UMvsC3 deserves to be preserved for all time

Xbox 360 version can be saved in compatibility with XB1, at least all previously purchased copies (both physical and digital) in backwards compatibility, at least is doable since is not needed to resell the game for XB1 running X360 games and it can be preserved a little bit more on that platform

Yeah, that's doable, but what about the DLC? Don't BC games automatically include all the DLC? Maybe Capcom would have to strike a deal what Disney to make it BC just because of that.

Until Capcom renews it's licensing deal with Marvel/Disney nothing can happen.

I really hope they get around to that sooner than later though, because I want MvC 4 so badly, and it'd be nice to get a PC port of MvC 3 too.

unfortunatly the ps3 version of UMvC3 is not very good. Hopefully Emulation can fix the slowdown issues.

It likely would but it's going to be a while before that emulator is in a usable state.

If Capcom will even consider renewing the Marvel license will likely depend on the success of Street Fighter V.

Jill and Shuma are now totally unavailable to anyone who missed them first time around, right? I still think it was a huge mistake not putting them on the disc in Ultimate.

Speaking from a FGC viewpoint, I believe the community would rather like to see the 360 version be preserved as that's the preferred platform for tournaments.

Well, I was really just talking about preserving "a" version of the game. With regards to the fighting games community, I don't think they would ever play on an emulator, so the 360 and PS3 versions of the game stand on equal ground: as long as someone has a physical copy of the game, or a console with the digital copy installed, they are all set. Besides, it's not like the 360 hasn't been blown wide open and "backups" can be run without much effort...

If you're speaking in strictly legal terms, well, as many people have pointed out, that's a whole mess on its own.

It likely would but it's going to be a while before that emulator is in a usable state.

Usable state? Seriously? Have you seen the video I posted? RPCS3 is far better than "usable".

Still nonsense that you couldn't upgrade from vanilla to Ultimate via DLC.

at the very least there's a disc so there is some sense of accessibility/preservation

full digital games are totally fucked if they get pulled, haha

also lol at zen, i always wonder what happened to folks like that to have so much hate for the game and it's community

i wish i could find that vid where someone model swapped maya with wesker
it was such a great video 'cuz it ever carried over to phoenix wright's winpose, facial expressions and all

Its Capcom. They have no money to port. Hell at this point, it'd make more sense to suck up to Sony to platinum hits the thing for a port to PS4 with HH mode, Vita hitbox viewer, the DLC, and tacked on balance adjustments and possible HH local play.

They do that they could unify the entire remaining player base to PS4 for another 10 years or something just off of balance updates alone. Heck remove TAC infinites and that alone would probably draw folks in.

All UvMC3 need was another update and thats it. It could have taken over FGC (which it did for a couple of years)completely. It used to destroy SFIV in views every tournament. The matches were intense to play and hype to watch. Oh well Marvel will probably never allow an update or MvC4. Time to move on and hopefully capcom makes another Vs game like Capcom Vs Sony now that they are working together or Street fighter Vs Capcom etc.

I agree. The only thing that was standing in Capcom's way from doing so was because of the licensing with Marvel that was being expired.

From now on Capcom should just get out of the licensing mess and go for Capcom VS Capcom route. That would be awesome.

Definitely. I feel the same way!

The Fox ban doesn't include remasters or ports of games made before the ban was enacted. That's how the Deadpool remaster was able to happen.

Yeah but what I'm saying is that for Capcom to get back the license, Disney/Marvel would have to be in agreement. And I doubt they would even bother considering MvC3 is full of stuff they don't care about anymore.

As far as Deadpool goes, I didn't think Activision ever lost the license so it wasn't an issue right?

It doesn't need ports to be preserved. Everything gets emulated. It's too bad it didn't get the support it deserved post launch though.

Capcom's contract expired, while Activision's was terminated prematurely for unknown reasons. However, clearly Activision & Marvel worked things out since then, hence the games that still had active contracts (namely Deadpool) being put back up for digital purchase. The remaster was a result of, as stated before, the game being made before the ban.

I still want to get a Vita copy of this game eventually. I probably would have bought a digital copy before they pulled it off of PSN had I known at the time. I bought all of the LittleBigPlanet Marvel content off of PSN before they delisted it. Very slim chance these things will come back because of licensing.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1/2 was relisted on xbox live, as is other games like Deadpool, Spiderman Shattered dimensions have also resurfaced. In the case of Ultimate Alliance, there are several xmen and Fantastic Four characters in it, so I'd think at this point the main issue is Capcom not being able ( or wanting) to cough up licensing fees again.

