The Purple Coins theme from Galaxy is the best music ever composed for a Nintendo game.

I want to like Gravity Rush, but traversing the world isn't actually any fun. It's just really dull. Combat stinks too as I spend most of my time swinging the camera around to one-button-press kill things.

The best feature of the Vita's library isn't the Japanese games or the indie games; it's not the first-party exclusives, either, however few there are. It's actually the third-party ports of 360/PS3 games that make the library so awesome.

Teleroboxer is a better Punch-Out!! game than every Punch-Out!! except for the very first one.

Kind of ashamed to admit I never realized how amazing the main theme in Galaxy is. Pretty sure it fell out of a Disney movie, no other way to explain it.

Not really a controversial view, LOL.

I honestly don't think keeping the games exclusive or not would've made much difference in the long run. The Xbox brand's severe weaknesses outside of the States and UK have been a problem long before the push to put games on Windows 10.

I wonder if there's truly no meaningful overlap, because even Sony is okay with funding games that end on PC. I for one haven't bought either console since the games I want indeed make it to PC.

But with them bringing the big guns to pc , I feel like they're definitely going to lose some console sales.

Can you explain to me what you hate about the hardware? I mean they usually work and usually have the least problems with broken hardware, they support multiple controller options and they often have fun things like music in the digital store and such.
 
Playstation plus is a benefits/Welfare system for indies to the point I wouldnt be surprised if Sony now mentions it in talks to people thinking of launching on PS4.

They have no intention of ever going back to retail titles.

It doesnt even matter if you game is good anymore. Its like there is just a list of indies that have signed up for PS+ and some just checks them off the list, one by one. Not quailty control, nothing.

Of late, being region-locked makes the hardware automatically shit from the get-go. As I've said, I won't buy an NX if it's region locked.

Besides that, some of it feels cheap and crummy to play with, Wii U Pro controller excepted. The Fisher Price tablet is the obvious example of a nightmare piece of hardware that should have never been released in its pathetic state.
 
MS need to make exclusive for Windows 10 store, not porting Xbox one exclusive, real PC only Windows store exclusive, like what Valve did with Dota2 on steam.

I'm thinking new AoE.

And fuck Halo wars 2 being on console too, it will be so much better if the game only on PC.
 
Okay, here are two opinions that always cause clashes when I mention them among friends.

1. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is my favorite Zelda ever, dethroning Link to the Past. Oh, and the OST is fucking amazing. Seen a lot of hate for it around the net for being "too generic/orchestral"
2. DmC is one of the best spectacle fighters I have ever played.

Yeah, so my taste in games blows. :P

But...im typing this to you on the gamepad righg now, I think its great and super comfortable, especially as I have big hands, the gamepad has been incredibly useful for me both for games and internet, like im watching a youtube video right now while on neogaf
 
I like Nintendo hardware, and I say this as a multiplatform player :/ I adore my N3DS with its awesome Kirby faceplates and super cool Famicom buttons, along with its super stable 3D. I love the gamepad and I play off TV almost exclusively.

EDIT: Yeah, region luck sucks, though. But 3DS is Nintendo's first region locked handheld... let's hope it's also the last one.

That's nice for you. I don't see why anyone would ever want to use a cheap feeling, uncomfortable Gamepad over something far faster and functional like a laptop or tablet.

And anyways, that doesn't fix my primary beef with the hardware which is being region locked.

What im arguing is that it doesnt feel cheap, and from the amount of times i have dropped it I can confirm it isnt cheap and that it is comfortable, also my laptop is uncomfortable being used on my bed instead of my desk which I use it for, while my WiiU is right infront of me with the controller with it where I can watch youtube videos and anime on my flat screen tv with no hassle
 
30 hours into Trails in the Sky, and it's hard to understand its legions of fans. It's a completely overrated bland and generic jrpg, just saved for the soundtrack and the characters not acting like goddamned emos (tuck you Star Ocean 4).

And well, I really really hate the thing with only keeping two characters in the party and the rest only being available in specific moments. At least it's better than your typical Tales of Whatever game, but it's not like you need to do a big effort to top those.
 
