Monster Hunter 3 Tri Official Site Updated

2) If you've played Phantasy Star Online or Phantasy Star Universe then expect something along those lines in terms of gameplay.

Lol what? No. God no.

Trying to get more friends into this by virtue of telling them it's an actual in-depth, challenging game. Having word going around that it's like that mess of triple tapping marshmellow peeps with no itemization or decent combat mechanics or difficulty wouldn't get me very far.

Adverts seem to be reaaaaally budget level viral stuff. Especially the crabs one. Would a better ad not have consisted of showing the small crab fishing and then mr "lol scottish warrior" doing the segway into fighting one of Monster Hunters many GIANT CRAB enemies?

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.
Updated site is pretty cool..you can sign up for your hunters license!

That's what makes it so awesome.

So out of the 3 methods:

- Nunchuck + Wiimote

- CC1

- CC2

which is your favorite and why?
EDIT: CC2 all the way. There's no reason to ever use CC1 again after you've tried CC2. Nevermind -- misread the question! Edited so as not to confuse anyone. :)

Some MH nerds (like sprks) will insist you use the Nunchuk + Wiimote, but do not be deceived -- CC is the way to go. I tried playing a few times with N+W and it's just a pain in the ass.

Just going by the weapons in the Japanese demo, CC2 for Great Swords, CC1 for the rest. I enjoy the extra camera control CC1 provides but with Great Swords tapping a+x simultaneously is too finicky for such an important move.

My favourite is definitely CC2. Reason being, I am too used to it. Nunchuk + wiiremote is a close 2nd. I switch between the 2 once in a while to have a different experience.

All my friends agreed that Nunchuk + wiiremote method is great and feel fresh. One of my friend even gave up his classic controller pro for that scheme:lol It will be pretty complicated at first, but after a while you will get the hang of it. No harm giving it a try, it's really awesome.

I think you got it backwards, CC1 is PSP style.

Haha john tv's post confused me:lol
Wait, I think I confused me too -- I thought he was talking about Classic Controller Pro vs. the Classic Controller. :lol

Yeah, I definitely prefer CC1. CC2 is the one where the right stick attacks, right? After playing the PSP game, I don't think I could ever go back to that.

I've never been a fan of playing anything with the Wiimote (even Zelda) -- it just seems like too much to think about. I'd rather forget about the controls and get absorbed in the game, and with Tri, it was easier for me to do that with the Classic Controller.

hmmmm I might reconsider pre-ordering the bundle then(I have CC1). I' am accustomed to the PSP controls too. The demo may sway me in ethier direction.

This game looks very interesting. Taking down big-ass monsters is something I'd enjoy.

This isn't like any MMO where you need to grind for xp, right? Is the combat mechanic more engaging, than say, just mash this button until X enemy dies? Do you lose stuff when you die? I hate that.

by CC1 I think they mean the first default set of controls for the classic controller pro, not Classic controller 1. I think they all agree that the Pro is better than the classic controller.

No exp, you just gain materials from carving the monsters you kill which lets you make better gear/weapons/items. The combat is very engaging and far more challenging than you'd probably expect. It is all about learning the specific monsters behaviors and attacks (This is Capcom,) so that you know when to attack. You get 3 K.O's per quest, meaning if you "die" 3 times in a quest you fail the mission. Each K.O reduces your money reward, but if you get any items during that quest, they are not taken away.

I'm considering this game. I haven't bought a Wii game in such a long ass time I forgot I even had the system! Though I'd hate to enable my wireless just for my wii but eh no big deal I guess.

Since I'm cheap and want to save money for some other games I'm getting the standalone MH3 and not the CC Pro bundle. Can someone tell me how well the regular classic controller controls? If it controls badly I'll just stick with the Wii remote + nunchuk. I don't mind a little getting used to.

Thanks for the comments guys

I look foward to trying out the N+wiimote combo too. At least I have CC1 to fall back on though (PSP controls). As a GS user, I never have a problem nailing Triangle/Circle at the same time.

Its great. However, without getting the CC Pro, you might just master playing MH3 with the wiiremote + Nunchuk.

Isn't Nintendo doing this because they are the Publisher for the game?

Only in Europe and Australia. Nintendo of America seems to be getting involved in North American promotion to some extent (like in the media summit and press interviews) but Capcom is still the publisher and I'm assuming they're still handling marketing.

I'd be surprised to see ads like that coming out of Nintendo's marketing department anyway. They fit in with Capcom's marketing much better.

So what about this region-locked servers? It's really confirmed by Capcom?

Oh, and I really hope you guys are getting this game day one, maybe even before! :lol

It was a looong time since I felt this way for a game, can't freak wait!!1
