Early impressions start rolling out for Batman v. Superman

I just can't believe the movie is actually finally coming out. It feels surreal. Seems like I have been waiting for this move almost as long as James Camerons Spider-Man back in the day when it was announced. At least this one finally made it.

In short:

The trailers are deceptive
Batfleck is best live-action Batman to date
Gal Gadot steals the show

http://comicbook.com/2016/03/21/first-reactions-to-batman-v-superman-are-very-positive/

Does this affect anyone's RT prediction?

Why is everyone ignoring this?

Half of those impressions are from Carl Cunningham.

He is the public relations specialist on the film!

I love Keaton more than anyone, but this is the best live action Batman ever. And it's not even remotely close. #BatmanvSuperman Carl Cunningham (@carlcunningham) March 21, 2016

Also, naysayers... Zack Snyder + Chris Terrio = WIN. You want a race, well DC may have just caught up with one movie. #BatmanvSuperman Carl Cunningham (@carlcunningham) March 21, 2016

Orders of magnitude better than MAN OF STEEL. #BatmanvSuperman Carl Cunningham (@carlcunningham) March 21, 2016

Also, many aspects are not what people are expecting. The trailers were cleverly deceptive. #BatmanvsSuperman Carl Cunningham (@carlcunningham) March 21, 2016

While I don't think that's the same guy, a quick look at his Twitter shows he clearly had a bias before going in:

Carl Cunningham ‏@carlcunningham Feb 11
I just came online really quick to see how many morons still think Ben Affleck won't make a good Batman.

Carl Cunningham ‏@carlcunningham Feb 18
The entertainment media is doing its damned best to pre-tank @BatmanvSuperman. I haven't seen anything this blatant in a long time.

Carl Cunningham ‏@carlcunningham Feb 18
Most bloggers and outlets already have their "Failure" articles ready to go should @BatmanvSuperman make less than $1.5-2 Billion worldwide.

Then he's gonna get into some trouble for bashing Goyer.

Probably because it's one out of hundreds of comments, and he isn't hiding the fact that he's a PR person. Hell, the opposite has been happening for awhile via astroturfing.

Oh I am still seeing this and I am excited for it. Just was pointing out how crazy that was.

I feel like a lot of people here want this movie to fail. Meanwhile, I'm just geeking out that in a few days I can finally witness Batman face off against Superman in live action.

nobody is seeing this for cavill though

Superman is my all time favourite comic character and the original is my favourite movie. I don't mind Batman but he's a veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy distant second on my DC character list (my actual second all time favourite comic book character would be Captain America!).

I can understand why they didn't want to do a straight Superman sequel as Man of Steel was utter trash script and acting wise. But for this movie to start off as a Man of Steel sequel with a Batman cameo, to Superman being reduced, Batman being increased and then it also to be used as a springboard to a Justice League universe movie..... I'm like ewwwww. I am more of a DC fan than Marvel, but DC/WB are just playing catch up and won't live up to anything Marvel have done previously.

I want a Superman film that brings out the same feels I get from the original movie. Something with the same heart and soul.

Getting ready to head out in a bit. Eagerly anticipating a far too busy line.

Looking forward to your review. I liked Penguin and Verendus's write up, but you're less invested in the film as those two are (though Verendus really wasn't a mega DC fan or anything).

I think Batman acts like an asshole from the trailers I watched (Branding, looks a bit unhinged, looking to be the instigator with his 1% talk). I'm team Superman for now.

Let me fix that for you, my good man.
Yup. The Xmen Apocalypse threads are just as bad if not worse. Marvel movie threads are filled with the same diatribe too (lol TV quality cinematography).

What a time to be alive though. In a few days, we will witness Batman and Superman in the same movie!

See with this, I would have cared if Zod had meant something to him. This was the biggest missed opportunity in the film: for Zod to be a third father figure for him and a means to feel wanted by someone for once (contrast to him being picked on by earthlings all his life and told by Kent to endure it for their sake). as it is, i have no idea why he cried.

