Luna art.

The art looks nomuraish

The face looks a bit different IMO. Nomura's style usually looks more "flat" (and he is particularly fond of side views and profiles).

So did Gaf ever found out that the scans/screen shots were taken from the progress report videos?
Everyone was freaking out about bad grass and low res textures but TBH squarenix could have opted out putting those screen shots online.

We know even the better looking shots with cleaner IQ were from an older build with less optimized shadows and lighting compared to the battle footage, which Tabata confirmed was from the latest build. I don't think there's anything to worry about regarding the other screens. SE has a history of releasing WIP shots for the game.

Ok so i got Duscae over the weekend and was pretty blown away with the lighting and the way draw distance is stylized for large creatures and structures
Duscae was lovely

I don't know if they mentioned specifics of what's improved visually since the demo? but I know i've heard people say IQ went up from this, and it honestly wasn't that bad in 2.0 so that's great

I personally loved Duscae but I feel this demo did a lot harm to the uninitiated, since a lot of folks equate a demo to the final product.. Hell I wouldn't even consider Duscae a demo it's so early.

I have no doubt the game will look better upon release and some concessions will be made of course.

I bet no one and I mean no one prefers those ugly circle weapon select hud better than the older hud's we seen.

Duscae is basically an Early Access version - a paid Alpha.

Yeah, the circles must go, definitely. Generally the weapon selection HUD should be optional.

I like the circles much more honestly. The rectangular ones feel like they're pasted on and take up a lot of space. Circles are also more visually appealing.

No, you are trolling I get that symmetry is objective/subjective but, not in this case. You've been added to my troll list.
:P

Well we are going to have costme changes for Noctis and co. So I bet she gets them as well.

OG Stella costume pls ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Am i the only one that loved those sort of hexes from the Progress Report #2?

Definitely not, it looked really good.

Definitely prefer those over the circular ones. (even the icon design is much better)
Sorry to beat a dead horse here, but I still prefer the classic crystal ones.

Or to be honest no hud at all, t's only 4 weapons, it's not hard to memorize.

Seriously, I think I like more the current one. Let me explain why. Back in 2014, in that trailer, I'm sure you would have to browse through the list of equipped weapon by the way they are placed and aligned, probably with only 2 buttons (let's say : left and right dpad arrows).

Well, in the current UI, what I like is that you don't need to browse, you just need to press a button, and you get the corresponding weapon materialized.

tbh, I'm finding it more appealing to quickly select my weapon during a combo over browsing a list.

I think people are fine with weapon icon placement: top, bottom, left, right. They just don't like the circles or the general look of them.

Apparently more people prefer the circles on the forums.

I like this fan custom one from that batch. Hoping we can disable it all though.

To me that's worse. The vertical special meters don't look good and the weapon icons just floating there without anything, be that circles or whatnot, doesn't look too good.

And it's a FF. You probably won't be disabling the command menu/HUD elements.

There's a first time for everything. It's the first time with an action battle system in a mainline title. With the devs making a focus on user experience, no HUD can play a pretty huge part in immersion.

Christ I'll be sad if you can't shut off the HUD and I'll be even further disappointed if it doesn't autohide while wandering around outside of battle. Duscae's HUD not fading out is my biggest gripe with it tbh

The game looks really good on their but.... but... What's with the brick textures? I mean for this gen in general. We get a lot of sharp textures these days for obvious reasons but I see a lot of games using piss poor brickwall textures. Maybe it's just me who's obsessed with brickwall textures but I'm still hoping that they get another pass.

Same. I think the left side is way too big right now and I feel they're trying to keep in elements from the turn-based HUD that's pointless for a real-time system, like the attack/defend icons.

Don't really care too much what the final HUD ends up being, as long as we can disable it.

Maybe hide it outside of combat, but a lot of that stuff is pretty integral during combat, so it'd be kinda dumb to hide it. A couple of unobtrusive hud elements like health bars & small command menus never affected my immersion/level of enjoyment in games before (don't think Bayonetta would be any more GOAT if they "improved immersion" by removing the HUD altogether), not seeing what's so bad about it in FFXV, just so long as it doesn't take up 60% of the screen and isn't coloured with all the colours of the rainbow or something.

EDIT: I do agree the "Attack/Defend" commands are pointless, but otherwise the rest can stay.

Anyone remember/played Vanquish there was no need for a health HUD.
LXB0IQ1.jpg

Health is color coded on the back of your Armor. Green (obvious, full/near full health), Orange (Getting to about 50%) and Red (self explanitory).
So, keep your eye on the back of his Armor, and you'll notice these changes, as you're getting shot at/about to die.
Final Fantasy should implement a non HUD system for the weapons
tumblr_inline_o1t89vt7Jm1srbbz1_540.png

The weapons should briefly appear as you hold down(or press) the D pad arrow (in their translucent look ) and materialize when you release whichever d pad button you pressed or held followed by Noctis grabbing the sword animation.
Up Dpad (infront of nocts body) Down Dpad, behind, Left & right arm left & right dpad buttons.

Not that I don't love a good brick wall texture but that is the least of my worries :lol

I feel like there is a distinct possibility that you guys aren't taking this whole brickwall thing as seriously as I am. Maybe I'm just picking up signals where there aren't any though.

First they downgrade Noctis's soles, then they downgrade the grass, they show off Cidney, then they downgrade the UI, then they downgrade the grass again, and now they have done it damnit, they have down graded our brick walls... Those mother fuckers have downgraded our brick walls!

We shall not stand for this!

I just wanted some good brickwalls man. Just some good sharp brickwalls with some depth baked into the textures. Too many times have I suffered from poor brickwalls in huge budget AAA games chock full of sharp-as-fuck textures. :/

You have my sword. I won't stand sub par bricks.

Thank you! I do fear that we will have to fight the good fight with just the two of us though.

I don't think there will be enough buildings made from brick to even notice, unless you plan on staying in Duscae the whole game staring at the brick country house at the chocobo ranch

Shredderi's Final Fantasy XV: The story of a prince who leaves his kingdom to become a bricklayer.

I actually hope that you're got-damn-right because I want fantastical and exotic looking architecture and buildings from the game and I'm hoping that the semi-realistic looking portion of the game is just the intro/tutorial phase :)

Shredderi's Final Fantasy XV: The story of a prince who leaves his kingdom to become a bricklayer.

I'd play that, to be honest.

The texture quality and close range environment geometry is really subpar in Duscae so I think it's a fair concern. That building looks terrible graphically. Don't make me screenshot the horrendous shopkeeper window with blurry rectangles allegedly intended to look like the products. It seriously shouldn't look that bad in the final game.

Arkham Knight has crazy good textures. You can read notes on desks, newspapers on bulletin boards, numbers on payphones, etc. FFXV can at least meet us halfway. Like at least serve us Fallout 4 texture quality instead of Duscae environment textures.

Anything we see for more than 30 minutes should look at least average, and that brick wall is well below average.

You're gonna stand and watch a brick wall for 30 minutes? Anyway, I'm sure the game will look fine in the end, it's got a decent chance to be one of the best looking games yet going by that latest video with the crazy shadow system.

I really don't think we need to worry to much about textures. It is an SE game after all so they will want it to look stunning. I wouldn't be surprised if the framerate takes a hit due to it but I really hope it has both a steady framerate and great textures.

Also keep in mind that brick is from the demo which is now almost a year old and the newest footage is what you should be looking at in terms of textures.

I hung out at that outpost well over 30 minutes and the building looked bleh. The scenes were saved by the main cast, lighting, and art. The textures are rough so let's not.
