The Division - Review Thread

Hi, I'm nortonff. I spend my life going into threads to say that I don't care about the topic of the thread. It's a really good use of my time.

It's so fucking expensive in Brazil...around R$210,00

How would this be if I were to play it as a single-player game? Still connected to the internet, mind you, but I'm not one of these "rock a headset and talk to people while I play" gamers. Is it playable alone? Does it require communication? Does it have random matchmaking and if so, will people be pissed at me for playing withput talking?

I played through Diablo 3 multiple times solo without problem, and thought it was very fun.

Cool, it's reviewing well so far. I expected to see 7s and 8s.

I had not been following the progress leading up to release, but picked this up to play with friends. I only have a few hours in, but am liking the change of pace myself.

Oh well. Glad it's a good game, I'll pick it up when it's a bit cheaper. Backlog overwhelming at the moment :^)

Dear "I didn't like the beta" people,

the full game is quite different to the beta. A lot more things to do, dz is packed full of enemies and the missions get pretty damn good.

Beta was pretty much the tutorial level.

I agree with you. However, in their defense the Destiny BETA was pretty much on point with what you got within the first year.

More or less to their point, you should know what to expect from this game by playing the BETA. Although i think it's safe to say you could expect more.

Im still have a lot of question..

1) Is good for a solo player?

2) Is repetitive?

3) Doest it has good campaign with and end?

4) I really hate enemies hordse that come to you time after time only to keep you busy and that creates a fake difficulty. Does it have this kind of thing?

5) How is the difficulty?

I hope somebody can help me with this questions...

I have severe mic anxiety and I've played with randoms a bunch of times with no issue. Might become a problem as the game progresses but it seems to work without much communication between players.

I'm really enjoying the game as well but it feels more repetitive than even Destiny. I'm looking forward to getting to the endgame so I can just focus on the Dark Zone which is a lot of fun.

I mean, it's fine, but I hope there's more to it and that it's supported well through updates. It's certainly not perfect.

hit level 12 last night and been having an absolute blast. playing with friends definitely adds to the experience but solo play has also been quite fun. i can definitely see myself playing this until endgame and beyond.

Makes sense the soundtrack is great, its their in-house composer.
The soundtrack for Ground Control and World in Conflict rocked.

that's is not expensive, thank jesus its not a EA game to be priced like R$270+ or nintendo for R$300+

it is "less expensive" but not "not expensive" =/

if you multiply for the dollar price, it is a little less than $60, so its not expensive if you think ... but still sucks for people that used to pay R$150 for a game

exactly...I'll wait for the price to drop a little.

Not surprised repetitive missions were mentioned, right now for me it's like I'm doing the exact same thing every mission but in a different location. Saying that though it's still a great game and fun with friends.

I've completely cleared 4 areas of the map and all collectables in them and the side missions have not got any better. Thankfully.....the story missions are decent.

But holy shit at the bullet sponges on hard mode missions. I honsetly though some of destiny's mobs took some damage but these guys take the cake. 5 clips to take down a standard purple in a mission......is fucking insane, they could have done a little better design on that. You can make difficult encounters thats not just numbers of enemies and them taking all your ammo to take down.

Im still have a lot of question..

1) Is good for a solo player?
I've only put about 6 hours into it, but it's been 100% solo and I've had a blast. I haven't once thought to myself, "This was obviously made for MP."

2) Is repetitive?
Again, I've only played a relatively short amount of time, but I haven't found it terribly repetitive. The mission structures are pretty similar, but there are a ton of different things you can do besides the missions. When I feel like a break, I just walk around and explore, and that has led to some of my favorite moments so far.

3) Doest it has good campaign with and end?
Can't help with this.

4) I really hate enemies hordse that come to you time after time only to keep you busy and that creates a fake difficulty. Does it have this kind of thing?
I haven't found that the release of enemies has felt cheap or created a fake difficulty.

5) How is the difficulty?
So far, so good. During normal gameplay, it feels challenging without being frustrating. The mission bosses can be tricky, but it's usually just about finding patterns and finding the best cover.

I hope somebody can help me with this questions...

See above.

Remember when everyone was sure this would be the Most Disappointing Game for 2016?

wow.

I remember being laughed at because I said that while it is an Ubisoft-published title, it's more importantly made by Massive. This might be their first console game, but they always deliver.

It feels like a mix of some of my favourite mil-simesque combat games: Freedom Fighters, Pay Day 2 and Splinter Cell.

Venturing around the PVE area in co-op is quite fun. DZ coop is off the charts fun.

DZ solo is hilarious, as long as you don't get too annoyed at being hunted for sport.

1. I'm having fun doing solo missions and being a lone wolf in the dark zones.
2. Yes.
3. I haven't finished it yet, but I'm enjoying the story. The collectables also tell small stories that have added to the world. I've really enjoyed collecting and listening to them.
4. You'll notice that a bit in the Dark Zones, but I didn't really notice it outside.
5. Depends. It's has RPG type leveling and gear so you could outlevel the area that you're in. No clue what happens when you hit end game.

YMMV.

Also I don't know what the hell Giantbomb was talking about how this game has no humor in it. The people who give you the side quests at the safe houses have been exactly that if you listen to them as they're briefing you on the missions. Well, at least you can tell they're trying. I found some pretty humorous.

After playing it for hours and hours, i can't imagine people really giving it a bad score.
Maybe if they think the gameplay is a bit repetitive.. But wow, it's a great game.

A shame the character creator is so lackluster.

Uh, so it's good as a solo experience? That's cool. Is there a story?

yes but it's MUCH more fun in a team of 4. There is a story, don't expect much. However, you can find footage (intell) throughout the game that tells you more about the story. Those vids are pretty great. And you can find "echoes". Spots that carry memories of what happened.

WOW! Thanks!
I will maybe buy it.

One last question? How is the machmaking? In Destiny I felt like I joined a troope but I did the missions alone at the end (The were doing their own missions in the same map. Is the same here?

Matchmaking works very solid but playing with friends is even more fun the Voip sound quality is damn good in this game.

fact The Division is the best open-world that Ubisoft has ever created, while the gameplay is consistently entertaining and cohesive. The deep RPG elements and tactical gunplay just add to that. Plus, the fact you can get so much enjoyment out of being a solo player, with that experience heightened by buddying up, is quite a feat.
Oh man I may have to get this game.

Agreed but there isn't much they can do outside of fast travel. The street are too cluttered to use a vehicle to get around.
.
Motorcycles, which they already have a decent template for thanks to Watch Dogs.
And I think it would work as the streets are cluttered enough people could not just fly down them, but not cluttered enough they could not get around things if they were driving slower.
