Massive ongoing protest in Chicago makes Trump "postpone" his event

That was Don Lemon's best interview in his entire life.

Don has a lot of interviews where he pushes people like that. I really don't understand the hate. He says some stupid shit sometimes, but overall he's definitely on the better side of the CNN spectrum and does call people out on facts while he's interviewing them.

Granted, CNN, MSNBC and Fox are all varying levels of shithole, but still.

If protesters effectively shut down Trump's free speech by drowning it with their free speech, that's not free speech at all. That's just sabotage. If protesters want to speak their mind, they should do so when Trump is finished. Again, imagine Trump supporters storming a Clinton rally and drowing her speech with their loud protests. Would that be okay to you? I think it'd be idiotic.

I don't know about the USA, but in Germany, when a political party crosses a certain line, the court will declare that party illegal and ban it. The NPD is pretty much under permanent watch because of their radical rightwing views. The same is true for the newer AfD who's members proposed shooting refugees, if they illegally cross the border. There got to be a similar option in the USA, no?

Yup, free speech doesn't permit hate speech in a lot of countries

Nothing like that exists in America.

People will see this as a black people and left-wing protest, wounded police officers, etc., and Trump will go up in the polls. Watch it. Especially since this is in Chicago.

I still can't believe that Trump interview on CNN was real. He's soaking all the attention dialing into all the major networks and working the news cycle.

I'm not talking about the quality of his speeches, those are utter nonsense.

I'm talking about the message he's sending, the rhetoric that he's pushing.

He's driving a wedge between people and that's intentional.

There's a reason why he didn't disavow what Dukes said, why it's only his rallies where people get sucker punched.

Yeah and I think that reason is far simpler than some grand purposeful strategy; he's just an asshole who never turns down praise because his ego is too big to question people who claim to endorse him.

So what if he goes up in the polls? Like the republican primary matters at this point.

People protesting like crazy at Trump but not at Cruz. Lame.

Indeed, Cruz is a psycho, but he hides it well. Very dangerous man; and I'd be dead scared of him leading the country.

Overall, republicans are fucked and sucks that Obama can't pull a Putin and just server a little longer haha.

I don't agree with a lot of things Obama did, but it seems to be the lesser of all evils.

Trump has the right to spew whatever nonsense he wants. The citizens of Chicago have the freedom of assembly to run him out of town.

Regardless these protests need to keep happening. Would NOT be shocked if the GOP establishment started to mobilize their base to "sabotage Trump rallies.

That's true for Sanders and Clinton too, and I don't see anyone else winning anyway, but it's still a long while until then.

I hate this shit. It implies that Obama and Democrats are Evil or Bad. What truly despicable things have Democrats ever done that they would be lumped in with Republicans?

People do this false equivalence shit all the time because they think that it substitutes for nuanced analysis. It only fools people who are ignorant of the facts.

"Oh, well, everyone is racist. Some black people tell jokes about white people. Some white people physically attack black people at white nationalist rallies. You know, it's all equal!"

As I said, the reason I don't vote is generally because I'd rather not vote than vote uninformed and I generally don't have enough of an interest in politics or enough time to properly inform myself. The main reason Trump would be different is because I feel I've seen far more than enough of him to know he'd be an absolute nightmare in office

Kirk's seat is up for re-election this year. We (as in the state of Illinois) have a chance to turn one of the Republican seats Democratic. That should be enough of a reason to at least inform yourself about the candidates and make a decision as to that.
