They are. Fable and killer instinct are cross play. They had better not make gears crossplay if it comes to PC though.Seems MS is making good on their PC relationship claim.
My question is why are they not embrace cross-platform play like Sony (albeit with 3rd Party games)?
This. If I would of known about this and the chance of scalebound coming to PC then I wouldn't have this Xbox collecting dust. Still getting the games (on PC now) but knowing this would have been helpful.
Hey guys, I don't own a PS4 (yet) but I'm still buying SFV and Shenmue (when I upgrade my pc)...on Steam. Sony gets none of that money and one less PS4 and PSN subscription. Who gets the money? Valve and Capcom.
Hey guys, I don't own a XB1 (yet) but I'm still buying Quantum Break and Killer Instinct (when I upgrade my pc) on Windows 10 store. Microsoft gets all of that money but one less subscription.
Hey guys, I own an XB1 but I have a gaming PC. I'm going to get rid of it (sell it to a store who sells it to someone else) since all the games MS provides is going to be on Windows 10 store. Who gets the money from the games I buy from W10 store? Microsoft (and third parties that sell on Windows 10 store).
Hey guys, I own an XB1 and I'm getting QB and KI. I don't care about what games come to PC. I still have XBL and I get to still play those games. MS gets my money. I'm happy.
Hey guys, I just want to bitch about MS not having exclusive games for a box that I bought. I want to have exclusive stuff because I like exclusive stuff and that's what I thought I was getting with Xbox...a Microsoft company that also owns Windows and has a store in which they sell software for 1st party and 3rd parties.
Hi guys, I want to bitch about MS not having these games on Steam because I like steam games and they give me the options I'm used to. I don't care that it doesn't make business sense for MS. I want my games how I want them.
Hey guys, I like Nintendo games. I get to play them. I'm happy.
Hey guys, I like Sony games. I get to play them. I'm happy.

People of this thread fall into these categories (obviously there's more...lol)
I'm not generally a fan of Phil, but he kind of hit the nail on the head here. If the guy wants to cut off his nose to spite his face then he's more than welcome to do so.
That apostrophe though.
Hmm on one hand I can understand the disappointment in a non-fanboy way.
Exclusives bring value to your console. If those exclusive can be played elsewhere why own the console.
And Im not saying why own it because the audience is expanding and more people get to play, like TimDog, CG, and other fanboys.
Im saying as an individual, why own an XBone, if you can play most of their games on a PC, and also invest is a larger library not found on the XBone?
Anyone take a look at Phil Spencer's twitter today? I hate giving someone like Crapgamer attention, but this was too good.

Most companies -- especially ones as big as Microsoft -- have an official policy of replying to Twitter complaints and other social media comments. It's the world we live in, now.Every Xbox person is talking to them on twitter which i dont get. But good questions and well written criticism gets ignored from them.

It won't be long before Sony does something similar.

Microsoft just shot themselves in the foot. I dont know how much the rest of you know about Xbox (Im an expert), but exclusives and PlayStation shaming are huge parts of it. Its not like it is at Sony where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over am Xbox fan you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance. What this means is Xbox fans, after hearing about this, are not going to want to purchase exclusives for Xbox, nor will they purchase any of Microsofts games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Microsoft has alienated an entire market with this move. Microsoft, publicly apologize and cancel all Xbox One games for PC or you can kiss your business goodbye.
Yeah, I imagine Sony is carefully watching them at the moment. If this is a success for them, Sony will definitely follow suit.It won't be long before Sony does something similar.
There isn't really any evidence that the PC market and the console market are in any direct competition for consumer dollars, so unless that changes anytime soon I don't see a reason to be concerned. If anything, in a world where more and more publishers are having trepidation about green lighting big budget AAA games, the PC market can only serve to complement the console market.
For major 1st party games?
No chance. You might get mlb.
But aren't they fans of the games? Isn't that why they became fans in the first place, because the games were fun? Do people really get attached to the hardware that runs them? Like, for real?

I cancelled my Amazon pre-order. Not for some elitist reason but if its coming to PC day and date than it will most likely be discounted on PC much sooner and having a rig good enough to play it it would be a waste to play on Xbox One.
but why would you bother when we already have the almighty steam sales for plenty of 3rd party games.
console experiment of more than 25 years? its simply just a closed system style that many business around the world uses.

is it really that shocking video games and sports are pretty much the same things these days with its fanboys rooting for each team and feeling betrayed when a well liked player moves to another team. The teams are the playstation nation, xbones, and pcsteampunks..
It's not that black and white. Turning gamers to the PC and away from a closed eco system like the PS4 means lost PS+ revenue and loss of control. They might benefit from the additional PC sales, but then they might just loose sales to pirating.
I see this move as MS losing confidence in the XB1 to carry a game by itself. They are willing to give up XBL money in hopes to tap a much larger install base. But it can backfire, it could slow XB1 sales and ultimately make the PC their next gen platform (like the days before the Xbox brand).
It's a gamble, but someone was reading the tea leaves. Halo 5 sales maybe showed the a glimpse of things to come.
Because it gives you choice? The games are still there on Xbox One. You decide how you want to play. And with cross buy you can even do both.
Many Xbox one owners don't own a gaming PC. I'm one of them.
This is like the reverse of buying exclusivity for 3rd party games, the argument being that you gain nothing for owners of your system, just take away from the other console. This is the reverse, you lose nothing as an Xbox one owner, just give the games a wider audience and greater potential in the future.
Phil said pretty well:

I'm really hoping they go all the way with the idea that it's about the experience, opening up the next Xbox and making it a true Windows 10 gaming rig that can play things like Steam as well.
It won't be long before Sony does something similar.

I still don't get why some Xbox fans are harassing Phil.
So from their own words, they are mad cause these exclusives are going to PC and so why would people buy Xbox? Why would YOU care though! You already bought an Xbox!
