Anyone else rocking the SRGB mode for better colour accuracy? It's jarring at first but so much better after a couple of days getting used to it.
You know what was jarring at first? Booting it up for the first time and seeing the default colours.

The Gold 6P's are $50 off at the Google Store and other places too. NewEgg is doing $50 off with a free 11,000mAh portable battery pack.

Can I make it so that notifications don't group together if there's more than one from the same app?

I wanna be able to see what the individual notifications are, not just "2 notifications from ____"

So, its normal for the stock messaging app not to make a sound when you get a sms/mms while on a call, right? I don't care for that much :/

I've decided to leave the 5X family, after much trepidation. I just bought the gold 5P from NewEgg.

I couldn't accept the 5X's low RAM, small battery, or tinny mono speaker anymore.

My only worry, is that I'm not prepared for the 6P's size. But still -- I'm excited to join the 6P family. Took me a 2 months to realize I have premium needs.

I'll give a follow-up for catharsis.
EDIT: Good news! They called me about 7 hours later to tell me that I am getting a replacement! They said I should have been given a replacement off the bat (as I first reported the issue within 28 days). It should take another two weeks for me to get the phone.
I sent the phone back to them for them to send me a replacement, as they asked. When I called up yesterday for a follow-up as it was taking a long time, they said they were sending it back to me and not a replacement. They reneged on the replacement they told me they were sending me. They refused to acknowledge the fault. When I escalated the complaint, they said they would call me back within the hour. They hadn't called back four hours later so I called back, and at this time I was told the higher up department had closed for the night, and for the weekend. I was told they'd get back to me in three to five business days.

Fuck Virgin Mobile.

You'll love it, it's better in every single way. And as for the size you'll get used to it and learn to live it

So my 6P started getting pop-ups since yesterday. I had updated all my apps yesterday, so something in the app updates is the cause. The weird thing is all the apps on my 6P are installed from Play Store. The install from other source option is disabled from day 1 too.

This is seriously depressing as I switched to Android from iOS after almost 8 years and the first "virus" sort of behavior is happening on a Nexus. I might switch back in fall this year if this happens just one more time.

Time to reset the device and setup the whole thing again.

you don't use Hotspot shield do you?

I get the feeling there might be something wrong with my display. There's pretty noticeable "bars" of pink and blue that move across the screen when viewed from an angle, even a slight one.

I know AMOLED screens tend to rainbow out at extreme angles, but this is much worse than any other device I've used, and it's very apparent when I compare it to my old Samsung. I pretty much have to look at it straight on to not get any distortions in the color.

Is anyone else's like this? If it's just how the panel is I'd rather return it than waste my time getting a replacement.

When you say popups, do you mean ad popups in the notification bar?

Has anyone used wired headphones with this? How is the audio volume? I hated the Nexus 5 because audio volume was too low. Could barley listen to podcasts unless I was in a quiet area.

It's fine. Maybe ever-so-slightly more quiet than my last phone on the highest volume but it gets plenty loud enough.

Does anyone else have issues using headphones with in-line controls? I am pausing and unpausing my audio a lot throughout the day and it will always pause immediately, but unpausing it is unreliable. Often times I'll hit unpause and if the screen isn't awake, it won't immediately begin playing music/podcasts again if I wait it will sometimes be like 5-15 seconds before music starts playing again. It's a really annoying issue.

It's a problem on two separate headphones I've tried.

Make sure the cable is seated all the way in the port. It could think you're disconnecting and reconnecting them

It's not that. I thought that might have been the issue initially, and then I thought maybe it was my headphones, but I tried a new pair and even seated well it remains an issue. I can hit the unpause button the inline control with the phone in my hand and nothing will happen, but the second that I hit the power button to wake up the phone the audio starts playing again.

I have the exact same issue. Skipping songs is also incredibly unreliable. Was flawless on my N5 with the same headset. No idea what the cause may be.

Hey everyone!

I now have the opportunity to get a 6P. Any owners here got anything to say about it before I take the plunge? I know these threads wind up being psuedo-troubleshooting threads, so you get to see a lot of problems and may skew it's overall impressions. In general though, anything I should know about?

I'm coming from a 2013 moto x and looking for a high end stock Android experience BTW.

You will get a high-end stock experience with the 6P.

I owned the Nexus 5 and the Nexus 6, just to keep that stock experience. Both times it felt like I had to make compromises in order to have that stock experience (camera, battery life, etc) vs high-end Samsungs, etc.

The 6P is, in my opinion, the first Nexus/stock devices that has no major compromises. The camera is fantastic, battery life is great, performance is top notch.

The fingerprint scanner is probably my favorite new feature. I like to have protection on my phone, but patterns/codes get annoying. The scanner is fast.

You won't be disappointed, especially at the new price point.

