Uncharted 4 delayed two weeks to May 10

Troy Baker joining Uncharted 4 is like the opposite of a controversy. :p

If the actor was replaced after mocapping was supposedly complete, it probably means what they had wasn't very good. Naughty Dog knew they could do better, and I want better. I want the best. Troy Baker is the best.
I'm still convinced that the decision to recast Stashwick was why Hennig left. He doesn't have many acting credits and is a close friend of hers.

Drives me nuts. Bruce is an incredible director.

Yeah listen to any interview with the man he just gets it. I mean they both do, but a lot of the stuff people love about Uncharted 2 and The Last of Us are because he's so good at game design. They make an amazing team.

Agreed with this, big time.

I did not know that. Interesting.

You singled out Sony when I was talking about both ND and Sony and then proceeded to mention the success of PS4 which had nothing to do with the subject.

So yeah, regardless of your intention, it definitely looked like you were going that way.

The success of the PS4 just proves that you saying Sony is incompetent is wrong!!!

As for the bold part, do you like to presume much? As i've never said anything about the competition, nor i have indicated that i want to start a silly console dispute! It seems to me that you are on some sort of crusade here, as mentioned before the reasons are of no interest to me! But calling ND and Sony incompetent is... well.. incompetent on it's own!

I guess if I were Sony and I had to choose between:

Delay the game because we have been publishing games for 20 years and somehow forgot how long the process takes on Uncharted 4, but release with ample stock.

or

Release the limited physical run and rely on the god awful network to support the excess digital downloads for the early adopters.

Yeah, I'd choose not to rely on PSN either.

And they are now writing partners. Idk if Stashwick was the whole reason Amy left, but it was likely part of it. I think they wanted some big changes to the story as a whole and game design considering the other actors who left said the new changes were very drastic, and Druckmann and Straley mentioned they had to shrink down a lot of the levels that were already made since they were way too big.

Not a massive deal at this point but it does show the game got a release date way too soon. I'm still getting the game. April is Quantum Break and Ratchet & Clank month for me :)

Maybe the pre-order demand was higher than anticipated, especially on the Limited Console front, thus the slight delay.

(Pure speculation by me, nothing more and almost certainly not 100% correct)

I believe it all stems from the 2 team split after UC2 shipped. Following UC3, the majority of the team worked on TLOU/Left Behind, where they picked up new philosophies in how to design games and integrate narrative likely developing a short hand with directors Neil/Bruce. That meant going back to different directors for UC4, who likely had a very different process, the project was unable to develop smoothly and caused friction within the studio resulting in Neil/Bruce stepping in.

Cool, give Ratchet & Clank room to breath. I hate when Sony schedules first party games so close together.

This is definitely a positive to take from it. I was nervous ratchet would get buried under the ds3/uc4 hype, but people will be thirsty for a big name exclusive and R&C will scratch that itch.

On the one hand yaaay ratchet!!

On the other..

Uncharted 4
Valkyrie chronicle remaster
Doom
Mirrors edge
One piece burning blood(collector edition)

My wallet!!

O and battleborn if anyone cares Xp

I have some serious concerns about the handling of WWS in regards to all the delays. The output has been excruciatingly slow from every major studio outside of sucker punch and you could argue GG. Dreams is a 2017 title from MM, ND continues to struggle to get UC out the gate, Sony bend keeps being teased and we haven't even seen a glimpse, SSM game was cancelled and they have yet to show anything and haven't made a retail release since ascension. Japan studios output has obviously been laughable with team ICO and of course PD taking FOREVER on whatever the hell is going on with GT7. evo struggled immensely to not only get drive club out, but to get it to work right and unfortunately were lost as a game developer to the whole debacle (despite this the final product is pretty great to be fair). There is more I'm sure I missed, but the output is disappointing given the sheer amount of studios and talent they have.
The frustrating thing is that this was supposed to be the gen where development got easier.

my speculation is that uncharted from amy was not going to end the series and neil/bruce probably wanted to end it and suggested story changes which probably did not sit well with amy who started the series!

Naughty Dog's tweet also implies it wasn't their decision to delay it.

Reading this makes me think they delayed it for Ratchet and Clank and maybe to manufacture more special edition versions.

Delayed a month or two for me then.

May 13th is Doom day, so I won't bother with Uncharted 4.

Unless the beta this weekend changes my mind.

Why didn't they think of it 2 days later?

1 week earlier?

Why don't they do their jobs right grumble grumble....

In a perfect world et al. + first world problems + sprinkle on some armchair judgment.
i think it should've been considered since the first time it was delayed, because that was the longest time period. surely at the time they didn't want to delay the game again and again (which is eventually what they did).
It's better to underprint then print more to meet demand than overprint and have copies sitting on shelves.
Right, all I am saying what they had to know from way long ago that the demand was there. Unless something occurred which to them made the realization that they were underestimating it.
Most of us don't know what the manufacturing and production process involves. There's plenty of other things behind the scenes that could happen to require extra time rather than just underestimating numbers
there is that, yeah, but other than tlou which others talked about I haven't heard of this problem before. eh, no point in really discussing it because the reality is it's coming out 2 weeks later now. no amount of complaining will do anything about that

To be fair cancelled games is a legitimately good reason, and Bend also had a cancelled Vita game before their current project.

Also don't forget that Japan Studio worked on Bloodborne with From Software. And the year before that they released 3 Vita games.

what if some of us die between that two week span??

what kind of vacation? honestly, i'd rather be able to go somewhere on a vacation and relax. i can always play the game when i get back.

What if you die on the vacation? Could easily happen, especially if it's a cruise. Then you ain't playing jack when you get back cause you ain't getting back. From one Batman to another. Respect.

All those studios besides released games right before the PS4 came out. They didn't abandon the PS3.

A bit dissapointed but in a way it's good for me. I have to hand in 2 projects for my MA on May 10th. So to celebrate all my hard work I will play UC 4 uninterrupted and guilt free, I probably wouldn't have been able to play much until then anyway. Besides they already moved the date from my 30th birthday in March, so it's not a big deal, I was pretty dissapointed when they delayed to April.

Don't forget shuhei said he didn't know why they were selling so many ps4s. Nintendo didn't expect the Wii to be so big. Sony know what they are doing with hardware but there is no way to just make something that sells like the ps4 is. There's a lot of luck as well and just all sorts of factors. Sony has it all this gen tho. If people knew how to make a guaranteed seller everyone would

Where do you read they had to shrink the levels? I saw they made some changes but not this
