Got some bad points sure, but it looks phenomenal if you are not too anal about it.

Games had few good looking locations but it was like 33% at most. Rest looks bad.

I think Remake looks better overall (minus destroyed midgard chapter).

Many reasons for the visual quality being mixed, including way way bigger maps, more asset variety and geometry, character models double the poly counts, rendering all characters on screen at once when traversing + their chocobo's and other things too.

All things considered such as the size and variety of the game, the above and with a 3-4 year dev time Rebirth is an impressive accomplishment for the devs and visual on PS5 hiccups are just the trade off for that.

Let's see how improved the PC version ends up being.

It's not impressive at all in my opinion..

Only dev time but it came with huge quality compromises (both in graphics and story/gameplay).

These games should be upgraded to unreal engine 5. I think it was mistake to keep it on unreal 4. Fans did not see a big wow upgrade and the sales were not good
God no. The last want we need is the PC ports to have five times the stuttering they have right now, without help from modders.

You're referring to texture quality? I think Rebirth on PS5 suffers from the same texture bug issues that Remake had on the PS4.

I know feature trailer's are usually carefully curated to put the game in the best light possible, and Square Enix PC ports still feels pretty bare bones by modern standards compared, but this doesn't look too bad. They still need to sort out things like UW and FSR/XESS support which is fast becoming standard practice now.

My two major concerns for the PC port were the dreaded open-world UE4 traversal stutter which no studio has managed to resolve without upgrading to UE5, and asset pop-in at close distances in the world which were quite distracting at times, and more noticeable at higher resolutions on PS5/Pro. Another minor concern was the lighting when you exit and enter caves/dungeons/houses etc.

On the Nibelheim trek footage, you can still see a little pop-in, but it looks a lot less noticeable. Elsewhere, there's seemingly no traversal stuffer.

I hope that's the case when the game releases.

Claiming this looks worse than Remake is ridiculous. I've played both recently on PC and PS5 Pro, and Rebirth blows it out of the water, visually, for the most part. Midgar during the day was not good to look at.

PS5 Pro users were what 1% of Sony customers? They still made a patch for it.

I understand why they didn't bother since the game is cutscenes heavy and reframing them is a load of work. Remake's hack has problems (characters appearing from nowhere, model textures unloading, doors disappearing) on stuff that's supposed to be out of frame, but this whole schtick I hear time and time again about low user percentage is not a good excuse.
Don't games get ultrawide mods on pc?

Remake did. That's what I alluded too. Problem is most games aren't really framed for the extra fov when it comes to cutscenes. CG scenes can be stretched if you're really unlucky, or in Remake's case zoomed so you lose vertical portions of a scene.

The in-engine cutscenes (which are the vast majority) are usually fine, but occasionally have some glitches, like characters appearing from thin air, missing props etc as the scene was setup for a 16:9 viewport.

In-game running about they are usually flawless. Only issue with Remake was the map view was glitched to the point it was useless and one minigame with the pressure pumps in the sewers was broken UI wise as the area you had to release the button in was incorrect using the hack.

Remake was not open world. It had relatively small linear locations. I would not compare the two.

Edit please do not throw your PS5 in the trash bring it to a recycling center!

Already finished it on PS5 but will buy it again just for that sweet mod support and the fact that it's only 36€ on cdkeys.
