Early impressions start rolling out for Batman v. Superman

One of the grumpier reviewers in Norway (works at the biggest newspaper here, VG) gave it as close to a 6 star rating as possible. Gushing through the whole review. The only con was that there was some short cuts used to tie the story together. He is not know for giving high scores to action movies, so this is highly promising.

If it's any consideration I never really noticed the shaky cam

Well i constantly noticed it in MOS so no, it's not... I remember the shaky cam totally ruined the emotional scene in MOS where papa Kent tells Clark that he should have let the kids drown. Totally ruined it for me.

Worse than Man of Steel?

I'd have to re-watch Man of Steel, but probably about the same. When the action starts, he's dialed in and it's very easy to follow, but everything else...Like, there's some shots that I have no idea why they were so shaky. Chill the hell out, Zack!

Everything is clearer than Man of Steel
Damn that sucks. And I love MOS.

Bleh. Alrighty then. As long as the action is sweet.

Dropped $79 for this. It better be good.
He also repeats MoS's zoom-ins during fast action which was disorienting in night scenes.
Oh no, I love that shit. I'm just miffed by shaky cam in scenes were characters are at a standstill or are being static. Unnecessary shaking on someone's face or a closeup and things like that.

Oh! How could I also never mention that this is one of the very rare movies where you have to see it IMAX to bring it all in.

This is good! I think we found the main problem with the film and it's the editing. Thanfully we're getting a Director's Cut however Terrio said yesterday he's seen a 6 hours cut so imagine how much was cut.

here is the review btw. http://www.vg.no/rampelys/film/filmanmeldelser/filmanmeldelse-batman-v-superman/a/23644442/

Don't know how good Google can translate it, but normally the Norwegian English translation is fairly good.

It gets 5 out of 6 in an other newspaper here, they usually give high scores to good action movies, so these two reviews makes it very clear that it is a very solid comic book movie. But there seems to be some issues with a straight forward plot with little surprises.

Looking forward to watching this on Sunday. While I didn't love MoS, I still liked it and enjoyed it, I expect this to be similar, if not a bit better at least.

I'm still not liking all of the idea's they went with (older Batman, dead Robin) DC's way of dealing with a shared universe still seems rushed to me, just because Marvel did it so well by letting the characters and story build over multiple movies and a TV show before the Avengers, while DC seem to be skipping the build up and throwing in multiple characters right away.

I still think Civil War will be the better movie overall, my personal opinion of course but I just find Marvel's way of doing things better for my tastes that's all. Which is a shame because Batman is my favourite comic book hero and I would love a Batman movie that really captures Batman like in the comics, a Noir style detective story would be great, as we never get much of Batman as a detective in the movies.

Despite all that, I'm still confident I will enjoy BvS and it should deliver in the action department. That last trailer showing Batman fighting was pretty awesome and the 3 v 1 Doomsday fight should be entertaining.

One question, is there palm to the forehead moment like the Tornado moment in MoS.

As soon as I learned that they shot some stuff with imax cameras, I started hoping there would be a non-3d imax release (which there is). Have my tickets booked for a proper IMAX showing on Sunday.

I hope the bluray handles those scenes like TDK handled them. Expanded frame for the imax shots. I was so disappointed when the bluray for Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol didn't expand the frame for those gorgeous scenes.

I'm glad to see Snyder get some redemption after MoS. I'm also glad to hear Wonder Woman steals the show, that is the highlight for me. So glad to finally see her on the big screen.

It's a good trans. Thanks.

I'm surprised you all consider it as a a solo sequel to man of steel. I was under the impression that it if it were ever considered a solo superman sequel, that would have been for a very short amount of time after MoS released, I know it was always formally announced as BvS.

NEVER TRUST VERENDUS

I will never be sucked into the vortex of madness that is wrasslingaf.

Where are people getting this and more importantly, why are people saying it? Haha. She's in very little of this movie as Diana and even less as Wonder Woman. If you've seen all the trailers, you've seen 80% of her in costume. If anything, Diana steals the show, but I think that is probably a great stretch, honestly. She doesn't do much of anything, unfortunately.

Many are saying this. And she doesn't have to be in much of the movie for her parts to be awesome. It's coming from fans and critics alike. Many are pumped for the WW after this one

I'll wait till more reviews and non fan reviews hit. Let's not forget how favorable episode one reviews were when they first came out

So far everyone here who has seen the movie has been critical of it. Not like we are all just hand waving it's flaws.

GAF has so many varying opinions on every movie that it can be really hard to track how well a movie will be received.

Only trust me.
I am the one true review god.
Praise Madokah.

Or just go watch the movie, if you like Snyder's films you'll have fun

When I heard WW was awesome in this, I expected character wise. But someone else mentioned it was more in the vein of Faora from MoS (forgettable character with good action). Is that true?

Haha. I think it was me that said that. Yesterday. Before I saw the movie.

I'll say this though: it's like Quicksilver in Days of Future Past. Everyone thought he looked dumb but he had a cool scene so he became the star of the show. Everyone has been shitting on Gal Gadot because of her looks and acting, but she did well in her scenes and seems like a cool Wonder Woman so people will say she stole the show. If you're seeing it because you think it's going to be a great showcase for this character, you should curb your expectations or you'll probably be disappointed. This is not her movie after all.

Oh haha, that was you? Cool and thanks for the impressions!

I didn't want to get myself needlessly hyped. I'm going in with fairly tempered expectations tonight.
