I love all the "Snyder can't direct!" followed by "this looks awesome", "that looks awesome", "holy shit!", "way better than Nolan Batman!", etc, etc.

Guys, Snyder directed all those scenes you're salivating over. I mean, come on.

Zach Synder is awful but I don't think this movie needs to be more than Age of Ultron. Good action with splash pages brought to live and nothing more.

I loved the MoS trailer too though.

Man, that basically told me I just really want a solo batman movie. after the batman scene the rest looked 😴😴😴

We are finally getting a proper Batman, can't believe it took almost 35 years worth of movies for it to finally happen.

Snyder :bow

I loved the MoS trailer too though.

And most people will agree that MoS's problem was its script. But the scenes themselves were well put together which is what a director does. He can't make a shit script suddenly gold unless he changes it and considering a Snyder penned script comes out as Sucker Punch you don't want that either.

The difference with this movie is that it's the first Zack Snyder film that has a great screenwriter behind it. I'll wait until it's released before passing judgment. If it proves to be bad, then I'll add Snyder to my list of directors about whom I don't care.

That shouldn't matter because a Director is ultimately responsible for all aspects of a film, including the script, plus he wrote Sucker Punch. Now, I'm not saying Snyder is a terrible director but I do agree with the notion that his trailers tend to be better than his ultimate films.

"way better than Nolan Batman!"

Hold on - fight choreography, sure. Maybe even production design... but does anyone actually think this is going to be pound-for-pound a better film than Nolan's first two Bat-flicks? I'm sure somebody will respond with a curt and unhelpful "yes", but like... I was around back in 2005 and 2008, and judging by the temperature of the room, this doesn't seem to be eliciting similar levels of confidence.

Nope.

I know people love to shit on Synder but his filmography is great.

Which of his films are "great" though? The general consensus is his films range from awful(Sucker punch, MoS) to Decent(Dawn, Watchmen). Hes not regarded as a very good director and rightfully so. He can direct some stylish scenes and thats about it.

For me, 300 is peak Snyder. No substance really, and it hasn't aged great - but it was mindblowing to me at the time.

Well the Nolan Batman comment has to be specifically about choreography, at least I hope :\