Co-op shooter might as well be slang for bulletsponge enemies in a shooting gallery with passable (at best) stories and mediocre RPG elements.

Destiny? Shit.
Borderlands 1 & 2? Shit, but I love the artstyle.
Warframe? Not quite shit, but still pretty meh.
The Division? Looks like the worst of the lot.

Co-op shooters are (often, not always) for people that suck at multiplayer to feel like they're good at something because they grinded to a new gun through time moreso than skill.
 
Hmm ..I guess I can put this here now since my taste seem to be slipping further and further from mainstream.

SFV is my current GOTY!!!!

I've already put in over 100 hours and feel like I'm just scratching the surface. I get it, casual fans need a sense of accomplishment and need modes and rpg elements to feel progress, I want those things too! But dammit get Gud! The game is so much more rewarding when you get to a competent level and have a legit chess match with your opponent. It is a highlight of the generation for me. And you guys suck who don't buy it!!

Or at least try it in June ;-]

I think the OST is the worst thing about the Souls games, I only like Firelink Shrine and Majula.
 
Picked up Twilight Princess HD on a whim, and after a bunch of hours in using Off Tv Play, my controversial opinion is that I really, really, really like the WiiU Gamepad.

Really comfy to hold, especially with that little shelf at the back to rest on your fingers that I guess redistributes some of the weight, and the gyro 'fine aim' on any of the FPS weapons is so fast and intuitive, and touchscreen menu interactions is a no brainer.
 
The original Deus Ex isn't a first-person shooter RPG, it's an first-person RPG with guns.
The way the game handles the guns is completely different than you see in any FPS and relies on the RPG element for you to even properly use it unlike a game like Borderlands or Destiny.
 
Half Life 2 is way overrated.

Tekken 4 is best Tekken in terms of aesthetics and OST and there should be at least A COUPLE of asymmetrical and uneven stages with walls again

I kind of agree. I haven't played Trails in the Sky (I do own it), but rather Trials of Cold Steel aftetr hearing so much about it, but after playing for 15 hours all I got so far is a bland jrpg that does very little do differentiate itself from the rest. The game goes somewhat deeper in its background story than most, but honestly I'm finding it hard to care about the generic characters and such. Decent game, but hard to see what's so special about it.
 
I didn't really like cold steel that much either, I got to the beginning of chapter 2 and put it on my backlog because of the generic/bland characters.

It usually occurs when a game is announced way too early for its own good. I hate that the painful process of actually making a game has become a part of its marketing campaign.

I think it makes the game lose a sense of wonder, it certainly makes the wait longer and it leads to pointless threads on GAF with titles like "What We Know About This Game..."

If a thread like that needs to be made, nobody knows clearly anything about the game that is likely to be final and it's just full of excruciating guessing and well-wishing.

I enjoy hyping up a game as the next person (to an extent) but there's a limit when we're talking about game mechanics 2 years before the fucking game's coming out.

Mario Sunshine was more fun and way more challenging than at least 80% of Galaxy

Smash Bros. Brawl, as a competitive game, was about 10x more interesting than Smash WiiU has been or ever will be

Advent Children and Crisis Core have ruined any hope of FFVII:Remake having a well-written story

Wind Waker HD looks aesthetically worse than Wind Waker GCN

Zelda has become a predictable, stagnant franchise, but will never evolve because it's immune to criticism

Recent JRPGs are a mistake, they're nothing but trash
 
They should strip out all the PvP modes from Final Fantasy XIV, trash the entire thing and focus those resources on PvE content. They can't design PvP for shit. It's unbalanced, boring and never going to change. THERE I SAID IT.

The same thing happens with movies and tv shows. It seems the average human being on the Internet is just gushing out the ass and mouth with "hype" and all they can do is fixate on insignificant details to form some kind of idea into what the product they want could possibly be until the day the product comes out. Then they're disappointed that their hilariously demanding dreams didn't come true and developers/directors/writers/publishers are all a bunch of lazy fucks that don't know a thing about what they're making.
It's so dumb.

That is factually wrong. The series has been criticized like all hell ever since Majora's Mask for various reasons YMMV depending on who you ask.

How recent is the earliest of this recency period you're talking about?
