision but for people who want a remake it's absolutely not. We may be looking at $30-$60 pricing per episode and a wait of multiple years. I want this remake but it's just not worth it. It will not be a satisfying experience.

Once again people freaking out without knowing all the facts.

This could be more of a reimagining than people think. What if they add content and make the game longer but split it into different games? The world is plenty interesting and there are a lot of stories to tell.

Let's get more facts.

We have all the details they want us to have right now, and are responding to them. This isn't what anyone expected, and there isn't anything apparently positive. This is a hard fucking crash for a lot of us who were riding the hype train.

That should tell you something about the hype train and the dangers of riding it.

FF7 Remake contracted out to Iron Galaxy.

5)Genesis to have a role in FF7R

Pls no T_T

I would say FF7 being action based should be 3, but that's not necessarily his fault, whereas episodic content could be.

Yeah, my thought there too, but I personally like the action-based change, and to be honest they did kind of hint at it previously when they said the game wasn't just a visual facelift of the original.

what I posted sounds perfectly fine.

FF7 will be one game but there will be more prequel remakes and post game content telling the overall story. They have a lot of lore between crisis core, ff7, advent children, etc...

They plan on retelling the entire story but ff7 will still be its own game. That not only would be ok, it would be great.

This isn't what is happening. It's FF7. Just FF7. And it's being split into pieces.

I'll play the wait-and-see game for now, but I really hope that this means that the game will only be cut in parts so it can get out as fast as possible.
Each part matching the 3 cds would be awesome btw.

Lol at all the overreaction in this thread.

Chopping up the highly anticipated remake to a beloved and universally acclaimed classic into pieces is an overreaction? With potentially cut or reworked content to fit this new idio- eh, episodic narrative?

Stop the bad trolling.

The game being episodic is a billion times more likely than them taking the time to make a Crisis Core remake or actual new sequels like some people seem to be theorizing.

Not even necessarily a remake, but an HD remaster with added stuff. But still, while being episodic isn't something we should write off, nothing's really set in stone yet.

To me the "each part will be its own unique experience" is more worrisome than the episodic part of it.

My gut is they don't truly remake the entire FFVII game, and each part is just a random chunk of the story, the rest filled in by narration or cinematic sequences.

I have a feeling each part overall will be really short. Like 10 hours.

Again, just my gut, not basing it off of anything. Hope I'm wrong.

On one hand, it might mean it will release sooner than we think.

On the other, we'll have to wait months between episodes, most likely...

I'd guess more like 1-2 years between installments depending on how many they plan to do. Thinking more Starcraft II and less Telltale games.

It's a massive game I can see why it's being split into episodic games. I'll wait for the complete collection.

This is actually okay guys.

Man. From one of the most amazing trailers I've ever seen to ruined in 36 hours. Like...completely ruined. Do they not understand why FF7 is as revered as it is?

And let me be clear: I am assuming the hypotheses here are correct and they intend to cut the game away from an open, free, exploration based single player world. If there is a way to buy all episodes in one package and finish the game from start to finish in the same way the original happened, that is slightly better. But still, releasing a game one piece at a time is so fucking disastrous (from a story perspective) that I don't even want to think about it.

So what's the difference between an episodic game, and an unfinished game with far too much DLC?

Was Destiny episodic?

Just imagine, we'll end up with one half of the game available on PS4, and the other half on PS5. This is the future.

It's a massive game I can see why it's being split into episodic games. I'll wait for the complete collection.

This is actually okay guys.
See you in 2020

too early to judge.......and they have yet to explain what exactly is this "multiple-part series"

is it like StarCraft 2? or is it more like Resident Evil Revelations 2?

BUT, if we get part one Holliday 2016, part two Holliday 2018, part three Holliday 2020 and the master collection plus all the extras, in 2021, perhaps with a new console release, we all can all enjoy it as it comes. I personally would pay $200 for this remake. And if every release comes with an LE version, I'll put down more lol.
That sounds like an absolutely awful idea. Nice.

I stuck with them through the combat system stuff but this is just shit.

It's going to turn into a linear hallway just retelling the story, isn't it.

It's like every post you make gets dumber then the last.

I'm out of this thread. It's too much.

You can put me on ignore if you want. These are just my opinion. If you don't like then sorry? Plus tell me how you justify paying for this episodic BS when back in 97 we got the full game. Not waiting 3 years for the full release is not acceptable anymore? Oh wait they will milk customer with a property thats guaranteed to sell millions.

Why do Japanese developers think AAA remakes should be butchered into episodes?! Will there even be an open world then? If there is then what is the point of making it episodic? And levels and stuff will carry across saves? What the fuck Square?!

I don't see how you can make this an episodic experience when FF7's world map allows you to explore and go anywhere, unless they mean to only allow you to play select events in FF7 in a linear fashion.

Hey guys, maybe light at the end of the tunnel here. I have a theory/hope.

What if they made each part WAY more fleshed out now that they can focus on sections of the game. So lets say all of Midgar section is part 1, but it is way more expansive, more to do, etc etc.

I would kind of be ok with that.

So instead of cutting content to fit it on budget, they can break it piece meal but fit way more than they would have originally.
