Nakamura will be nowhere near as cool in the WWE. Won't have a cool entrance theme/titantron. Same with Styles. Nakamura will get like traditional Japanese music with shamisen and flutes. Styles will get like emo/metalcore butt rock. And they'll have their move set neutered. AJ Style's new finisher will be a punch or a boot to the face.
well that sweet submission he had in the last period in the could work on wwe

So these signings co-incide with the release of the WWE Network in Japan which seems to be the major force behind them.

Beyond removing the creative responsibility for creating an organic, WWE made Balor club, this whole move feels like some IWC pandering. I have no idea what they are going to do with a guy like AJ who is on his last legs and is completely focused on work-rate and the minimal, in ring NJPW form of character work which is the antithesis to what Vince seems to be interested in. Nakamura can't speak English, he's destined for a dancing gimmick and is more busted up than most people already on the roster. Anderson probably has the most potential out of all the troupe, given that he can talk, work a WWE style and will probably fit right back in with Fergal. Gallows will be in the dream 4 way with Henry, Show and Stroman that Vince will er, appreciate, I'm sure.

Seriously we are going to get a few dream matches, have the guys characters probably ruined and unable to draw, then their bodies are going to explode and 2 years down the line they won't have much to show for it other than maybe some brief interest in the WWE Network in Japan? If this company can't make a dude like Dean Ambrose or Cody Rhodes a star (two guys with great looks, good WWE style in ring and fantastic talkers) then what hope is there for a Nakamura or AJ?

Business wise, it's hard to argue against this move. Nakamura is probably crazy expensive and AJ wouldn't have done it for anything less than 500k a year downside either, but lets face it, they'll make most of that money back based off of those two's merch sales alone.

Only if they handle them right though. :/

Aka the guy who "won" the match, but then lost the title due to DQ after the fact. Also, the guy who can't use even 25% of his moveset for some reason (maybe coz he's the "lunatic fringe"). Stop screwing up, WWE!

The salt is real, and genuine.

I thought AJ for one looooved working in New Japan. The work schedule was not too heavy, and as he was getting beat up at the end of last year, can he really take on doing a far more active schedule?

I know there's that WWE appeal because they're numero uno in terms of wrestling scope, but the two main grabs have styles almost entirely contrasting what WWE is about now. WWE is about nonsense stories to justify in-ring work, while New Japan is largely focused on in-ring work first and foremost.

Look at the main event scene between WWE and New Japan. One is entirely about making a guy look strong because he's very lacking and Vince wants this guy to be the company man, and the other is full of hard hitting wrestlers that no matter who the company pushes, they're pushing genuine talent. One also doesn't fall apart when you start looking further down the card as easily.

I am sad right now because they are going to handle Nak badly. I can feel it. I actually think his character could have a great feud with Cena if they let Nak be wild and don't book it one sided to make Cena look strong. At least they are paying AJ good money to do damage to his name and not the bird feed they wanted to give him all the other times to ruin his name.

I thought that calling Nakamura someone with the charisma of Freddie Mercury showed they saw something huge in him, then I remembered Joey Styles runs the website and knows his shit.

Good, more people for Reigns to spear and knockout

You know its true. Yell "salt" all you want, the only salt will be in your junk food that you consume to make yourself feel better after Nakamura is beaten by Ryback on a random Shit Show Smackdown episode.

There is a ceiling for a japanese wrestler, Nakamura aint doing shit. They will cut his hair, tone down his mannerisms, and his gimmick will be a malnourished North Korean guy who hates THE USA that Jack Swagger will beat up to get his heat back, brother.

And AJ with his SOUTHERN' AXAENT' AINT GOIN NUWERE with WWE thinking. He can hope for a Slammy in 2016 with Most Disgusting Moment Of The Year when he is ordered by Heath "Heat" Slater to drink a bucket of horse piss on live TV.

This is also why Styles runs WWE.com and isn't on the booking committee working Creative. Expressly BECAUSE he knows his shit. They don't want folks like that involved in decision-making and angle/character development.

I haven't watched WWE in over a decade, but I might start again if they get Shinsuke Nakamura.
You will immediately regret this decision.

Worst part about all of this is it seems that they are going to skip NXT. So we won't even get 3 months of awesomeness out of Syles/Nakamura.

That's the alternate reality where WWE no longer exists because they would have gone bankrupt and purchased by Ted Turner if they tried to build their company around Bret's greasy ass.

No way. It was WCW's destiny to go under.

Plus Vince picking Bret over the Kliq would have resulted in us getting Bret vs Austin at WM14 instead of Austin vs a broken HBK. Bret vs Austin was always the superior feud.

Probably the only time I'll ever wish that AJ Lee was still in WWE so they could change AJ Styles' name and give him an AJ Lee stalker gimmick to explain why he has a huge AJ tattoo on his body.

Nakamura does speak English actually. Not fluently but enough that he can speak in it, unlike Asuka or Itami.

You're right, there never has been a Japanese WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Also, how tall is Nakamura? He was towering over AJ, unless AJ is small.

He's 6'2, fairly unusually tall for a Japanese wrestler these days. Taller than Cena and about as tall as Reigns, which will probably help him overall.

I have zero faith in WWE using these men right. The last, how many years has proven the case time and time again.

Superb talent, but I don't want to see them jobbed out because they haven't paid dues and what they did elsewhere means nothing. Let alone all the times Stephanie will probably get in their faces and basically tear them to shreds.

All in all universal WWE issues.

Wait do people hate the Styles Clash all of a sudden? I always thought it was one of the more popular moves. Yeah i know that someone was injured by it but that doesnt mean the move is bad, just that somoene didnt do their job properly with the move or an accident happened.

Granted i havent been following Styles much since i stopped watching TNA at least a year or 2 ago so maybe more has happened than i realise.

It's actually a super safe move. It's just if it's used poorly, it's very bad.

Considering there is a Divas who uses the clash as their finisher, why would they get rid of it?

Spoiler: don't tuck your fucking head.

Does WWE only deal with out of nowhere finishers now i assume? Havent watched it properly in years but i do follow whats going on by reading up about it.

Wasn't the Styles Clash used as the Faithbreaker or something by Michelle McCool. It can be the safest or most dangerous move so long as its done properly. That said, I wouldn't mind if Calf Killer or Bloody Sunday became his main finisher with the Styles Clash brought out on special occassions/specific opponents (that know how to take the move)

Ive gotten back into WWE over the last so many months. I don't think the main issue is talent. I think they have some great talent like Rollins. Its just the storylines that are bad and I hate beating a dead horse since I know the rest of the community will but their writing of Roman has been bad too.

It was. But even then the IWC got on her about it.

If Kevin Owens/Steen can get by without using the Package Piledriver, Styles can do something with the Clash.

Let's be fair. We don't know the terms of their contract.
