Listening to some OSTs to get hype. There's some really great music in the prequels if nothing else. I never really took the time to appreciate Across The Stars until now. It's beautiful

Agreed. I could imagine George Lucas taking John Williams aside and saying "John, you're going to have to carry alot of water for me here....."

Across the Stars was a nice tune, but nowhere near the heart as the Han'Leia theme.

Bad acting aside, what should have been done to make Padme and Anakin's romance more believable? Was it the age discrepancy between the two, or were there more faults at play?

And could the whole forbidden romance angle have worked under a more competent director?

I feel like a lot of the stuff in the prequels could have been good, even great. Much of the failure was in execution rather than premise.

For one there was absolutely zero chemistry between Anakin and Padme. Whether that's script, direction, or simply two incompatible actors - I don't know.

The other main problem is that we never really get to see them fall in love. We go from child Anakin in TPM to the guy in AOTC who is already crazy about her. There's not nearly enough buildup. The only way I can see it working is if Anakin is already older in Episode I and that plants the seeds for a romance that takes off in Episode II (Kind of like Han/Leia in the OT)

Stay on target!

tears of joy.

Going to see it in four hours (something great in this country, movies have their premieres 2 days before usa).

Expecting a good movie, trying to keep hype in check.

How dependant is this on the previous movies? Can I watch this with my wife who hasn't seen any of them?

You don't need to watch the prequels, you could watch the OT, but apparently the movie does a good job at introducing the OT characters. It's a movie also done for the newcomers.

Kind of annoyed that JJ seemed to again have pulled a JJ, in that
it's apparently mostly a rehash, didn't read any major plot points but I'm half predicting Rey getting training from Luke in a swamp next episode
, but the scores are great. Really great.

Watched a couple of non-spoiler reviews and I'm only MORE excited now. I think folks with reasonable expectations are going to be blown away and folks with very high expectations are going to be mostly satisfied from the sounds of things.

Still desperately trying to keep my shizz in check.

I'll view it tonight, i'm so faking hyped ! This day gonna be a long long long day.

Despite my hype and anticipation I've somehow managed to keep my expectations grounded the entire time

All I want is better than prequels.

Guys I kid you not... I'll be seeing it tonight at 20:30 (its 09:51 now) and I feel so giddy, pumped, geeked and happy.

I can't wait for those blue and yellow letters to pop up :D

I asked some classes that I teach who would like to go and see the movie with some of their teachers and even kids that haven't seen the originals want to go.

This is a magical ride which I am thoroughly enjoying, I hope that all of you will have a
deathstar
blast!

Well folks, with people seeing it in a few hours and reviews out now, it's time for me to bid farewell.

I shall be back in 48 hours once I've seen the movie myself.

May the Force be with you all

I'm looking at a lot of reserved seating around my area (LA) and there is still a lot of seats available. Expected more but I don't doubt people are just going to go on the day of and get seats to whatever they can.

Less than 15 hours to go. Midnight screening at the BFI IMAX.

I don't know how I'm going to get through today, I literally can't contain my excitement.

I'm not one to be influenced by reviews at all, but 100% positive on Rotten Tomatoes so far is pretty damn awesome.

I'm even going to buy popcorn and a large fanta for this at the cinema rather than bring my own, tonight is so special.

HYPE.

How does this rotten tomato score works? What does 100% means?
Means that all reviews counted are positive, therefore it aggregates out to a 100% positive rating. However it should be slightly less, one rotten review just came out meaning it's probably about 99% in reality

How does this rotten tomato score works? What does 100% means?

100% means that out of all the critic reviews, 100% found the movie worth seeing o"fresh". That doesn't mean it's a 10/01 movie per sae, as a critic can rate a movie a 4/5 which counts as fresh still. In general, it means that everyone (critic) who has seen the movie liked it, which is a good indicator that it is worth seeing.
