Why you gotta wear a disguise over your disguise, Batman?

facepalm.gif

Iron Man went toe to toe with Thor in the first Avengers and no one had this issue. Come on now, you have a Supergirl avatar so I assume you watch that show. It's the same reason Kara isn't shredding through enemies every week.

I haven't watched it yet :(

They shouldn't have spoiled that either. That would have been a great theater moment unspoiled.

Yeah that would have been awesome, but in terms of marketing to the widest audience possible they needed to show her in a 'badass' moment. To sell the idea of the Trinity to people who don't really follow comics.

Batman has been in JL stories facing off against aliens with Supes and Wonder Woman alongside starring in Batman stories where he fights mob bosses, psycopaths, and femme fatales for over 50 years in the comics. Don't see why that would be weird in film.

I'm talking about if they go from an invincible god smashing him through buildings to him fighting Two Face goons in an alleyway. I'm just wondering how that will feel after this movie.

I mean, this is the thing I'm having a little difficulty swallowing with this film - Batman would be crippled or very badly injured after a single attack from Superman. From the level of power he displayed in Man of Steel there's no way a regular human could fight him.
"If Clark wanted to he could use his superspeed and squish me into the cement. But I know how he thinks. Even more than the Kryptonite, he's got one big weakness. Deep down, Clark's essentially a good person ... and deep down, I'm not."

You must have never gone into practically any movie thread on GAF. Any Marvel thread has "Looks like a TV show!" at least more than once. Revanant threads were full of praise for the cinematography the past few months. etc etc
nope not really. just the comic book ones. and in those most of the time the discussions are about the plot

I'm sorry but it's the underlying tone since forever about this movie here, everything is nitpicked to hell and back. I've seen him gush in marvel threads no suspension of disbelief there
I know that the movie has been getting some undeserved flak (and some deserved too) but let the haters hate. The movie will have to speak for itself. If it's good it's good.

To nail that point home, that fight ends when Batman has Catwoman grab Lois and put her in a life-threatening situation, so Supes is forced to save her, thus breaking Poison Ivy's mind control

Also he hides in lead-lined tunnels to escape Supe's vision and uses the city's electrical grid to stun him

Considering Lex Luthor is Superman's main villain and is just a really smart dude, it doesn't matter. In a world of aliens and shit, man is still a very dangerous threat.

No more weird than having Superman face a squad of Kryptonian soldiers and then just some guy in a metal suit.

Yeah I was really surprised they showed him right off the bat. Contrast it with the Suicide Squad trailer where they still havent really shown who or what the big bad of the movie is. I think that the SS trailers have been consistently much better then the ones for BvS.

Wait till SS gets closer to release, you'll know everything about it by then.

Does anyone know when the press showings will be for this, basically when can we start to expect reviews?

I am afraid you are right but I hope they see just how positive all the buzz has been, at least in part because they didnt give the whole movie away day one.

It happened last Week and buzz is positive :)

BvS didn't either, in fact the first teaser showed less than the SS trailer. It wasn't until the 2nd official trailer, that they showed one of the big parts of the movie.

It's part of the marketing cycle, and the general audience isn't like us that watches every single clip released. Marvel did the same with AoU, they showed a lot of shit before the movie came out, it's normal for these kind of movies.

Marvel had entire uncut clips from AoU on their YT page. Like 15% of the movie was just sitting there. That was really weird.

And most recent Star Wars did the same thing. Or was accused of the same thing at least.

Im more willing to defend Batgod armor tanking Superman than I am Captain America punching Iron Man

Plus cough cough krytponite cough

Also, its my belief that the intention here wasnt to make a supremely comic accurate Batman. I see a lot of similarities to the DCAU and Arkham series Batmen. The glide across the room freeflow fighting, bullet dodging, Omega Beam outrunning type Batman

Why does everyone ignore the comic book bullshit suit that batman is wearing

FWIW there was a quote from Snyder way back that the suit is not a super powered armor; it doesn't give Batman super strength or anything, it's just to protect him so he can take the punishment Supes dishes out. I guess it remains to be seen, but the way the director tells it it's not gonna be a bullshit suit.

(They're obviously going to fall back on Kryptonite, but as a plot device I really dislike that. I hope I'm wrong and they do something more interesting).

Stay down. If I wanted it, you'd be dead already.

I'm not even gonna question the logic of this film I'm just going in for a good time and exposing
Doomsday
has to be the greatest hollywood trailer fuck up ever.

And my disbelief is that the airport standoff in civil war will just end up with Ironman having a blackeye and some z tier superhero dead in between happy jokes, why is it so hard to have a difficulty with batman and superman fighting when they've been doing it for decades in comics and animations whyyyy

Y'all know damn well we don't grade Marvel and DC movies on the same curve around these parts.

