Whomever is responsible for editing these trailers should never work in the industry again.

That said, I liked the new footage I saw. Even if most of it was poorly edited.

Gadot sounds great. And finally the Batman we deserve.

Well when people have low standards, they're easy to please!

Have you seen the list of top grossing movies? The movie will have a big opening weekend on name recognition alone. Whether it has legs depends on its quality.

As for Synder looks cool=/= can direct. I mean its comics so sometimes good visuals is enough but like I said Ultron had moments that looked cool hell Amazing Spider Man 2 had moments that looked cool but that doesn't make a good movie. I would be happy if this was just AoU though as its a step up from MoS.

For me, 300 is peak Snyder. No substance really, and it hasn't aged great - but it was mindblowing to me at the time.

I actually missed that at the cinema at the time and didn't see until years later. Wasn't that impressive. Watchmen is his best imo even though it completely loses the themes and subtexts of the graphic novel.

He can direct the shit out of action

And then flop on everything else

Nah, Dawn of the Dead & Watchmen have proved he can do drama scenes decently. Granted a lot of that comes down to the skill of the actor hired to do that job, but still.

I don't think he's a bad director. I think he's got good instincts, and great visual sense. I also think he's not so great at thinking about how to maximize either of those things. So you end up with a guy who bounces around between "Smarter Michael Bay" and "Dumber Martin Campbell" depending on the screenplay.

even though it completely loses the themes and subtexts of the graphic novel.

Nah, it doesn't. It doesn't translate them particularly strongly, but being as a large amount of what that book is about is about BEING A BOOK, it was never going to.

300 in IMAX in the theater would make you shit a brick

Yeah, if you saw 300 later, it loses a lot of its impact. In the theaters though, holy shit.

I feel like Synder gets Batman as much as he doesn't get Superman. That opening scene looked amazing, but I still don't think Supes smiles once in the trailer.

Definitely miles better than the last trailer, but still trying to keep my expectations in order.

I thought Watchmen had some great drama scenes (YOU'RE LOCKED IN HERE WITH ME) and some reaaal bad ones.

That's a good comparison, though. I can appreciate the crazy shit Snyder brings to the table just like I can with Bay.

300 has some underrated bits of drama. Leonidas/Queen Gorgo "goodbye my love" scenes, and pretty much everything from the narrator.

Is it really all that surprising that a director who has built his entire career on being an edgelord who can copy comic panels into film really well relates better to Batman than Superman?!

So, can they just remove that last trailer from the Internet? My hype was high, then I saw that awful trailer, got worried, then saw this.

300 was like the first Bayformers back then. Basically everyone talks about how awesome its visual effects and sound was but then you LTTP and watch it on bluray and were like "ehhhhh...".

Yup. It's an ultra-modern take on the sort of story you might have heard around a campfire two thousand years ago. That is to say... it's a kernel of inspirational truth wrapped in myth and delivered with style. It was a great match for his natural instincts as a director. His flair actually enhanced the story, and not vice versa.

for the 0 people wondering, that is a Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS (PC flight sim controller setup) being used in that Batplane/Batwing/Batwhatever at the beginning.

While the Batman sequence at the beginning looks cool, he also looks amped up to Captain America levels. That seems like superhuman level strength.

Hold on - fight choreography, sure. Maybe even production design... but does anyone actually think this is going to be pound-for-pound a better film than Nolan's first two Bat-flicks? I'm sure somebody will respond with a curt and unhelpful "yes", but like... I was around back in 2005 and 2008, and judging by the temperature of the room, this doesn't seem to be eliciting similar levels of confidence.

This Batman is most certainly better than the awful Christian Bale. Movie will most certainly not be better but I will be surprised if the solo Batman movie is not better than the Nolan one's. After all it is being directed by Affleck.

That shot is sensational. Say what you want about Snyder, but the man knows how to create fantastic visuals.

Snyder is really good at crafting really cool looking moments. He shares that skill with Bay. But he seems to spend so much currency on making those individual moments that the surrounding stuff kind of flatlines, because it doesn't have as much effort or it needs to be twisted and contrived in such a way to result in that cool singular moment. This is exemplified when he starts working towards specific panels from a comic book, and it becomes a chain of "LOOK AT THIS COOL SHOT" and "THIS IS THE COOLEST MOMENT EVER" and the links between those moments are barely holding things together, or they aren't at all.
