I liked Man of Steel and will most likely enjoy this one but if Zack Synder makes another critically reviled movie are they really gonna let him direct Justice League? Like, is DC really okay with rolling in the money but having their most important movie getting pooped on and tore apart like the Transformers films?

Well, they keep asking Michael Bay to direct Transformers films... They honestly care far more about money than critical reviews.

If it makes Transformers money i don't think they care. Would love to see someone else helm the DCCU but that's not happening i'm afraid.

Well considering the reaction so far from people who have seen it (aside from one posted negative review that does nothing but make Marvel comparisons), the reaction seems mixed at worst. Plus they're not even a full month from filming JL, and that's probably not going to change either.

WB gives their directors the most creative freedom by far. George Miller got carte blanche on Mad Max, and that shit made no damn sense. They are ready and willing to try the craziest shit possible, like giving Snyder the keys to the comic book kingdom.

They should be fine, they can be shit movies that get panned critically like Transformers as long as they bring in money.

This is false.

How so?

Well,... if it works...

This whole affair has felt like a repeat of ASM 2.

jesus that sounds like a fucking nightmare. couldn't enjoy a single second of asm2 since it was so transparent with its intention to kick start a cinematic universe. the entire movie was 'hey, look at this guy, he exists and will be important eventually if you pay to stick around. its super interesting and mysterious, we promise' multiplied over several characters without an actual story in the movie I was watching.

ASM2 and Iron Man 2 are IMO two of the worst comic movies ever made since they're not even movies; They're 2 hour long trailers for future films that you paid $10+ for the privilege of seeing.

Presumably there's a ton of stuff in the film that the trailers don't even really hint at.

He's seen all the marketing, and has seen the movie, so he's in a pretty decent position to debunk or confirm the notion that the marketing's spoiled the film to some degree.

Just lower your expectations. There's a lot of great stuff but honestly I felt like it should've either been two movies or they should've saved some stuff for the next one.

I'm not crazy hyped because I never seen a Snyder movie I enjoyed, but it's still Batman V. Superman how can I not be hyped. I feel this movie sets the whole tone for DC's movies.

Honestly Marvel kicked off their universe with Iron Man, Hulk, or Iron Man 2. Flawed movies with some great elements and good casting. This is similar to those (but better than the latter two)

I am a little worried that mixing two different plots (the dawn of the JL and the conflict between Batman and Superman) is going to make for a more convoluted movie. Too much going on is always a bad thing. I don't know yet, but I just wonder if these they shouldn't have had the JL stuff in this particular movie. I guess I'll find out when I watch it myself.

*gulp* uh oh. i have some bad news...

Yeah its difficult for me to trust some of you, Anyone who hated MOS, loses a little bit of credibility with me because its one of the most important films of the last decade.

So, uh..about that

I mean, I knew it. The moment this film was announced I knew we'd have another ASM2/Iron Man situation.

But still...FFS.

Sorry but that honor goes to Avengers, like it or not. It completely changed the way movie studios do comic films. They all now chase that cinematic universe $$$.

It's ok. It's an important movie because it's absolute carnage and shit gets real, but..eh.

If it helps, it's not nearly as bad as the other two. I'm still mad about Iron Man 2.

To you sure. It was one of the most garbage superhero films I've ever seen, and has aged even worse.