Speaking from personal experience, you won't be disappointed. When I first got the Nexus 6p and compared it to the Moto X 2013, the Nexus felt massive. The insanely smooth Android experience and overall speed boost makes you forget about the larger footprint over time. The fingerprint scanner will also feel familiar since it mimics the dimple on the Moto X (and it's pretty darn fast at unlocking the phone). Front facing speakers help to enhance the experience of watching videos. The most important factor for me is the guarantee of updates (unlike Motorola taking an eternity to get Lollipop on the 2013 X).

Most of the issues that you see posted on the Reddit thread and here do exist, but I have yet to experience any major problems myself (I bought the 6p in November). I don't know if you're planning on using the phone naked or with a case. But if you don't want to use a case, I'd recommend getting a skin to help with holding the phone. I honestly don't regret buying the phone early, and Google customer reps seem to be pretty good (for the most part) with accepting RMA requests.

The only aspect of the Moto X that I miss is the Voice suite (reprogramming the Google Voice launch phrase, hands off driving mode), Active Display, and the size. The ambient display on the 6p is not as sensitive as the Moto X, but it's not terrible either. I can barely use the 6p with one hand, but I've honestly adjusted to using both hands and it feels normal to me.

tl;dr I recommend buying the 6p, it's the best upgrade from the Moto X 2013 and you won't regret it

Awesome thanks for the thoughts guys! I'm probably gonna order it sometime this week.

32 gig graphite for me. I know the gold one is $50 off but I'm not completely sold on that color.

Getting some incredibly annoying issues, particularly with ok Google and the audio settings. Where OK Google will randomly open up and start 'listening' without being commanded to, my audio stops playing and Google music had been just glitchy in general in playback. Its been happening for a day and I'm not sure what to do, but I did have some similar issues on my nexus 5.

Just received a Tempered Glass Screen Protector from XtremeGuard. They are now perfect cut just about edge to edge. It has all the cutouts for sensors and it sticks perfectly on all edges. Remember to buy 2 and use of of the 90% coupons to get them for $4

Now waiting for my RhinoShield CrashGuard Bumper.

Now waiting for my RhinoShield CrashGuard Bumper.

I got my RhinoShield tonight. In my limited use, I am enjoying it. It is nice to have a near naked phone again. I was using the Adopted case so it is quite a chance to go from full coverage to a bumper.

There are some strange things about the bumper though. It's hard to explain, but it's almost like the sides of it aren't reinforced enough so it is fairly easy to pull the sides away from the phone. I don't see it being a huge issue as it is a tight fit, but I wasn't expecting it.

I've seen people also commenting that the buttons are hard to use with the bumper on. I personally don't have any issue with mine, but the buttons are stiff and I can understand why some people wouldn't like it. For me, the buttons are so sensitive, so having to use a bit more force to use them isn't a bad thing. On the Adopted case I barely would bump the buttons and the volume was rapidly going up and down which was annoying.

I didn't get the back dBrand skin from them. All metal feels so good. I have a glass screen protector on and had no issues with fit.

I got the replacement 6P! It seems better than the previous one but it still has static sounds when the volume is low.

Apparently some units of devices can generate background noise that earphones can be sensitive enough to pick up if the earphones have high impedance? Apparently I should get low impedance earphones to help the rest of the way?

I've tested it including with the Huawei earphones the carrier provided with the phone and two other brands. The other came with a Samsung tablet and the other are Sony 'Crystal Clear Sound' ones.

So for the first time today, my phone had a random restart. I glanced over at it after seeing something in the corner of my eye and it said "Google" on the screen and then the startup animation. Has this happened to anyone else here? I hope it doesn't continue to be a problem.

The was an update pushed to my Nexus 5 today, maybe it was that? Though I can't remember if there's a setting where it will automatically install updates and restart.

I get them far too often, and it's really annoying. I have to assume it's software, but you never know. I'll just look at my Android wear watch and see it's disconnected, then realize the phone rebooted and is waiting for my pattern to start up.

It's completely random too, some days it'll happen twice, then a week with nothing...I'm just scared it will happen in the middle of the night and my alarm won't go off...

Along with the gmail sync issue (which is also happening with the other IMAP account I have in that app), I am having to relaunch many other apps to get them connected to the internet. I think there is some major issue with the wifi<->lte handover when an app is in the background or when the phone screen is off.

I'm really tempted to get this phone today, but I'm not sure the finger print scanner is worth the extra $150 over getting a regular nexus 6 or Moto pure.

Thoughts?

I mean, beyond the finger print scanner and camera, how much better are the specs really? It's like a $200 difference after tax. And that's only for the 32gb : (

It's more than just an extra fingerprint scanner. It's more powerful, has a bigger battery, better front camera, and in my opinion is significantly prettier.

I'm ready to pull the trigger.

New the big question is, considering it's gonna be in a case, should I get it in gold so I can get the 64gb version for $500?

How does black look in person? Amazon has same day delivery on it.
