Early impressions start rolling out for Batman v. Superman

Sometimes I long for the days before the internet. It was a simpler time, before every possible discussion became a dissertation on how everyone else was wrong.

Fucking Christ, I'm getting old. I'm turning into my Dad, longing for days gone by.

I'll totally give Man of Steel some credit, it was a better DragonBall movie than DragonBall Evolution

No comicbook movie has topped this yet.

*Shrug* Opinions and all but I liked Winter Soldier's fight scenes more.
The Batman combat segment in the BvS trailer was better too

Or this?

I loved the fights it was so damn itens.

As far as science fiction and alien invasions go...MoS is easily the best movie in that category. Like ever. You have to be crazy to deny it.

Infinitely better than garbage like Independence day or war of the worlds.

Also Zod is the best comic book villain to date. Yes even better than Joker because Joker wasn't really a villain in TDK but more of a neutral troll. Zod on the other hand was legit few seconds away from terraforming the earth.

Man of Steel was a solid 10 out of 10. I would even go as far as to say Interstellar is the only better all around Sci-Fi movie than it in the past 15 years.

Oh my god you're on the yayo

I loved Mad Max when I saw it early and loved it the next three times I saw it. You're not getting what I'm saying.

Forreal. That early screening was one of the best theater experiences of my life. Was feeling jaded about big studio action films for a while now and he dropped something that belonged alongside die hard, Matrix and t2.

Blessed.

Yes it is. Your opinion is wrong.

It had its issues and on most occasions it would be a disaster, but it worked.

He's not saying it didn't work. He's saying it shouldn't have considering the circumstances behind its completion. You're even acknowledging that to some degree in your response.

He is wrong in that it's the best action movie of the decade. It's the best of the last two decades.

Possibly three.

Ya baby.

EDIT: Hold the fuck up... are you saying that nothing in BvsS reaches the heights of this???

Should've clarified, to me the Smallville fight is up there among all comic film actions scenes. It's hard to top in my book. There's a scene that rivals it. Two, actually.

I'll add, I didn't care for the Zod fight in MoS. Most of BvS action tops that, easy.

I'm with Liquidsnake, Man of Steel is one of the better superhero movies.

I would rather marathon III IV and Superman Returns back to back than to have to suffer my way through another MOS viewing. Die hard Superman fan but Man of Steel was like having your fingernails on a chalkboard.

That shit hit me like a fucking mach truck. Not prepared for it at all. That's a once in a lifetime kind of thing.

You're acknowledging it to some degree in your response, even.

Which part made it great?

Was it the motivational poster dialogue, which felt more suited to a trailer rather than a 2 hour long movie?

Was it Cavill's lack of charisma?

Was it the excessive as fuck action sequences (yes, even for Superman)

Not to mention all the dumb/illogical shit that happens in this movie.

How man How??????????

Thats just one scene,

Has anything Marvel made you care as much as this one scene? ( I like cinematic Marvel by the way, just not a lot of their stuff)

Probably every single Marvel movie, most of which I don't like particularly, because I felt nothing at that scene? That gif does Cavill no favors either.

Okay, that relives me a bit. Zod fight scene is my favorite. I'm not expecting much from the movie beyond the action, so here's hoping it delivers on that front.

This thread in the last 3 pages has become a fucking Phantom Zone of absurdity.

Thank you Liquidsnake for revealing the true Zod in all of us.

Edit: and as a result I cannot WAIT for 6pm EST to roll around and witness this all turn into our very own version of Metropolis destruction.

Objective is not a fiction. If it were, then any high school drop out could release a "Citizen's Kane." There are fundamental basics in screenwriting that are shat on in MoS, the use of plot devices for one.

Let me give you an example.

Clark finds work at a bar around the same time and in the same area where two soldiers are discussing a top secret anomaly that the military just discovered (coincidentally relating to his people). Cool, now we have a lazy way to get him to find said ship. He gets there and in next scene, somehow he has a job helping the US military. How the fuck? who knows. Did he even need the job? he's fucking superman. next scene: lois lane just chillin in snow storm and spots clark walking into cave.

These are examples of lazy expositions and devices use to get the plot prodding along. it's about as lazy and useless as someone asserting that the last roll of toilet paper was in that cave just so clark could go in search for it and stumble onto a hologram of his dad.

i haven't scratched the surface. So yeah, objectively bad writing.

I haven't seen the film, so have no stake in this; but remember, as Pixar say: Coincidences to get characters into trouble are good – coincidences to get characters out of trouble are bad

Im sorry if I derailed.

I get passionate.

I know dat feel, Liquid

Honestly MoS was mediocre at best. Had some great action scenes. But how does Lois Lane find him just like that. Felt like it could of been better if they toned the dark tone they were going for.

The only thing I want from BVS is that they learn to do what no comicbook movie has managed to do since Watchmen. And that is to know how to end a movie. Literally every single one of these things is impossible for me to watch a second time, all the way through.
Watchmen is the only one I can sit down and go through from beginning to end, because it has a third act that isn't a turd act.

Even Deadpool.
Go watch the movie again, and tell me with a straight face that you can sit through those last 30 minutes.

Love those gifs, fuck MoS was cool. Cant wait to watch it again before the movie Thursday. Not the best hero movie, but I still say its action hasn't been topped. I went in expecting total garbage but was pleasantly surprised and I even ended up going to see it again and buying some comics. Not a Superman movie... my ass lol

BvS impressions seem good, all the negatives so far seem like small things I probably won't care about. If its as good as MoS I'll be satisfied and so far everything looks even better.

it is 30 minutes longer lol

if you need nearly 3 hours to make your batman superman film work then, man, i just dont know.

I get it if you're lord of the rings and are trying to cram these dense books into a feature length timeframe but i've never wanted to sit through a 3 hour comic movie. The avengers films already feel too long, for example

Dammit, man. I agreed with your reviews and now you're pulling this? Must be how Rocky felt when my dogs are hungry turned on him.

If the half-hour adds breathing room, fixes the pacing, it can help tremendously.

I just hit you in the back with a steel folding chair, NEVER TRUST A SNAKE

They put two movies' worth of content into one. Adding 30 mins won't fix it, making two movies would. It's too dense.

I would rather marathon III IV and Superman Returns back to back than to have to suffer my way through another MOS viewing. Die hard Superman fan but Man of Steel was like having your fingernails on a chalkboard.

That's probably why lol. I have no investment at all in Superman. When people made such a big deal about him snappin' Zod I didn't give a shit and it made sense to me. I thought it was well done overall.

Don't be sorry. This thread is our Zach Snyder. Moments of visual spectacle with blurred, inarticulate discussion about something most of us can't fully understand yet.

liquid, do you understand what 'charisma' means? Someone said charisma and you just showed him a picture of a dude screaming.

Superman is not supposed to have charisma like Frank Sinatra, hes had a very hard and confusing upbringing. He is still trying to figure this all out in MOS.

Im sorry he has a soul, and feelings, and doesn't think he has to light up every room he walks into. There is real pain in his eyes, in his past, He has lost more than you and I can possibly know.