Yeah, fair enough, although the Iron Man films went to significant effort to show Stark creating a limitless power source and building and testing his suits to be the best they could be. Here we have Batman fresh off of the Nolan films where he was relatively grounded with his tech, stepping into a suit of armour that enables him to go toe-to-toe with someone who can basically fly through a building and lift a train unscathed. I know I'm being nitpicky, I guess it's in part because I never liked The Dark Knight Returns very much, and even when I read that took issue with Batman beating Superman in a fight.

I was really hyped for this movie last year at this time. Then it died a bit with the Doomsday trailer, but ever since it has been growing and growing the more I see. I cannot wait.

Just noticed this but does it not look like his eyes glow kind of greenish... maybe that is the kryptonite and thus him blocking that blow so easily.....????

I'm not seeing green.

But Batman didn't beat Supes in that fight. In the end, he had broken ribs and a busted wrist and Supes was just breaking a sweat. It wasn't a Batman win at all (at least not physically)

I see this a lot, when I went to watch TFA, and that trailer played that final shot with the trinity was met with a cheers and applause. That trailer just wasn't for the hardcore nerds like us. The other trialers that played when I went to watch TFA got muted response and no reaction whatsoever.

I'm pretty sure if the new CW trailer plays in front of BvS Spidey appearance is gonna get a bunch of cheers too. These end of trailer moneyshots are exclusively for this reason.

Again with the doomsday thing.
Doomsday is most likely not the big baddy. And even if he were, there were rumours he would be in this movie for like a year before that trailer was released. Also, who are you going to have Superman fight aside from Doomsday/Darkseid now that you've got Zod out of the way?
We all know Darkseid is the endgame. Is that also a spoiler? Heck, you saw a his hoard flying parademons in that very same trailer just right there, in the middle of the trailer. That constitutes a bigger spoiler as to the overall big bad guy in the next couple of movies, let alone this movie.
Doomsday is just a big brawler. A boring version of the Hulk pretty much (at least as he was in the cartoons), there is nothing being spoiled by having doomsday show up. It's like people complaining about the Hulk showing up. Doomsday doesn't even do anything- just stares angrily after jumping out of a building. Hulk saving Iron man in the avengers was a bigger spoiler no one seemed to complain about.

Oh yea. I went there.

Dunno why people are putting such a high premium on their presumed reaction to Doomsday's introduction in the film.

"They put Doomsday in the trailer!"
"So?"
"So it could have been a surprise!"
"Would you really have been surprised?"
"Yes!"
"No you wouldn't. The film is going to make it super-fucking-clear long before it happens that Doomsday is coming."
"But now I'm not surprised at all"
"You were never going to be surprised. This isn't a surprise. It's not meant to be."

Superman has a gigantic rogues gallery that can all, for the most part, pose a decent physical threat to him. The notion that virtually no one in the DCU can stand up to Superman is utter nonsense.

But other than that I agree. Doomsday is possibly the most boring Superman villain to ever enter the public consciousness. Doomsday sucks. He sucks real bad. He doesn't deserve any better than a swift beatdown at the hands of a proto Justice League.

Oh yea. I went there.

Doomsday reveal neutered all the excitement and tension of a Batman v Superman fight since we were shown they're all chummy.

Yes we knew they'd join forces but seeing it made all the hype about their fight evaporate.

Since then they've kept Doomsday away from the trailers and hyped up the fight again and it's been to the benefit of the films exposure.

We've been talking about this in the "trailers spoil too much!" thread from this weekend, but it's amazing how most of these complaints come from people

1) watching movies with really predictable plots
2) guessing as to their level of spoiled without having any real clue as to whether their assessment is even accurate
3) unsure as to what is or isn't a spoiler, period.

It mimics the comic book but completely misses the point of the story and the tone

No it doesn't. People say this a lot and it doesn't make any sense. It doesn't nail the book 100%, no. But it doesn't "miss the point of the story" at all. The discrepancies come from the book being a book about superhero books that has to be a book to work as well as it can, and the movie - even if you had Stoppard adapting it and Madden directing it, you still wouldn't be able to do what the book does.

It could have been a movie about movies in that same way, but it wasn't. But that also doesn't mean its adaptation of the story, and its deconstruction of the superhero, was missing the point. It got the point. It just didn't explain it as well as the book did. I'm still unconvinced any movie could have.

Please please please I hope Batman puts an asswhopping on Supes.
No way this happens mate. Snyder is a huge Superman fan and basically said cmon and laughed when asked if Batman can beat Supes at a comicon or some event. Just hope Superman doesn't humiliate him once the traps are done, that's my expectation at the moment. :\

Because knowing they fighting something and then form the justice league is any different from no Doomsday and forming the Justice league?

I don't expect humiliation. Superman don't roll like that. The moment he sees Batman struggle, he'll offer him a hand up. Even if the fight gets nasty. Superman doesn't kick people when they're down. Hell, I wouldn't even be surprised if Superman ends up tanking some damage for Batman that otherwise would've killed him while they're still fighting.
