I am weirdly going to miss waiting for this game.

But god damn am I going to be so fucking esctatic when it is going to be in my hands

I was just talking about this with my wife. It's going to be so odd not waiting for this or getting frustrated with the lack of news. It's been such a tormented joyous ride *sheds tears*

I can never see LOTR gifs the same again. Always think of m_night and xv.

So true.

A personal favorite. <3

Really. It's going to be so bizarre not having Versus/XV looming over the horizon.

It's like they've conditioned us. o.O

Square does have a lot of enticing projects lined up though. We'll be alright. ;)

I hope XVI comes this gen.. I don't want mainline FFs to come out once every gen.. Hopefully they have just been keeping XVI quiet behind the scenes...

We have had some Verendus rumors so hopefully we see some sort of announcement after FFXV is released

I think the odds are fairly good for XVI to come out before this gen is up. Even with VIIR and KH3 lined up.

I just hope XVI gets plenty of attention as it will undoubtedly be an end of gen game.

Well VIIr is being mainly outsourced, KH3 is a different team than the regular FF teams, and now we just gotta see who is directing FFXVI and who else is behind it.

Kagari maybe Jun Akiyama is now on XVI? But I think FFVIIr is more likely

Good god release date hype is going to be insane! Especially is the reviews come in with great scores.

I mean my hype won't change due to those but I am sure some peoples will :(

BUT BELIEVE

I think the reviews will be great because of the scope of the game. Episode Duscae was well received already and it was only such a small part of the game with gameplay which improved a lot over the past year. (hard to believe the demo is almost over a year old).

I would hope Ito but who knows.

Honestly I do to. But I am not worried about reviews at all at least from a personal standpoint.

But yeah I can't believe it has been a year also. I just finished XII again recently so I think it is time to replay Type-0 and Duscae

I still need to finish Type 0. Got about 2/3 of the way, was enjoying it, but got sidetracked. Only game in the series along with VIII I haven't finished.

Too many games stacking up though. Still working through the Witness and TitS:SC, Fire Emblem about to drop too. Sunless Sea and Undertale in the queue, then before I know it Bravely Second and Witcher 3 Blood and Wine. Then the real heavy hitters on the back end of the year. Can't keep up!

What if the March 30 event is just SE's biggest troll ever?

They just show Final Fantasy XIII beta footage and have Shinji Hashimoto dressed as Lightning come out and say

"Please be excited."

I won't miss the waiting for the game. It has been the worst wait in video gaming history for me. I joined the FF forum I'm on in 2008 and everyone was losing interest easily throughout the years. It was like the second coming at first and then it just faded into nothingness. I can never go back and experience the wait. No way.

Demo release during conference...believe it

I actually think this will be the case as well.

Yeah I don't want to go back and experience the wait but I have a ton of nostalgia that was part of the wait considering this game was announced on my 13th birthday and will come out after I turn 23. So it will just be weird to not wait for it. I don't think any of us actually want to wait like this again.

I just wish they used FFXVI's tools and engine and pulled off new FF mainline again every 1,5-2 years for a while :)

I think that's exemplified in elements of how FF15 has been discussed by the developers - they used the term 'open world' a lot early on after the 2013 reboot, but then in the last 18 months or so have back-pedalled from that terminology with "It's open world-like, but..." -- they're still figuring so much of that out; what FF was versus what it needs to be to stand alongside those games and hopefully attract their audience
That hasn't changed, though. Even with Versus XIII, they said they'd want to make it the kind of game where they wanted for the player to be able to "go anywhere you can set your eyes on (except mountains)" but with story mandating some limitations to that freedom, even if it wasn't to be completely seamless but divided to several big regions. They want to offer the sense of an open world game where you get to explore these big (more or less) open spaces without tons of invisible walls & 10cm obstacles blocking your way if you try to get off the intended path, but with the option for the game to put story above all else in a kind of "heeeeeyheeeeyheeey, wooaaaahhh, don't get ahead of yourself, you still have to go to Altissia to meet Luna before heading to Niflheim, turn back!" forced way when players wander maybe a bit too far ahead.

They've never given any implication that they've had any intention of making FFXV "fully open" in the way that the Elder Scrolls & GTAs are open either. The advancement in technology allows them to make it more or (hopefully) even fully seamless, expand the scope of the environments and generally just do MORE with the game, but all-in-all they've been extremely consistent with that particular message through all the delays as well as the director & console generation switches; that even with the added freedom/openness of exploration, FFXV would still honor the kind of more story-driven roots of FF and they wouldn't be going all Elder Scrolls with the game.

Exactly.

I have no idea why people were having so much trouble grasping what type of 'world' FFXV would be. It's EXACTLY the same as the older FFs, but you're scaled correctly to the world and things are mostly seamless.

The format predates both the Elder Scrolls and GTA. It's older than the new 'open world' style games that's has recently come into vogue.

The developers should just say FFXV has an FFI-IX type world map. This hasn't changed since the conception of Versus, and indeed, was one of the goals of Nomura in creating Versus XIII (i.e. against XIII).

Is this a guilty pleasure movie?

It only has like a 4 on imdb

Also yeah you are old :lol We need more old guys like you excited about FFXV
Major guilty pleasure, as while the concept is neat, it's end is extremely disappointing. Still love the whole cheese-factor and demon puppets.

And yeah, everything about FFXV has me excited, with each new tidbit of information just raising that hype higher and higher.

I may have to check it out lol I love a lot of movies from the 80s.

10 years of hype..

I wonder how much mainstream advertising we are going to see for FFXV if any over here in the states

I'm pretty sure I'll feel this void inside of me once I have FF XV in my hands. The waiting and anticipation is kinda always the best thing before finally getting your hands on the game...

This happens to me with almost any game i'm heavily anticipating. Maybe a little bit before it gets into my hands, I have a little sinking feeling and start thinking negative things like "it's just a game, why was I so excited, it probably won't even be that satisfying, etc" but most of the time (at least in my case) it ends up living up.

I'm going to be very excited and slightly annoyed at the same time when I see people noticing FFXV for the first time once they make some TV ad trailers for it haha

This has already happened to me several times with this game. Then I guess I start to remind myself how amazing it is most likely going to be and how I grew up with this series, the way the FF games made me feel when I was younger and how I've been rooting for Square to make a comeback and make an FF that gives me the same sense of wonder I had back in the old days.
