are you sure you just haven't downloaded the previous updates for the game? just making sure
No idea. I didn't have any queued downloads yesterday. :/
I noticed it because it kept making my steam bar on my start bar flicker orange.

Why should fan hype matter? Fuck fans. They all be babies, anyway! In one of the later Midnights around the globe? maybe
I can't see how HL3 can ever come out because it will never live up to fan hype. Sorry![]()

Looks like the update is likely old. Poked around the discord chat and they're all dismissing it.

/u/DevinWatson found a hidden prompt on the store page. The prompt got implemented on December 24th.
Entering "94050999014715" (the barcode on the top left here, from the cover of the comic (now removed) ) on the store page of Hitman: Code 47 returns "ic/4f21ca7"
Entering the "4f21ca7" as an appendix to the comics url ( http://store.steampowered.com/wintercomic/4f21ca7 , because /wintercomic/4f21ca7) lets you access a sound file - A man saying "I was on the right track, I could feel it. Tomorrow, I was going to search again" The .wav is from the 24th.
Searching "blitzen" in the steam store leads to Grim Fandango Remastered. Entering "hot toddies and maseratis" (the password to Tinker's, the club from page 6 ) in the hidden prompt from (1) redirects to Undertale
/u/blinkroot found out: Entering "bullet hell" on Undertale's search prompt redirects us to Ikaruga. Bullet Hell is a tag from Undertale.
The Valve employee ChrisK/FireSlash has the "Red Herring"-badge with the description "ARG?". On his profile there is a (pressumed) hash: 2cdeda75c0afb5c4a7a45dfe978315f6. His last played games are: Undertale, Ikaruga and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - First Assault Online.
I am trying so damn hard not to fall for this. But damn if some of this isn't exciting as hell!

Remember when Valve cancelled a big space game...?
Good evening, ladies and gentlemen and members of STEP-UP. We regret to inform you that the communications link with our reconnaissance beacon SOP-TAS1 has ceased. N-band analysis of the last transmission indicate SOP-TAS1 is still active, however the decrypted transmission also contained the following message:"We are not ARG, nor BORG, nor a plain herring. We are indispensably."
From the Meridian Room in the Park Plaza in New York City, we now bring you the music of Ramón Raquello and his orchestra. With a touch of the Spanish. Ramón Raquello leads off with "La Cumparsita."

Seems like that means it's not related haha. (Or it's another blatant red herring, like the badge dun dun dun.)

A bit old, but here's what they have:
Typing in a code at the Ikaruga page will give users a Red Hearing Badge: https://www.reddit.com/r/steamsaled...ugas_password_is_1v7531_and_it_gives_you_the/
Second WAV file found: https://www.reddit.com/r/steamsaledetectives/comments/3yyh8t/new_wav_found/
My thoughts: The Grim Fandango and Undertale connections are that these games both have a noir art style to them. Grim Fandango is a Noir point and click adventure game, Undertale has a stark black and white art style. Ikaruga gives a red hearing badge because it doesn't fall under those categories. Though interestingly enough, the gameplay in Ikaruga uses a black and white bullet mechanic. Maybe there is a connection to the colours black and white?![]()
Also, the hidden pixel images of the Crowbar and Lambda symbol are in black in white too when you alter the black and white levels.
The disappointing thing about this is that like those games, the comic itself has a noir style. So once again, this could all just relate to the ending of the comic.
People are saying there's a beta update for HL2.I've been monitoring updates for various Valve related products but there hasn't been anything yet.
Just waiting for yet another addition to the ending of Portal 2. :lol
I do hope this is more substantial than simply being related to the ending of the comic or something.
I want to believe, but I've been hurt too bad. *cries softly*ARGs take months to create. What you're saying is possible but why spend that long on something for the ending to a comic that less than 1% of the steam userbase reads?
I'm sure there are a couple people running through City 17 right now, checking if there's something new hidden anywhere.People are saying there's a beta update for HL2.
But they update their games all the time for various reasons, so.
Also maybe it's a beta that's existed for a while.
the link that suppose to give badge is not working.
Don't use the link, use the instructions -- open the Ikaruga store page in Internet Explorer (or Chrome), type "SEARCH" in the search box without quotes and press enter, and then enter the 1v7531 password in the box that comes up.the link that suppose to give badge is not working.

you are suppose to type the word: "search" (without the quotes) into the search bar, and it should open up a new password box.
It was something that I tried too, but couldn't get to work either. Maybe there was a limited number of red hearing badges?
What?!Not the search box, just type it on the page. Similar to entering the GAF Gold easter egg on GAF.

If that doesn't work either, Internet Explorer should do it.![]()
It works in Firefox. Got the badge just now.

http://kotaku.com/5959953/valve-was-once-making-a-space-pirate-game
The initials for the game were going to be "SOB"
Plot twist: "What you want to work on" at Valve turns out to be ARGs.Valve has done it before, they made a TF2 ARG that ending in the release of a TF2 comic (though that comic did tie into the release of the MVM gamemode, which was a pretty major new co-op gamemode for TF2).
Undertale is a bullet hell game as far as I know.I'm not getting how they figured out to enter "Bullet Hell" on the Undertale page, unless they were just trying anything they could think of.
I feel like the Portal 2 announcement ARG was so much cooler than every ARG they've done since. Come to think of it, I wonder what Adam Foster's doing these days.
I'll actually be a little surprised if L4D3 misses 2016.
