How long is the Uncovered event going to be anyway? 1-2 hours?
How can they fill all that time?
All that comes to mind is:
-introduction (5min)
-epic trailer (4-5min)
-release date talk and reveal (5min)
-exploration footage (3min) + talk (5min)
-combat footage 3min + talk (5min9
-tech demo announcement and live demo (5-10min)
-Yoko Shimomura live performance? With Somnus, Veiled in Black and maybe the singed main theme (with the reveal of the artist) (15-20min)
-limited edition talk (5min)

No idea what else they could shove in.

Falk introducing the Gratia Mundi Preorder exclusive track

Together with the change of the opening sequence, his removal is one of the biggest gripes tbh

There will probably be quite a bit of time dedicated to an onstage demo of some sort.(could take a solid 20-30 minutes)
This is also a great time to officially introduce the English voice cast(4 bros+luna?+regis???) and probably interview them.(again another 20-30 minutes)

This is also a great time to announce the theme song performed by some mainstream artist or group that may actually draw audible boos from the crowd.

Just imagine if utada hikaru is doing the theme song. My eyes won't close the whole time when I'm there.

You can see the changes made in the new footage. They for sure made some changes and for the betterment of the final game.

Have you seen Ramuh yet? Or did you just watch videos. And make sure you get Armiger.

Just got to the first encounter with bahamut. Spent a lot of time just trying out the combat. Looooooved that mobs could just sort of wander in, ended up in a 20min battle with the mammoths, tech guards, and dogs mixed together. But seriously the attacking just felt so disconnected from everything else, especially considering how well the dodging is implemented (still needs work though clearly).

Going to keep playing though and finish it up, because it really is such a joy to be in that universe. They nailed the exploratoritive tone and overall art design. Ive always been interested by the mix of fantasy and reality, but playing it.....wow...... the fantasy aspects become so much more fantastic when sitting next to something familiar. Feels like what being in a kid's imagination, looking for pokemon in the woods down the street, being a monster slaying badass in a castle that looks a lot like your friends house, or pretending that oak tree is a actually a giant monster ready to come stomping on the family car.

Damn well glad you are having fun for the most part! I am actually going to revisit it later tonight I think. Good times. But glad they fixed the combat.

I thought this too. It does feel like when you are a kid and go camping and you go off with your sibs or friends and start playing around the woods, hiding behind trees, climbing rocks and such. This is the kinda shit I was imagining my characters in FFVI were doing in THEIR adventure, just not being able to be shown because of graphical limitations(but I still envisioned FFVI's world being just as grand and full of awe).

Backstreet Boys brah

So I am messing around with Armiger again and I am curious as what will be all the different abilities we gain from collecting the different swords. We see 4 in the demo but there will obviously be more. I am curious what else what we will be able to do with it.

I've been replaying Duscae too.... Alotta potential with the Armiger. Alotta potential everywhere.

I have really issues envisioning how this battle system could work in a tight boss battle. In the DEMO everything looked so automatic and messy, while usually in FF I'm used to have some sort of real control of the field and battles. If it was full action it could work, could also work if it was like XII/ARR, but as is now and from even the last trailer... it's the biggest concern to me. I don't want to spam splash damage all the way. I would like more control, evades, parries, party control ect. or else it'll be boring fast without those absurd FF/KH awesome secret bosses to challenge with.

Luna art.

So i have questions about the magic and really don't want to search all 60 pages for answers.

So how does this work ? Normally it looks like there are 4 weapon type noxis can choose from "Top", "Right", "Left", "Bottom". At some point, there is this orange thing blinking on the enemy and noxic can choose fire by choosing "Left".

So is this triggered by certain Events like the summoning in Episode Duscae ?

So is this her default dress?
Pretty uncomfortable to fight with something like this on.

She seems like the caster / summoner type so I doubt she will be doing much acrobatics.

But she could have another "adventure outfit" we haven't seen yet, and I think it would be revealed in a grander way than a tweet (March event).

I like the art, nice line work.

The orange bar is unrelated for magic. When one segment fills up on the orange bar, one party command is available. You can bring up the party command menu by holding L1. If you notice the weapon selection menu in the video will change to the party commands: Mark, Tempest and Flare Gun or something.

Magic is equipped like a weapon to one of your 4 weapon slots. It's not clear yet whether there will be some sort of cool-down period, a limited number of uses or if there will be some other sort of gague for magic but it does not use MP.

Also, in the final game, summoning isn't supposed to work the same way as it did in the demo.

You equip the magic as items in one of your 4 weapon slots and can then switch to it via the D-Pad (in the instance you mentioned it was in the Left button). It's not yet clear how you "collect"/"fill up" those magic items, but they said there are some sources of elemental magic spread around the world. Tabata confirmed that it's not like the Draw system in FFVIII, though.

So no Mana usage. Sounds interesting. While i'm happy to hear that it's not event based, the fire used in the video looksbroken as hell. Noctis normal attacks make about 150-300 damage and his fire did 6500. But i suppose this was just for the sake of the video to "one-shot" the enemy.

I'm glad he said it's not like the draw system. To me, that says that we don't have to worry about losing the magic if we use it all up. I kinda have a feeling we will get those little items that we equip for magic and then will have to "recharge" them at certain points or they will recharge on their own after some time.

I have to be honest I don't like the sound of having to sacrifice a weapon slot for one type of magic spell. It just feels like it's going to be incredibly limited, especially given how Final Fantasy magic works. Based on the combat in Episode Duscae the combat needs expansion not substitution.

