To be fair, I don't think it's possible for Joss Whedon to direct a movie you'd enjoy.
A must be one of the handful of people on Gaf who thought AoU was really good.

The quote comes from the Crave Online piece, which said the following:

Sounds like this Joss Whedon guy isn't trying hard enough then.
Thats prolly likely but it's definitely the sloppiest of his films.
As meh as avengers was on a rewatch for me it's still a much tighter (but admittedly simpler) narrative than age of ultron.
They should have just axed the setups for future movies and stuck with ultron in general.
And tbh just made quicksilver and witch American lol. I can't with that accent. Quicksilver in particular just sounded absurd
But not making them sokovian (?) Would have definitely required a lot of reworking of the scripts. So its understandable why they had to be foreign
in the civil war super bowl thread one poster was saying that AOU was as bad as transformers 2
I mean cmon

Please. Don't let the posts fool you. Lots of people myself included loved the film. It was great, just not as good as the first.
The dirty secret about a film series that's ostensibly supposed to be action/adventure:
All the best moments (and I mean all of them), the most endearing, most engaging moments, are the moments where people are just sitting in a room and bullshitting with each other.
They're sci-fi sitcoms that have fights break out every 15 minutes.
That sounds derogatory, but it's not. It's actually pretty smart.
I believe we can say that about most divisive films. Iron Man 3, Man of Steel, AoU. The lesson is, be kind to each other. Respect other opinions. Treat others as you'd like to be treated.
I gotta wonder if it was designed to be that way from the start, by a committee, or if it was a sort of happy accident that RDJ's and Favreau's Iron Man was such a perfect character for that kind of world dynamic.
We're likely missing a lot of context. The Russos have continually said if Winter Soldier is a political thriller, then Civil War is a psychological thriller, which is something we haven't really seen evidenced in the trailers yet. I'm super curious how that manifests itself in the plot.

AoU suffered from being both a case of Whedon going off the rail with his excesses and Whedon being confined to certain editorial mandates. I think there's a better movie that was shot than what we finally got, and I say that as someone who genuinely enjoyed AoU. It was fun bit it's a lot of wasted potential.
Ummm no...Superman Returns is divisive, Man Of Steel is just poop.
Surely you know by now Neogaf posters tend to exaggerate everything they like and dislikes.
Ummm no...Superman Returns is divisive, Man Of Steel is just poop.
If Man of Steel is poop then AoU is vomit covered poop with burnt hair on top. I enjoyed both films. Imagine that...Ummm no...Superman Returns is divisive, Man Of Steel is just poop.
Suppose the dissonance comes from the costume being not quite cheap and not quite fancy. Some call it a Halloween costume. Some say it's sleeker than a kid could build. In my opinion, it's fancier than the ASM2 suit. #TeamStarkSuit #BlackPanther #Whowillwin
When someone says "homemade", I think this suit looks beyond what we are supposed to believe is made by Peter "Struggle-Man" Parker, a teen in high school being raised by a widowed aunt. Especially, when we see a possible location of Peter's house in this trailer with broken tile and newspaper taped to the windows for curtains.
If that is the case, this is not the costume he made himself. I don't believe it is, quote me on that.
Hawkeye what you runnin towards dawg
What if Peter designs the suit completely, including the lenses and the webshooters, and takes advantage of his internship to fabricate it using Stark's next gen 3D printer.
I'm starting to believe the Spider-Man suit is real, and not CGI. I love that Spidey logo on his chest as well.
Black Widow.
They're around the same power level.
That would be a cool way to do it, but I think the idea is that he is already Spider-Man and has been operating as him already. That would probably mean he has some type of costume to hide his identity, even if he goes the Matt Murdock route.

That Ant-Man mask looks terrible geez
Pretty sure that's the editing of the colors blowing out the contrast. If you'll also notice, the ground is completely solid white![]()

At first I didn't like the tiny spider emblem, but it's already grown on me. The modern, angular design really screams "Marvel" to me. It kinda reminds me of the abdomen portion of Captain America's more recent suits.
To CQC with Widow because it worked out so well the last time.Hawkeye what you runnin towards dawg
Rewatched the movie a week ago and I wouldn't say I felt exhausted, but the movie is just to damn full.I should watch AoU again. All I remember is leaving the cinema feeling exhausted.
It's almost wrong to hope for it in a movie that stuffed, but would a video message from Michael Douglas be too much? He killed it in Ant-Man.That Ant-Man suit is so fucking boss. I wonder who supes it up for him.
Man I can't wait for this. Hopefully Spidey's got a proper role, not just a endgame cameo.
