I really want to get this game. The only problem is I don't have any friends who want to play this as well, and if I play it I want to be part of a team. Are there going to be gaf teams I might be able to join?

Why wouldn't they?
Nintendo has always said that if publishers are willing to use their own servers, they can do whatever they want with the online.

Capcom can do whatever they want online as long as they use their own servers. Anyone using Nintendo's has to abide by their rules and use friend codes.

I always thought it was a sort of trade off. One for the other. I wonder why TatsuCap didn't have online chat (probably a bit unnecessary).

What other games have their own server? MOHH2 (it gets away with it since Wii Speak didn't exist yet)?

Alright, so I'm a bit new-ish to MH...

What's the scoop on the depth of this game? How many types of characters can you choose from in here? Are battles strategic once you get in the meat of the adventure? Is there any sort of "economy" in play? Ill be buying it either way, but Im curious.

I'm super, super psyched about this game, and I've never even played Monster Hunter before.

I'm still curious about whether or not the Wii Speak + CC2 bundle is coming to North America. A definite bummer, if not.

I signed up to get the demo mailed to me, but the Capcom-Unity site was a bit glitchy, so I'm not totally sure if it worked. If it doesn't come, I'll just pick it up at Gamespot.

You create a character rather than choose one. Game is very deep and there are all types of battle strategies that you can execute if you can think of. What's more the battle strategies for teamplay is completely different downright to the number of players in your team.

Eg. You can have a hunter with healing skills to act as a medic, 2 hunters for main attacking force, one gunner for trapping/status attack etc

Armors skills combination played a very important part. Usually a good hunter will have different sets of armor combination to suit the different monsters/weapons/team play.

What do you meant by 'ecnomy' in play?

It's awesome to see so many people who have never touched MH before get so hyped for this game. I/everyone knew it was going to happen with Tri but it's great to see it really happen. :lol I've been so pumped for this since it was first announced but to see everyone who haven't played MH at all get pumped is just making me even more hyped. :D

edit: Ten, I hope you're going to coordinate a gaf server when it launches. I'd love to get a chance to play with you and some other gaffers.

If I'd Have to guess, I think he means Online Economy, like in an MMO. The answer to that being a very definite no. Only very cheap/common items can be traded. Things like armour, weapons and most of the loot can not be traded. As such there is no economy.

Sounds good. I've only played it a bit briefly in the past, but thought it seemed to have a really great foundation. I wasn't sure how character development was handled, so I appreciate the info. Cant wait to jump into this.

Ah, that's cool. Puts more incentive to actually go and get what you need instead of having people give you a bunch of stuff to start out with.

No EA game uses friend codes as far as I'm aware, I think they use a common EA tag. The lack of Wii Speak in those games is just an omission made by the developer.

I am not sure if I will be getting the NA version due to commitment reason. I have finished the game already but all these hype is building up in me, dam...

For me it was about 700hrs for online, offline, online event quests and colosseum mode. But recently they introduce those giant sized monsters event quest, sigh, makes me wanna get back to the game again -_-"

EBGames/GameStop's Canadian sites list the CCPro bundle, but not the Wii Speak one.

Haven't heard a 100% confirmation about the demo for Canada either. :(

I'll give EB a shout and see if they know about it.
W-what? $69.99 for a Wii game? Bundle or not, I thought New Super Mario Bros. Wii was the only one. Is it okay to stick with the regular Classic Controller?

I'm completely new to the MH series but I'm really looking forward to the game! And with having read the past 4 or so pages, I can see that I'm in for a long game.

Question: When you're in offline mode questing, do you get three AI buddies to round out your team or is it simply you vs. the monsters? If you get three AI buddies, do you have to worry about equipment/load outs/skillsets/roles/etc., etc., etc.? I hope not, cuz that always kills my momentum/interest in Dragon Age and the like...

You get 1 AI buddy, and he's pretty simple to manage.

It's CDN $ 49.99. It's no surprise that the MH Tri bundle costs more than the game-only version, therefore I don't understand what Roland's problem is. He can always buy MH Tri without the CC Pro.

Ah ok, that clears it I guess.

I'll play with you! never fear (^_^)

I'll be at EB on the 8th, getting the demo, pre-ordering the Pro bundle, and pre-ordering Fragile so I can get that soundtrack! :D

Of course I haven't gotten off of my lazy ass to call the damn store yet to confirm if they're even getting the demo. :p

You're getting the game but not getting Wii Speak and then decide to use TS or Vent? You guys are weird. I will definitely avoid people who do this as it makes no sense whatsoever. I'll be getting Wii Speak the same day I get the game.

GAF should start a Monster Hunter weekly night when this comes out. I was disappointed that I wasn't able to connect when I imported it last year.

Since a lot of us wont have Wii Speak, us Gaffers should try to get a vent channel going when this comes out or something.
Dude, just go out and buy endless ocean. It comes with a Wii speak peripheral for $30. I just bought a copy for a family I'm staying over spring break with yesterday.

Well, its like this.

1. TeamSpeak or Vent would be easier to use.
2. Only one person has to get the vent server, then everyone can use it.

Instead of everyone having to go out and buy Wii Speaks. :D

Ooo, I didn't know about this. Is this an American deal?
