With Quantum Break going PC who is ditching the X1 in favor of a new rig?

MS is going to announce the xbox two soon

No there is alot of things xbox does that i'd have to spend more money if i was going to go pure PC gaming, like the streaming games, i really enjoy doing that without needing to use an external device..there is a few things that give it a slight edge but other then that - i can go back and forth between xbox/pc if i need too.

Ive wanted an excuse to build something pretty beastly again anyways but just having 3rd party wasn't all that compelling. The idea of being able to really make games like Quatum Break, Scalebound and Gears 4 shine is just to exciting to me.

added the fact that the elite controller works seamlessly with win10.. it's like you're building a better xbox console.? maybe? haha

I would like to build a rig but i love my comfy couch, big screen and 7.1 surround sound. dont feel like spending a lot of money on a pc that is more so the family pc lol

It's one less reason to own an Xbox One. Ok, your average casual console gamer isn't going swap their X1 for a gaming rig. But gaming enthusiasts will be tempted. And that's my point releasing an exclusive on another platform (this case PC) is one less reason for THAT group of people to continue investing in the X1 as a platform.
Exclusives draw people to a particular platform. I just think this another way of MS saying they don't really care about X1 sales anymore.

Why would they be tempted though? If they are gaming enthusiast then they may already have that Rig up to date as well as their X1. If they didn't then selling an X1 will not come close to the price to build, or even maybe upgrade their current PC. If they are already enthusiast then they wouldn't sell their X1 just for this.

Even if all that weren't true at least in one case, the game comes packed with both X1 and PC versions in one package/purchase.

They would invest in PC and X1 at the same time in that case. People that didn't really want the X1 will still think the same. People that already have it would be stupid to sell it if they need to build a PC from scratch. SO it doesn't really affect X1, but it is good for PC, X1 and the franchise.

So many different possibilities, but you focus on the worst and least likely of them. Do you really think Ms doesn't care about the x1

It's like selling your ps4 because Street fighter is coming to pc

I'm still planning on getting an X1 as soon as MS releases a console revision (and inevitable $100 price drop), PC gaming is too complicated (and expensive) for my liking.

A good gaming PC just isn't worth the money to me so I'm gonna stick with the Xbox One. All that talk about specs, framerates and resolutions isn't what gaming is about imo so i really can't justify spending $700+ on a PC.

Nah, I am keeping my nice Xbone brick. There is still the Crackdown sequel and any future undisclosed exclusives left, I guess? In addition to that, some console exclusive games may theoretically end up being better on Xbone, so there is also that.

I get where you're coming from Bruce. If you were already planning to build a new rig, this news would have likely pushed anyone over the edge as it's clearly going to be one of the better looking games this year and it makes sense to want to play it on the best platform possible, but I don't know if it makes sense for someone who wasn't already considering the jump to do it.

Uhm, you don't need an external device to stream on pc....

This.

There is hilarious overreaction as always from gaming community and not surprising but holy shit. Your console will still work the same it always did. If you are going to be building a pc that costs three times more than the xbox 1 did all the more power to you, pc is amazing (I have a $3000+ gaming pc) but talking about this in terms of "heh why would I even buy a xbox now when I can build a pc" ignores common sense and economics 101 "

This is nothing but a bunch of manchildren getting jealous because more people can play the game now and it is not "exclusive" anymore.

Kudos to Microsoft for delivering on their promise.

So much salt in this thread. Why does it make a difference if a game also comes out on PC? Should all PS4 owners sell their PS4s because Firewatch came out on PC?

I will be keeping all my consoles and still building a Pascal rig once they are out. This mentality baffles me.

I like how you didn't see this coming.

Ha good point. Still I think it's great for MS. More people are buying their games regardless. If Sony did this as well I would absolutely drop the PS4 too. I think it's a win win.

Yeah I already was looking for a reason to build a new PC and QB is so gorgeous that the idea of maxing that and Gears and the next Halo(it's definitely coming) is just too tempting for me. I would get rid of the console because I don't need it taking up space.

I just recently ordered my parts and the only thing i ever play on x1 now is gears.
Itll probably get sold soon.
QB on PC was a good reason among many others.

Because there's only so many reasons to own a console in the first place? If there are only a few games on the X1 I want and the money I'd get from selling my X1 outweighs my desire to play those games and any games that would come to it in the future, why should I keep my console?

Nope, i mean i'm gonna keep my Xbox One since i already have a PC with i7 4770k and Gtx 980, being on PC at the same time i'll buy it on PC having the best graphics possible, though we still don't know if all the most important Xbox One exclusive will arrive always simultaneosly on PC, there could be cases when they'll take a few months or others where they won't ever arrive on PC, like perhaps Halo or Forza, so i'll definitely keep Xbox One and i'm very curious to see how this situation will develop and what will be the future of Xbox

For what it's worth I have a pretty substantial gaming PC (980 Ti) and I'll be playing QB on Xbox One because I prefer playing 3rd person from a controller (PC is m/kb only for me) and sitting on my couch.

This was literally the only Xbox One exclusive that I was interested in after Rise of the Tomb Raider. Now I have absolutely no reasons to get that console.

Certainly questioning if I even need an Xbox One at all. Been a waste of money for me.

Dead Rising 3's performance was horrible, then came to PC and was great.

D4 came to PC

Fable Legends coming (already came via Beta) to PC

Quantum Break coming to PC

If they port Sunset Overdrive, there will be no reasons left. And since that game didn't interest me enough to buy it, I'm not concerned.

I would sell it but I know as soon as I do they will have a reason to own one. At least I can play Perfect Dark XBLA on it. In fact Rare replay is the only reason for me to own an Xbox One.

And strangely enough, I thank Microsoft for this. As a PC gamer I appreciate the fact they are supporting it as a platform even at the cost of my previous additional love for the Xbox console.

If I had some kind of assurance that Scalebound/Crackdown 3 were coming to PC, at this point, I'd definitely consider selling it.

But Kamiya needs my money.

had a xbox one since September since i got it for 200 on cowboom. Have yet to use it. Mainly got it for scalebound and hopefully a few other exclusives down the line however probally going to give it to my brother rather game on my pc.

Do you think everyone wants to build and maintain a decent PC? Convenience and ease of use are the top 2 reasons people buy consoles, not exclusives.

I would DEFINITELY sell my PS4 if every single exclusive that I care about also came to PC.

Seriously, Uncharted and The Last of Us on PC would be amazing.

What would the gaming market be like if every single game came out on PC but some also came to one or more consoles?

Don't forget Ryse: Son of Rome and Titanfall! And Rise of the Tomb Raider.

The gaming market would be identical to where it is now. Do you think the hardcore audience makes up a significant portion of the user base for consoles or retail sales?

So you don't know how to use a controller on a PC or HDMI on a PC? My gaming rig is hooked to the same TV as my XB1 and PS4, do it right son.

Hardcore audience is important as they buy lots of games though, casual audience could spend a whole year just playing COD or Fifa.

I said it before & I'll say it again Xbox Live is the only thing that's keeping Xbox (as a console) alive right now. Kinect & the TV stuff was supposed to push Xbox to the next level where it could be sold as a licence to STB & Cable companies or whatever but now MS is looking at the Xbox & asking whats the point of it. besides Xbox Live MS will get a lot more form people buying Windows 10 STB & PCs.

No but to claim it would be identical is foolish. A lot of core users would jump ship, which in turn would affect future launches. The core users are the ones who drive those early sales. They get the ball rolling, that the casuals later start jumping on.

MS should make live free on consoles and then offer Games with Gold to PC. I reckon it'll be a hit.