I think the reason the fire did so much damage was because Noctis broke the leg of that magitek armor, spilling oil everywhere and then used fire on it. If you use lighting in rain or around water it will have a similar effect.

You're not going to be using magic as your main way of fighting. Tabata mentioned something about that. So it seems like you'd just be able to open up your menu really quick, equip the magic, use it and then swap back to your weapon. Would be a little more convenient to hold L2 or something and bring up your magic menu but whatever.

A lot of of it will probably be information that we heard about the game over the years and recap of ATR's. This is a re-introduction of the game I doubt the long time followers are the focus for this event. Also if ATR can last 1 hour, 1h30 min event is nothing.

I'm still playing through FF X HD on my PS4... but is Luna supposed to be a Yuna 2.0 or something? This is her description from the official website for the game: "Luna made many fond memories with Noct in their childhood, but their days of innocence ended abruptly when the empire overtook her home of Tenebrae. Through adversity, she became the youngest Oracle in history. Adored and respected the world over, she now travels in search of communion with the gods to aid Noct on his journey."

It's like... the only difference between Yuna and Luna is that the fact that Titus and Yuna met as teens while Noctis and Luna met as kids...

I'm sure I'm wrong, though.

This won't have the ATR format if the hosts are the guys from SF, it'll be more akin to a conference than an ATR. A recap of ATR's isn't even needed when most of them showed unfinished stuff, long explanations that aren't true for the game anymore and other stuff that'd be better shown in a stage demo.

Only thing clicking with me that would make them similar is the bolded. And it doesn't even seem that way because isn't noct the one traveling around finding the summoms(gods)?

You didn't bold anything :p

But I agree that they aren't too similar and yeah Noctis is the one doing it and the summons themselves play a much different role

If they wanted to hit the J-rock boyband demo, they'd probably hit up Dir en Grey, Nightmare, Flow, or something. (My J-rock knowledge is lacking).

Miyavi could work now that he's hellbent on singing in English as well as Japanese...

Ling Tosite Sigure would be actually an awesome choice

If we are going just from a music standpoint

Wait...what? Noctis' true mission is to find summons like Ramuh to help take back the kingdom?

Isn't it to collect the phantom swords? Summons wrecking stuff along the way (and then acquiring them) is another thing entirely.

Luna is making a pilgrimage to get the gods' help. Where does it say that the gods == summons?

Ignis seems to refer to them as gods in the Duscae demo (though he could also be uttering a simple prayer) and Tabata describes the Archaeans/Astrals as the closest thing to gods in XV's world. Not only that, the Duscae synopsis suggests Noctis is specifically seeking out at least one, Titan. I don't think it's too far-fetched to say Noctis is not only collecting his ancestral blades but also the aid of these beings to reclaim his country.

This is the definition of an Archaen from the FFXV wiki:

Archaeans are a physical manifestation of the power of the stars and serve as the world's protectors; they defend certain areas from destruction by the activities of humans.

So they seem to be demi-godlike

So did Gaf ever found out that the scans/screen shots were taken from the progress report videos?
Everyone was freaking out about bad grass and low res textures but TBH squarenix could have opted out putting those screen shots online.

I was bored so I did a search on all Versus XIII threads on GAF.

Holy shit. If only I could go back in time and warn all of us about the wait we would endure. Lots and lots of posts predicting 2013 and 2014 as launch years, and here we are in 2016, hoping Lord Tabata finally delivers.

Well they did say the game was complete and in the beta phase so I have high hopes that there won't be any delays. They are giving themselves plenty of time to optimize.

Yeah, I actually trust 2016 to be THE year.

But man... I seriously don't know what I will feel when I finally get the game disc in my hands. It's going to feel so weird, so amazing, so nostalgic in a way.

And then when I finally play it, I will go back to those threads and laugh at the ignorant and primitive pre-Versus XIII civilization, for I will be a man of the future.

At first I will probably miss the fact that I am not waiting for this game. Such an odd and fun experience. Then I will be like okay game in time to finally play it.

We will all be a part of the future! Ah damn.. These last few months are going to be the hardest.

Going through old GAF threads is fun. Once researched old IGN articles and FFXII threads from 2004-2006 or so because I wanted to compare the reactions to the departure and change of directors to those of FFXV. It's funny to see the parallels.

Also lol@ this Amir0x post just a few months before Versus XIII was revealed as the first Nomura-directed FF at E3 2006:

All he does is the character designs, it not like he's in Matsuno's position with any of the FF's.
Oh, one day he will be. Because we can't have good things.

Wow, only took two posts. FFXV threads still the same as ever I see

But mine wasn't a complain on how it looks, just guessing that it seems more of a ceremonial dress with the long but tight skirt and all, and since they said we'll see Luna fighting i guess it's not that comfy.

Just a reminder that we bought a Playstation 3 for the game they are still currently developing. It has been a terrible terrible wait. I agree that these last few months will be the absolute worst, given that they love to push stuff until the end of months. I watch the old trailers sometimes because I miss the setting of versus, but I'm highly convinced nothing much has changed based on the glimpses we get.

I don't think the world has ever changed either, all the Versus stuff was mostly Lucis related and we see the game has way more than that, we just have a far bigger view/scope of the game now.

Well we are going to have costme changes for Noctis and co. So I bet she gets them as well.

This game has been my #1 most wanted game for 10 years. Having it finally come out and no longer be something to look forward to will feel very strange.
