Daredevil actor Charlie Cox announces filming date for Netflix superhero series The Defenders

British actor Charlie Cox took to the stage on Monday morning (11 April) to discuss Marvel television series Daredevil, the first of four standalone superheroes to be getting their own Netflix Original Series.

With season two having launched via the streaming service last month, the question on everybody’s lips was on a potential third outing for the superhero.

“We don’t know if there’s going to be a season three,” he revealed to a crowded room of journalists. “I certainly don’t know.”

Cox did go on, however, to announce that the planned Avengers-style series which will star all four of these characters - including Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage - is to start filming later this year.

"What we do know is at the end of this year we’re going to be making The Defenders and, of course, Daredevil is very much a part of that foursome.

“I have no idea what the storyline is going to be for that show. I’m very excited to see how those world’s combine… and interested to see tonally how those shows become one.”

In terms of his Daredevil storylines being addressed in The Defenders, Cox remains uncertain: “In terms of wrapping up any storylines, maybe they’ll do some of that in The Defenders. Or maybe they won’t.”

I seriously have to give it to the higher ups overseeing Marvel's TV/movies. Marvel has been handling their properties, including cross overs, etc excellently. The only issue I have really is the separation between TV and movies, but still I'm not sure DC can even "catch up" at this point. They're like half a decade behind at a minimum at anything remotely similar

edit: My bad, not Kevin Feige

good, then i'm predicting that defenders will be 1 year after luke cage (sept 2017), and if there is a daredevil season 3, that'll be spring 2017, along with jessica jones season 2 - which should also come after defenders

Yea the Movie/ TV operation is a bit annoying especially when Stark tower should be in some views of New York (or at least I assume it would be).

Can see The Defenders taking Daredevil's place next year (allow Luke Cage and Iron Fist to have their 1st series).

So let's see, each show on-going storylines that hasn't been wrapped so far;

Daredevil:
The Hand, Fisk turning into Kingpin and seems to discover DD identity.
Jessica Jones:
Super soldier pill(?), the boyfriend mysterious past, JJ mysterious past.

Kevin Feige? Kevin Feige doesn't have anything to do with Marvel TV. He was an executive producer for Agent Carter for S1. That's the extent of his involvement. Otherwise, both the ABC and Netflix stuff are run by Jeph Loeb.

So, this probably won't be out until Fall 2017 or so. Not bad. Depending on when Iron Fist starts shooting, I can imagine it'll probably land Spring 2017. Really hoping they go back and do a third season of Daredevil, unless Defenders will address the dangling plot threads of season two.

I'm pretty much down for whatever Marvel's Netflix division has to throw at me. It's all been pretty unilaterally excellent (for the most part). The idea of gritty TV Avengers has me gasping.

This isn't going to be a 13 episode thing right? Would be great if it was 6 episodes.

Thought I read somewhere that it will be shorter than DD season but I may be wrong.

It's the fight scenes that stink.

The fight scenes are fine. Jessica and Luke are super strong and just have to punch stuff. They aren't trained ninjas like Elektra and Matt.

Yeah it's only like 6 episodes if I remember correctly-it's labeled as a "mini-series"

You guys are right they need Jessica's insufferable ass around so that her stupidity can help pad the season out by 3-4 episodes.

Also please more poorly edited action scenes where she laughably throws people across the room and runs like Steven Segal.

Man, I wish they could condense these enough that we could get annual installments of each series. Doesn't sound like DD S3 is going to happen anytime soon with the schedule they have going, and that's what I want most of all. I want Bullseye.

Maybe Luke Cage and Iron Fist will become one show in their second season, and hopefully Defenders is an every 2-3 years thing.

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for this, but not excited that there probably won't be any new Daredevil next spring.

JJ is a just a brawler. She's not Matt. She doesn't know how to fight. She's just strong. someone that knows what they're doing could probably get the jump on her.
It's her inconsistent and ill defined powers that sucks. She is strong enough to jump so high she appears to fly, but only does it once. She has to have some extra resilience to be able to survive a drop like that, or tear apart padlocks and chains, but getting hit by a van completely wipes her out. Honestly the entire series could have taken place with her being normal for all the impact her super powers had.

That's the original lineup, sure, but this is like saying the Avengers are Giant Man, Hulk, Iron Man, Thor and Wasp. There have been tons of different lineups for both teams.

The old one stuck with me because they are clearly the most powerful among their peer groups.

I really appreciate how slow marvel is willing to work to get all the chess pieces prepared for a crossover. Still unsure about defenders though, the too many cooks issue could arise.

and the story

and the characters

and the runtime

really the only part that doesn't shit the bed is david tennant's performance

Havent finished Season 2 of DD, but JJ is a considerably better show. Honestly the characters in JJ are far, far better than DD's characters with the exception of Punisher. DD is full of comic book cheese and acting ranging from hammy to bad.
