Serkan Toto Rumor: Bandai Namco making several NX games, including a Smash for launch

So does this mean NX is comparable with GC controllers?

On a mission now to find out.
Will report back never.

I mean, they're USB peripherals with a very simply protocol that can very straightforwardly be made to work on PC. I can't see them not being forward compatible.

"What is the incentive to buy?"

Smash Bros. for Wii U, but portable.

So, the same game that is already available on the 3DS, but prettier? Considering that graphics are historically among the least important aspects of handheld gaming, that wouldn't be a very appealing concept.

Ok try this exercise

Imagine how the smash scene would be affected if they only made the 3DS version

Smash 4 doesn't come close to replacing Melee or even scratching similar itch. Forgive me for liking Melee better and preferring to play that instead.

Nope i dont forgive you

Lol are you really gonna turn this into one of this threads?

I stated a simple opinion in a sea of opinions. If you guys can't handle me saying that I prefer to keep playing Melee than buy another copy of smash 4 and would rather jump on me and call me embarrassing that's on you.

That's fine and all. But then why are you here? To express how much you like Melee?

"I'm gonna thread shit about how much I like melee and don't like smash 4"

Is it wrong of me to make a comment about not being intersted in a game and then giving reasons for it? On a message board people discuss things and if it makes you feel better just pretend I had instead said "I'm done playing 4 and have no interest buying a port"

All I did is say I'm not interested and gave my reason why. I didn't say Melee was better or that 4 was bad, I didn't insult other people's opinions or for them having opinions. What I said was simple and non-inflammatory

Smash super turbo with a new season of updates. Add in the ability to turn stage hazards off. Plus give us the option to select WHICH pokeballs and assist trophies we want showing up.

Seriously...dying to items, smash balls, pokeballs, assist trophies, and stages that are ALL pretty much instakill hazards is garbage. Give us control of those options. Lord knows I love the stages in Smash Wii U/3DS but I can never enjoy them due to hazards and if I go omega mode the things are ALL just reskins of final Destination which misses the point entirely of wanting an option to turn off hazards. My god the 3ds earthbound stage with no hazards would be sooooo good...

Aside from those dreams I'd also like a point system that I earn so I can BUY custom moves specifically. Roulette collectibles and randoms are fun but they KILLED a lot of chances for this stuff at tourney. Make an easy way to unlock that stuff, and transfer it to a player ID so folks can use their customs at tourney. I mean if we can bookmark mario maker stages to an account why cant we load data to some Nintendo made NFC storage device thats like a "Smash tournament player medal"? Just save your custom character loadout to your account online, use the NFC device to put that info on your medallion, and then at tournaments whip out your medal to play your custom moveset. SIMPLE! Plus its profitable.

I'd also hope for a "Melee Mode" that puts in Wave dashing, Short Hop Fast Fall L canceling and lets other general cancels rock that were getting hammered on like shine to shield, veggie canceling, and needle cancel style stuff (not certain how many are left).

These are my dreams for a Smash 4 Super Turbo edition. IF they had some of that I'd be on it at launch.

I hope it's a port with all the 3DS, Wii U, and past games stages that brings back all the old characters, Pokeballs, and Assist Trophies, increases the number of Pokeball/Assist Trophies in play at once, and adds an Adventure Mode.

That's the bare minimum I want. I'd be happy to see new characters and stages too.

Considering the timeframe here (most likely a November 2016 release), I don't think there's a chance we'll get any new characters. There also the fact that, you know, Sakurai himself said they're done adding content to the game.

I'm hoping they at LEAST add all of the 3DS stages to the NX version, but I'm not holding my breath.

Also, the Gamecube adapter better be compatible with NX or there will be hell to pay.

It's happening, I said it would happen and...

well, most people agreed that it was within reason!

But seriously, I'm glad they're doing this. It would be really unfortunate if Smash was left to die on the Wii U.

Question though - if Sakurai wanted to deceive people, wouldn't he logically say something like that, since it could be interpreted as referring to only 3DS and Wii U?

The idea of a "Melee Mode" was always perplexing to me. Has any developer who's making a sequel to a game ever included an option to make it play like any previous game? In Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts we didn't get a "Traditional Mode" that gives Banjo/Kazooie their moves back and turns the game into a traditional platformer
would of been nice though

It's basically developing two different games at once, which I think is kind of a waste of time.

Doesn't REmake on PS4 let you play it like RE4?

See what you did Anura

You lit the bat signal for melee players to derail the topic

Lol

Come off it. I said a simple thing and if you want to stop talking about then just drop it. There was no hidden motive or scheme and it's sad people assume that the minute Melee is mentioned.