Because he wanted to be a bridge between two peoples, not to have to be forced to pick one over the other.

Thank goodness people are saying it's good. I was so fearful it would be bad. And it makes me really happy to hear people are enamored with Gal Gadot's performance, because Wonder Woman is probably my third favorite DC character after Black Adam and Batman*.

* Technically my favorite is John Constantine, but he'll always be a Vertigo character to me and his atrocious DC clone is false. False!

Edit: comic nerds are typically the harshest on these films, so if they're saying it's good, I'll trust the film to at least be serviceable and not cock

Was hoping for impressions but a PR guy having the most quoted impressions on outlets is disheartening.

The astroturfing is a shame too.

Guess I'll just wait until reviews roll out...

And then he goes and says "Krypton had its chance!" before dooming the entire race.

Some bridge...

All he meant was that Earth should not be sacrificed to give Krypton another chance. Krypton could have survived but they chose to doom the planet. Superman represents the best of Krypton.

...And, as was said, the Codex was in Supes.

Them Junkie XL Batman themes in the OST,

I said damn. Glad he finally getting credited a long side Zimmer.

Which tracks? I've been looking for a great Batman theme, but... all I've heard are some violin movements. Which are cool, but it's more of a motif than a big memorable theme, which Batman really needs. I didn't even feel like Batman had a great theme in the Dark Knight films, just motifs that felt like they were building into a main theme proper but didn't quite get there.

And then he goes and says "Krypton had its chance!" before dooming the entire race.

Some bridge...

He says that after learning that the entire planet ignored his father and Zod wanted to do exactly to Earth what their people had done to Krypton--and destroy all of humanity in the process. Kal-El had spent his entire life growing up with and loving Human's. You can't expect him to throw away 20+ years of ties just because the guy who killed his real dad but happens to be part of the same race as him shows up.

I hope that in Justice League they give Superman that same sense of presence that Hulk had in Avengers. Not in the sense that he should just go ham and destroy buildings but rather the other characters hype him up throughout the movie.

Like when Stark responds to Loki's "I have got an army" by saying "we've got the Hulk"... I want Batman to hype up Superman in front of Darkseid or whoever the villain is.

Nothing was doomed. It's still all in supes

It's like people don't know the codex is in Superman. He didn't doom anything.

Which means nothing since without the world engine or the tech to extract the info from his blood the race is still extinct.

Unless Faora and those others sucked into the black hole were't killed.

Edit: and yes I saw in the trailer that Lex uses Krypton tech to create Doomy. No doubt it will be destroyed at the end leaving us back at square one.

Which tracks?
I really like "Beautiful Lie" and "Do You Bleed?" and I guess you hear it in "Black and Blue" too.

Granted, Mad Max FR had the better Batman themes, to be honest.

Well, that's Zimmer for you. Granted, Junkie XL did all the Batman themes (to my knowledge) and he's Zimmer lite. I feel the same way honestly if we're talking about "themes" in the sense of God tier universal themes that Elfman and Shirley Walker gave us, but I guess I'm mostly picturing it for the tone of the film. I like what I hear.

The World Engine isn't needed for that. The Genesis chamber inside his ship is. Which we know from BvS trailers still exists.

The fun part of Darkseid is you can riff on this have supes get pwned and get a "Puny Kryptonian." line out of it.

There is a track on TDKR OST that finally ends the theme.

As someone who listens to A LOT of scores, the BvS score sounds like to be brutally honest hot garbage. And I don't feel that way very often about *any* score. It's just a mess of noise and tons of percussion. The Batman "theme" is exhausting and boring. Holkenborg was on such a roll with Mad Max and Deadpool. Bummer. Zimmer's contribution to the score with parts of Man of Steel's theme are the few highlights of the album. It just feels rushed and uninspired.

You can't churn out a winner every time...

I didn't like ot either, but Luthor's theme was great. Zimmer's loud drum crusade against melody is getting tiring. I say he should be retired and Junkie to get the main helm.
