Max yeah I mean third pillar conceptually even if the other two are crumbling. Wii U is clearly being shuffled away early, but that might not have always been the plan.
Pitching it as a smart device accessory is about as out of the box as I can think.

I believe the part of the NX NDA being lifted next week allows devs to say they are working on NX titles. The floodgates open April 27th

It's already Monday morning in Japan. I don't think they'd want it later than Wednesday, so it would have to be announced within a few hours.

And they can still announce a Wednesday Direct on Monday or Tuesday.

Also, what's wrong with having it on Thursday? Investor briefings aren't exactly the kind of event that one would typically worry about conflicting with something like a Direct. They're targeted at very different audiences.

But like I said, it's already Monday there and I'd imagine that they'd want more than a day to build hype for a direct.

I still wish that Emily had clarified whether she was debunking everything he said about power or just the Polaris and close to NEO stuff. It would kinda suck if she was debunking it being more powerful than PS4 as well.

I have no clue. Nintendo has never ever done two different types of events in one week. There's only going to be the investors meeting this week.

Next week is May. You can expect a Nintendo Direct starting next week, if they have one.

It's Monday, yeah, but it's only 6:49 AM there. They wouldn't have announced anything yet, even if they did plan to say something on Monday.

And while you may assume that Nintendo might want to announce it earlier than usual, that is still just speculation on your part. It is definitely still possible that a direct happens this week. I wouldn't go as far as saying that it's likely, but it is definitely possible.

The investor's meeting is not a PR event. If they want to communicate with their consumers this week, the investor's meeting is not the way to do so.

Yeah. How often do they reveal something in an investor's meeting? The last thing I can remember was the NX name, and I wouldn't consider that a reveal.

Next week is Golden Week in Japan, so there definitely won't be anything then. The earliest to realistically expect something just happens to be May 9th.

Info is info and Nintendo has never done it. I would never expect a Direct this week when info is already coming from an Investors Meeting. He can easily say at the meeting "ok guys we'll talk about NX on May 12".

I would love to be wrong of course, but I have 0 expectations of there being one this week.

It happens, but it usually has to do more with services. It would not be the right venue to properly unveil a console.

They didn't reveal the NX codename in an investor's meeting, that was a press conference for their mobile ventures.

In recent investor's meetings they've revealed Miitomo, My Nintendo, Nintendo Account and amiibo (well, not the name, but that they were going to make toys-to-life products).

The very first Nintendo Direct was actually the same week as an investor briefing.
 
I could see some developers being allowed to announce NX versions of their games once the console is revealed and not to wait until E3. But that's the point:

Once the console is revealed, and that's not something I expect to happen next week.
 
I think it serves Nintendo well to allow third parties to announce NX versions of their big Q3/4 multiplatform games, so I buy that we'll get a name reveal and embargo lift.

I don't think we're actually going to see anything until E3, though.

I don't think that anyone is falling for it as much as just being curious about what it'll all lead to. Or maybe that's just me. I just can't figure out why he still believes these random people so much and I want to know how much it'll take for him to realize that these are just the new Reddit leaks.

... and part of me wants something he says to be true just for the sake of comedy.

I'm not sure he actually believes them. I am sure that he likes the attention.
 
I don't know why anyone is surprised 10k somehow managed to seep back into these threads.

What 10k did was shitty and if he had presented himself as a rumor aggregate then maybe people wouldn't have gotten emotionally invested in the rumors. I actually like the idea of a rumor aggregate using the tiered system, maybe we should make one once 10k's ashes have been completely vacuumed up.

What I will say though is you guys really only have yourselves to blame. 10k emerged in the reddit rumor thread where everyone was racing to post every shitty reddit rumor from every unverified source and tried to legitimize them, no matter how ridiculous, based on their own biases. It still kind of amazes me that rando Sonic comic artist on twitter said a non-thing about the NX based on a friend of a friend of a friend and people were actually pushing that as confirmation that "the NX is trash." When you've got people stanning for a "rumor" that weak, how can anyone be surprised that someone managed to dominate the attention of your gullible asses (AGAIN)? That one thread created an environment that 10k could thrive in.

Yeah, he would have stopped by now if he didn't want the attention. I wonder if it was all worth it though.

He's very likely to be right about us getting a name and announcement date, though. The only reason I'd think that they'd hide the name at this stage is if it reveals too much about the platform. If it doesn't they have more to gain from revealing the name now due to multiplat announcements and perhaps even allowing devs to give opinions on the thing to press.

Heh. I'll just say that I have an ulterior motive here and leave it at that. What he's saying is stuff that we can all guess anyway. The bigger topic is, of course, what to expect at this meeting. For example, if we don't get a forecast or a timeframe for when a forecast will be given, it'll be safe to say that it's not launching this year. A lot of people are still certain that it's a Holiday 2017 product because the idea of Nintendo doing something different seems impossible to them.

Also, if they give a forecast, how high that forecast is might be a bit telling of their plans. If it's too telling, they might do a short Direct reveal.
 
10k is a good kid, he made the waiting less insipid and embarrassing. injected some good energy into the community after all the goomy NX discussion.
 
Unfortunate to hear then.

I doubt Nintendo will want to run the risk of waiting right until e3 to announce anything unless they want to go head to head with ps4k and possible xb1.5 reveals.