If Sony wanted to score a coup( seeing as they bankrolled SFV), maybe they'd consider funding exclusive rights to distributing UMvC3 on PSN, or since remastering is a thing this gen, working with Capcom on funding a ps4 remaster. And, if there's any beef with respects to the Xmen characters in the game, replace them with any number of characters from recent MCU movies. There's no shortage of formally obscure characters who are getting their moment in the sun now. Heck, Rocket Raccon is in the game, and he's far more known now after the GOTG film. Throw in Starlord, Groot, and give us Winter Soldier, Loki and Ant-man while they're at it.

Or, just give us MvC4.

Like I said before, games made before the X-Men/F4 ban (the cut-off point was the launch of Contest of Champions) can be remastered or ported with their rosters untouched. It's if Capcom makes MvC4 (assuming they want to even bother with the license renewal fee) that they have to abide by the ban. Seeing as Capcom's original UMvC3 contract expired, they probably can't add anyone else to the UMvC3 roster (for reference, Gazillion has until 2019 to renew their Marvel license, which is when they have to start abiding by the recent ban). At the same time, Capcom is recovering from some financial woes, so it's understandable that they're a bit more conservative with their money.

This is why I raised the point of whether i.e Sony may consider it a worthwhile venture to fund/partially fund a ps4 remaster, or if the game is too old at this point to bother with just make a 4th title. It's not a case of demand, moreso Capcom's financial state, that would be the biggest hurdle. Not that I'm especially fond of a 4th game being exclusive, but I'd prefer than option to it not existing at all.

And we'll have to wait for the sales of Street Fighter V to come in before Sony could even consider footing the Marvel license bill for Capcom.

I got the Vita and 360 versions. Never got the DLC, though. Those characters looked garbage.

Marvel games haven't clicked with me. Too much stuff going around. The last Marvel game I truly enjoyed was Marvel Super Heroes.

One of my favorite games of last gen, if it somehow got ported to PS4 or something I think I would actually cry tears of joy. Too many good times with the game, I'd love to come back to it.
Buff Ironman pls

In that instance you'd see to all your demands met except for balance changes.

I can't even speak to UMvC3's current status when it comes to such things but I don't think a game 5+ years old needs a rebalance.

The last time I checked 3 isn't 5 characters and CapCom on Assist so in its current state of flux it sits better than 2 after 15 and unless something more dirty gets discovered which I honestly just think the game's just about mined clean of meta changing tech is that the game's a lot more viable and got off a whole lot better if where it stands is where it will stand.

You'd might as well just get 4 popping off, make that Capcom vs Capcom game everybody keeps making noise about or just make Tatsunoko vs Capcom 2 like I want but after seeing what kind of love DoA got when dealing with them I don't see that happening at all in a way that would make sense to even pursue it.

Thing is, I have no clue what Sony or Marvel would get out of this if they were to make this happen.

Sony probably has the money to burn to hire some team to make the port happen but with Contest of Champions doing numbers for Marvel why would they even care about a port of a 5 year old game to PS4?

Even if you could get both sides to see it is where are the fans with the cash to buy the port to even make it a profitable call for either side to consider?

The best bet would be to relist Vanilla & Ultimate on all the storefronts with the DLC included, add it to XBONE BC and call it a day. Much less work to get THE version on current gen and everybody gets a chance to pick up the content if they missed out on it.

All I want is Swagneto back. Those Spanish people can't really be mad about that still right?

2 & Origins would be nice to bring back too but bringing X-Men Arcade or getting CotA, X & MSH vs SF in a set won't ever happen though.

Good or rather Jump VS. Capcom ! Imagine a cast from Dragon Ball, Naruto, One Piece, JoJo, HxH... in a Capcom fighting style.

And even better for a nightmare licencing hell : Jump VS. Marvel VS. DC.

DC is only going to fight in the mortal kombat universe because then they keep it all in house.

That'd still require Capcom to renew the license. And at that point, they'd might as well do something major with the license like remaster UMvC3 for the PS4 or do Marvel 4.

As for Swagneto, the alt was made years after House of M & the Spanish were still salty.

Most likely, although given both the popularity of the vs series and Marvel right now it's not exactly a high risk proposition to green-light a possible 4th game without knowing how SFV would sell. Sony wouldn't have funded SFV if they had any doubts to its sales potential. And especially since, as far as I'm aware, this is going to be the only release and not spawn the usual super/hyper/ultra revisions which some people may hold off for.

Heck, I'd be all in for an all-Marvel fighting game published by Sony and developed by someone like Platinum games.
