There's no Double Dipping on KI. It's cross-buy. At least...I thought it was.
I hope this sets a good precedent going forward. Would be fantastic to start on console and eventually upgrade to PC with most of your library intact.

Yeah, they're going to retreat back to Windows too, to protect their diminishing PC marketshare. It won't be long before Sony does something similar.
FTFY.Well, MS has vested interest in Windows, Sony does not.
The way the PS4 is selling, Sony has little incentive to venture into PC gaming.
Yep, they can't ignore that PC money.
It won't be long before Sony does something similar.

At this rate ill be selling my XB1, whats the point of owning it if the same games will be available on the PC which will look better and player smoother!?
But the games are still exclusive, they aren't going to be on Playstation or Nintendo. They can still wave around their stupid flag for warrior bullshit if they want.
And yes, I'm still shocked that full grown men behave like kids.
Yeah. This is good news for me. I have no intent on buying Xbone, I have PS4 and I'm going to get a better PC soony.
Not so great news for Xbox though. Looks like Microsoft is dumping it in favor of PC. There's zero reasons to buy an Xbone over a mid-priced gaming PC. Doom-mongers would even question the whole future of the console. Future looks grim.
Because it gives you choice? The games are still there on Xbox One. You decide how you want to play. And with cross buy you can even do both.
Many Xbox one owners don't own a gaming PC. I'm one of them.
This is like the reverse of buying exclusivity for 3rd party games, the argument being that you gain nothing for owners of your system, just take away from the other console. This is the reverse, you lose nothing as an Xbox one owner, just give the games a wider audience and greater potential in the future.
It won't be long before Sony does something similar.
Which one do you fall into?
Why get a system prior to it having the games you want? If it's collecting dust till X game comes out, then perhaps the purchase wasn't warranted.
There just isn't mass appeal of a competent PC box under your TV. Consoles will always have a place and funnily enough being W10 like device but it's still standard decent performance for a good price. Microsoft is just serving both customers. There is loads of PC gamers and loads of console gamers.
Yeah, they're going to retreat back to Windows too, to protect their diminishing PC marketshare.
Oh.
There could be lots of reasons:
MS could charge a lower fee than Steam
People who buy on W10 store can tap into their XBL friendlist
XBL achievements
Play multiplayer games with XBL people which Steam games generally cannot.
MS could have just have good of sales as Steam or even better
MS would have Xbox exclusive games on W10 store which Steam wouldn't have. This isn't like GOG when they get some old 20 year old game as a "GOG exclusive", these are AAA MS backed games.
Microsoft Releasing Exclusive Games on PC Is Great for Xbox Owners

Why did I buy a Xbox One again? As a Day 1 owner I feel like I've made the most stupid purchase ever.
This certainly true for me so I'm thrilled at prospect of having all future Microsoft games on PC. I don't have to buy a console I don't want and they still get to sell me their games. Everyone wins!!
I still don't get why some Xbox fans are harassing Phil.
So from their own words, they are mad cause these exclusives are going to PC and so why would people buy Xbox? Why would YOU care though! You already bought an Xbox!
I can't even imagine the shitstorm if Uncharted 4 was announced for PC
Xbox brand seems to be in its lower point atm.
Releasing those games in windows 10 sure it's good for all the gamers but it doesn't look so good for Xbox as console...
Some people get attached to the hardware, sure, but I think there are some real concerns (even if they don't affect you, just like always-online didn't affect some potential Xbox One buyers) that are being glossed over here. But aren't they fans of the games? Isn't that why they became fans in the first place, because the games were fun? Do people really get attached to the hardware that runs them? Like, for real?
Providing a streaming (degraded quality) service for back-catalog games to any capable streaming device with bluetooth controller support is quite different from porting your latest and greatest AAA games day and date on Windows and Xbox One, with potentially a superior experience on PC.Sony has been toying around with something similar for a while now.
You can't see where they're headed? The inevitable (albeit likely far off) outcome of this groundwork? It's just a matter of how one ecosystem is defined versus another. The days of games being closed off to a single device are coming to a close.
As a PS4 owner I don't mind, it's the fact Sony helped create the title that counts, not who gets to play it.
IMO no, this is great for PC owners. Xbox owners get very little from it [eventually a free copy of PC game if MS is good enough to promote their win10 store].
I disagree, if anything this move could potentially bring them back from the dire situation they got themselves into.
Most people won't buy another console for any of XBONE's exclusives, by releasing them on PC they are creating a new frontier against Sony, capitalizing on added sales from people who don't own an XBONE, and use an extremely large user base with a lot of potential.
Don't forget who makes Windows after all, money coming from XBOX or XBONE doesn't matter, as long as it's coming.
If anything this move could potentially give them some breathing room.

Why wouldn't they? Do you think the average console gamer has any interest in buying or building a gaming PC?
It makes perfect sense for MS to continue making consoles, as well as seriously investing in the PC gaming scene.
I got long arms, so i plan on reaching
While you dont directly care about what other people are doing, you do care when it indirectly affects you.
Less perceived value, less sales (I bought x console because its the only place to get y game, now y game is on z system, so why did i waste money/i now have no reason to buy x console). Less sales, devs dont port their games because "our fanbase is on other systems" (tales and some japanese titles in general).
Now it affects you because you have access to less content.
Better chance for the game to sell better means more money for MS to make more and better games for XB1 (and PC). Cross-play titles mean bigger community and player-base. 'Games not available anywhere else' is actually not that primary of a reason why the average consumer buys a console or why consoles sell well. And again, the emphasis is more on 'Games not available on the direct competitor console' rather than also not on PC.
This is the reason why sales of XB1 doesn't matter (to a point...still need a good amount). PS4 can blow it out of the water (as it has been)...but MS gets the sales on the PC and the XB1 and that's a bigger fanbase. MS wins because they have a two edged sword whereas Sony only has 1.
When Microsoft says they will support PC, GAF is filled with people quoting that fucking PC-promise timeline from the past 10 years. When they finally deliver and start releasing a bunch of games on PC, they get shat on for ruining their console. Damned if you do...

For one, some people bought and invested in the XBox One platform under the assumption that certain games would only be available on that platform. That assumption has been overturned, so people feel a little burned. Nothing fanboyish or console-warz about that at all. It's a valid feeling. People can choose to blow up about it and behave fanboyish, but that's on them. The core feeling is still valid.
For two, seems like we may have a situation where games are delayed for Xbox One owners to allow for PC ports, as has been pointed out. That's an objective effect on Xbox One owners, no ifs ands or buts about it.
For three, people want their console of choice to do well. There's being a fan of a console and being a raving fanboy. I don't think people wanting their console to do well is fanboyish, though it can be taken to that degree. I don't think people shaking their heads and seeing this as a negative is fanboyish. I can't think of a single instance where losing console exclusives was "great" for a console. I can think of plenty of times when it didn't matter much, and maybe it won't matter here, but there are also times when losing an exclusive affected the future of the console.
To say otherwise is awfully defensive.
Huh?I feel the same lol
If this trend continues and as a owner of a capable PC and a glorious PS4 there is no reason for me to own a XB1. Buying remorse is kicking hard right now.
Change your allegiance from Xbox fanboy to Microsoft Ecosystem fanboy and you'll feel great.
We have yet to see the quality of the service that MS is offering on PC, so far the walled gardening and quality of the Port (TR) leave much to be desired. When Microsoft says they will support PC, GAF is filled with people quoting that fucking PC-promise timeline from the past 10 years.
is this actually true?
is Xbox One + gaming rig pc install base bigger than PS4 install base?
GAF isn't a hivemind