Stop responding to me because at this point I'm going to stop responding to you all. I didn't mean to derail

Technically he said he's done adding stuff to the 3ds/wii u version/ grasping at straws ;)

The timeframe is what makes me think they WILL add more characters. that's 9~ months from the last smash 4 wiiu/3ds dlc. Sakurai said they started making DLC characters once smash 4 wrapped (presumably summer/fall of 2014) and mewtwo came out <9 months from that. Not to mention sakurai has talked about having playable versions of ice climbers that they had to cut for hardware restrictions - so the work on those characters is at least partially complete. I'd bet we'd get any characters that were cut due to hardware (but already prototyped) and maybe 1-2 more that can be created within a 9 month window.

I wonder how long we would have to wait until we hear something about NX itself. I guess It might be E3 this year.

My prediction is april for hardware announcement with maybe a game or two, and E3 with more games and generic launch info (coming this holiday season) and a fall press conference/direct with the exact date, launch lineup, launch window, and 'future' game announcements.

LMAO, alright, you're right.

Well, Sakurai did say they had the Ice Climbers working on the Wii U but cut them for parity. They're certainly possible, if not likely.

Personally, I'd be happy if:

1. We got all 3DS and Wii U stages + DLC stages
2. We got all DLC characters
3. General tweaks to weak stuff, like Smash Tour and fixes to Tournament mode
4. We got Ice Climbers, Wolf, Inkling, Chorus Kids, and King K. Rool
5. Custom moves are unlocked from the start
6. Smash Run

Well, it's not necessary to be November 2016. If I remember it correctly, did Nintendo said that their next 6 months after release date of new console is considered as launch games, right?

If it's best interest for everyone, I think we should wait until Sakurai or Nintendo make their comments on Smash Port itself in the future before we getting too excited and hyped for it.

I'd be curious to know whether or not an NX version of Smash 4 would support the Gamecube controller adapters. I mean it HAS to, right? I can see a lot of angry Smash fans if a Smash Bros. game released without Gamecube controller support.

Of course, it might not be needed if Nintendo decided to make a Wavebird 2.0 the standard controller for the NX.

I wouldn't be surprised if the newest financial report contains the "announcement of the announcement", i.e. revealing when they plan to formally unveil NX. And then the official reveal of the concept will likely happen in March or so, with the full console and games at E3.

True. Nintendo shouldn't put toooooo many eggs in one basket at NX launch - of course put some great titles out at launch but be sure to save some for 2017. I think SSB is a logical launch game, and if not right at launch, perhaps in December/a couple weeks after like Melee in NA/Japan. Great opportunity to sell systems, games, amiibos... it's a logical holiday release.

I'm expecting it and Zelda U will be the main "Wii U port" titles at launch, with other ports (like maybe Xenoblade X or Tropical Freeze) spread throughout 2017.

If it's best interest for everyone, I think we should wait until Sakurai or Nintendo make their comments on Smash Port itself in the future before we getting too excited and hyped for it.

This is true too, heh.

How else will they be able to sell you GameCube VC?

Though TBH, I just want them to accomplish that by making a controller that can perfectly emulate GameCube inputs!

Shush, don't hype everyone! ;) Thankfully, Bayonetta and Corrin are going to be out next month so I don't really need to think about Smash NX right now.

If it's just direct port then I'm still going to pick it up regardless if it have new contents or not.

Oh oh, I know what I want the most out of smash for NX.

A fixed character select screen. No clone corner. No DLC corner. Everyone with their franchise.

This as well. Dark Pit, Lucina, and Dr. Mario being in their own corner away from everyone else, while other clone characters aren't was very odd.

Also all custom moves unlocked from the start and custom moves for DLC characters.

Its a simple USB adapter

Easy peasy

That's fine and all. But then why are you here? To express how much you like Melee?

People do this all the time in other threads?

You post a thread about Gears 4 looking good. "Nah man, Gears 2 is the only game I'll play". There's really not a big reason for everyone here to jump on him, especially as plenty of others mentioned not buying this unless there's extra content. To him, this is extra content.

Christ, it wasn't even a hostile post.

A Smash 4 port with all of the DLC included wouldn't be surprising.

Wouldn't be shocked if they added in a couple of new characters as a selling bonus. I'm not expecting anybody new, but the returns of Ice Climbers (since there's no 3DS version holding this back) and Wolf would be welcome.

While they shouldn't be separate, they likely separated them because they were added at the last minute.

EDIT: Also, Brittany, Ashley, and Midna must all be added :v
