S-E is really doing a smart job at making the series relevant again with the expansion to smartphones and PC.

I'm glad that more people will have a chance to play this game. I really hope Square-Enix doesn't mess with it too much and puts real care into remastering this game. It's difficult for me to trust Square-Enix with the older Final Fantasy games when they have a pretty awful record in handling them, which is why I am usually not in favor of them messing with any of the older games.

Oh man, this always jumped back and forth in my top three Final Fantasy games (swapped with IV, VI is always #1). I will buy the hell out of this, but I just did a complete play through in the last year. Going to be a bit before playing again.

Eh... Final Fantasy 9 was always such a huge disappointment coming off of 8 which is probably still the best game in the series. 9 was just so vanilla in comparison with a really basic story. Nice to see it find an expanded audience but I really hope they speed up the molasses battle system.

9 is good but every other FF from 6 onwards is better. Zidane also happens to be the worst protagonist in the series, what a trash character.

No, Zidane is unique character, he had far more relevance than Van and importance to the story as he didnt lose his main role after first hour of the game.

I haven't played IX in years. I've been wanting to replay it for a long time, but never can get around to it. I'll wait and see. If the backgrounds don't look too terrible on PC, I may get it. If they look too bad, I may just stick to the PS1 version on Vita.

The You're Not Alone scene is probably one of the most memorable parts in the game for me. I think it would be awesome fully voiced, but that is wishful thinking.

I don't really get the complaints about lack of a console version- if they ported FF7 to PS4, it's hard to believe they won't also do 8 and (now that it's getting a PC version) 9. They just don't want to announce it until later due to the fact that for whatever reason they're not doing it day-and-date with PC/mobile and don't want to hurt their day one sales due to people who want to wait for the confirmed console port.

Which is actually kind of weird when you think about it, considering that the Japanese industry's pattern has mostly been the other way around- announce it only for consoles even if you've already decided it'll be on PC, then confirm the PC port after you've gotten most of the sales you're going to get out of the console version.
