Final Fantasy VII Rebirth | PC Review Thread

Any tldr about the improvements? Finished the game already on ps5 but I'm tempted to buy it again for pc. Only if there are significant improvements though. Or after some spicy mods get released

You can see them in this thread. Bojji Bojji has some. The improvements are not worth double dipping and replaying all over again unless the idea of playing a 130 hour title title again interests you. This game looks like how it did on PS5, playing it with slightly less pop in isn't going to make you enjoy the experience so much more than what you already went through.

I think a lot of people played it once on PS5 and are planning on playing Hard on PC, at least that's what I'm doing. Hard is almost a different game from Dynamic/Normal.

Yeah that's reasonable. Depends on the type of gamer you are. It's difficult for me to replay massive games like this just because it's competing with other new games I could be playing instead. I loved my time with FF7R, but it is a "one and done" for me personally. Most RPGs these days are.

People pay to play the game 3 days early. Don't act surprised that waiting a year is weird to me

Some people have self control and are willing to wait for something better. Much like process of distilling and barrel ageing fine spirits.

What self control? You can play the game twice lol.
The original release is almost identical to this one. let alone pro verison.
I am not playing every game on release too. Only the stuff I am very interested in. Don't think I am slobbing on everything that drops on the gaming floor lol

Remake's combat truly shined on Hard. Normal difficulty is a tutorial.
Rebirth - same thing, although more forgiving since you can abuse the Chocobo stops and heal. I replayed it on Hard , skipping all side quests , breezing though the main story. 25-30h hours I guess.

I loved Hard Mode in both Remake and Rebirth. It was sometimes hard but gave me so much satisfaction. Getting 100% in FF7 Remake was such a pleasure, but I'm still struggling with Rebirth ;)

Can you select Hard without finishing Normal first?

Unfortunately, I doubt it - but I'm not jumping in today or even this year. I'll most likely replay a year or less before Part 3, and just blow right through Normal, then Ill have Hard to entertain myself leading up to the months before Part 3.

To expand on the answer a little, it's also because the saves aren't cross-platform, and Hard requires you to have a high level party with end game materia, so it's impossible for it to work on a 1st playthrough. It's almost more like a continuation of the gameplay from the end of Normal, but it would be nice to have been able to carry over the PS5 save.

As others already mentioned, I don't think tht's an option. On PC there's "workarounds" like this

e: fuck me, wrong game. Something similiar will probably be available in the next couple of days for rebirth though.

none of the "upgrades" are worth waiting a year.
You are a fake gamer if you prefer to wait a year for a jump in fps rather than play a game you want to paly

There was a lot of other games for me to play when this released on PS5.
And I dont want to play on PS5 I want to play on my PC.
So waiting a year is NOT weird.

Exactly we are enthusiast, we want the best experience possible.
IF that means waiting for the PC version, then so be it.
If it was "back in the day" when there was maybe like 4 good games per year, so i could actually be starved for content, id be jumping in day one constantly.
But right now ive got games i own i havent started because my backlog is still heavy.
If anything waiting a year for the release is a godsend as I just act like the game simply never came out and clear what I can from my backlog till it drops.

<----Backlog is still heavy so not even starting this yet.

It’s the opposite for me. I feel back in 360/ps3 days we had more good singe player games in a month than in a year nowadays. Games are just too long now

Crazy that was not the case for me. I'm stuck in endless backlog hell. I just beat got the plat in Ys 8 and started KCD1. The amount of SP games I have on my backlog feels overwhelming. Just trying to take it one day at a time really. Some games I do everything others I just streamline the main quest.

People have different preferences and standards, plus a lot of PC gamers simply refuse to buy consoles because there is so much to play on PC anyway. Waiting a year for a better version is nothing, nobody wants to spend $500-$700 to play 1 or 2 games a year that will end up on PC a year later.

This is you in every PC thread

At the 4:00 minute mark you can see a horrific stutter when the boss comes out the water, also at 4:48 when the chocobo shits some magic, and again at 7:54 several times in succession when Cloud and Sephiroth perform the special attack.

And the lighting still sucks:

Another shit PC port to throw in the trash.
This was the biggest issue for me. I just don’t like their approach to lighting in these situations.

I keep seeing the mention of lighting improvements and how great it is, but it looked like it made the parts that were already great better, but not this.

Honestly their art style is great and it does the work, but this detracts from the other parts of the image that are high quality.

Then why didn’t he got ps5 pro to play the definitive version on release?
That’s nonsense. There is nothing better about pc version except 120 fps va 60 and that’s no reason to wait.
People are limiting their own fun for arbitrary reasons. Just say you weren’t that interested in the game. Why make bs.
New games need your support. Not old ports

And I think you think of me too negatively. “In every pc thread” my ass. You only see the posts you want because you don’t like me and you are a bitter pc fanboy.

What exactly am I bitter about? I game on PC so I go in PC gaming threads, and you are in the majority of them behaving like a horse’s ass. You are calling people fake gamers in this very thread for the crime of not buying a PS5. I see THE POSTS THAT YOU POST. I used to like you tbh but you have just become a weird troll.

I all not in majority of pc threads. I am in majority of threads in general. I can’t help that you don’t agree with my input here.
Idk what to say. Enjoy what you want.

Not that weird. There are so many games to play that even if I wanted to play everything that’s interests me I just don’t have the time. Next month alone Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Civilization 7, Avowed, Like a Dragon, and Monster Hunter Wilds is releasing. That is several months worth of games right there. By the time I get to the last game on that list 3 months would have passed and another 6 games that I am interested in would have released in the meantime. Combine that with backlogs that are increasingly getting bigger, waiting a year or two for even a great game doesn’t seem so strange.

Games are too big and long
Kcd2 and monster Hunter are both week long games if you play on the evenings.
I want to support games I like on release. My problem it’s not not buying games on release but not playing them. I really need to play more games. Last year was terrible for me. Maybe I needed a brak because I started this year with Wukong. I promised I would get it in disc and got it when ps5 version released. And yeah I loved it but 48 hours is 2x to much even if I liked all of it

Ok, I have not played FF7 since the PS1 days. When I first heard they split the remake into 3 damn games, I rolled my eyes and told myself I would wait for the complete edition. So this game is the second game. It will be 2 to 4 years before the 3rd and likely final game. I am guessing I should not touch this game unless I played the first game. I also wonder if my plan to wait for the complete ultimate legendary edition is a good idea. I also wonder how true these remakes are to the original.

Lets just put it this way... structurally the story hasn't changed at all.

The problem with waiting is that Part 1 is a 30+ hour game and Part 2 is 40++. That's just like the bare minimum, doing none of the side quests or any of the minigames other than what's required.

I assume Part 3 will be closer to Part 1 in length.

IOW, I bet they will offer a trilogy package but people who buy it will never finish.

Neat I chose to just play and enjoy these graet games instead.

I’ve not played the og but I feel like I got what was needed out of remake and rebirth.
Everyone knows the thing happening in the og. But what some people don’t know is that it’s really a sequel in a stupid way. Kinda can serve as both
