Going with a 95. I would've said 93 before, but I kinda think this will be the highest rated triple A game this generation.

GTA6, TLOU2, Cyberpunk?

I think they have a bigger chance to score 95+, though I agree that U4 seems to have the biggest chance up until now.

Ha, I forgot about review madness for games like this. I was more so on websites like N4G back in the UC2/UC3 days. Rabid denials of reviews less than 9 were unreal.

If you reviewed less than a 9, your site was trash, the reviewer was biased, or looking for attention. This is despite the fact that the community on N4G went WILD when UC3 got a 21/20. Somehow, breaking the review maximum is totally okay, but scoring an 8/10 is implausible.

As for OT titles:

Uncharted 4 | OT | Swinging for the Fences
Uncharted 4 | OT | The End of the Rope

Damn, the ass one is pretty good, especially because we're talking about Nate lol

I mean that very first quote of yours was in my opinion worthy of a ban, not sure about the others. Well, as they say... you did "the crime", you did the time and hopefully you've learned the lesson (which given your previous post I think you did).
People shouldn't still hang it over your head.. that's silly.

How the hell was it even remotely ban-worthy?

Are we talking about the "That fat fuck isn't reviewing it thankfully."? I mean it feels pretty ban-worthy to me, but I'm not a moderator so I don't know the exact criteria. It is a terrible and very low post though..

The personal insult of adding his weight to the comment is probably the issue.

Because otherwise, Jim was a bit of a shit a few years back. He's even acknowledged that himself. He's grown a lot.

Ah damn it, I thought they meant this post for some reason

Nvm in that case, the fat fuck comment was definitely not cool.

I think Meta will most likely hing around 90-93. The main basis why:

There are too many reviewers with differing opinions on what constitutes a good game this generation. The major games that have focused on a cinematic story telling experience- the Order: 1886, Ryse: Son of Rome, and Quantum Break all fared poorly. I hope Uncharted breaks the trend.

I'm not going into Uncharted expecting the best gameplay or AI.

Naughty Dog games are never the best in their respective genres. Let's face it Uncharted 4 is never going to top the cover mechanics of Gears of War. The traversal and platforming aspect is never going to top Prince Of Persia. The puzzles are never going to top Zelda. The wide linear concept is never going to top Grand Theft Auto. The branching storyline with choices is never going to top Mass Effect.Naughty Dog games are going to be the Jack of All Trades. Naughty Dog takes things from much better games and throws it into the mix. I am fine with that.

However, Naughty Dog is the best at telling a story and pacing. Telling a story in videogame form is hard. These guys are so ahead of anyone else at the point.

The reason that The ORder, Ryse, and Quantum did poorly was because the stories were so boring. I wanted to skip them. I never want to skip any cutscenes in Naughty Dog game. In fact, I find myself playing through the game just to watch the story. I feel with the power of the Playstation 4, the cutscenes and story are going to be better than the Last Of Us. Right now the Last Of Us Remaster is still my favorite game on PS4. I think this will top that not because it's a gameplay masterpiece, but because the story and pacing are better than anything else out there.

I switched to an alt account to ditch my embarrassing tag so I could be an embarrassing Naughty Dog fanboy in peace. Ask me anything!

UC4 beta showed that it is the best playing tps mechanically along with MGSV.

Gears 1-3,UC1,2.3, MP3 etc... are not even close.

I have not played QB.

What did you think of the gameplay in TLOU?
It has some of the best TPS mechanics of any game to me.

You have said this in like 3 different threads now and while it was true of the past games, impressions for the new one indicate that they have made huge improvements.

Also the beta played like a dream

I completely disagree. Uncharted 2 multiplayer was the best TPS multiplayer I ever played, and it's not exactly brimming with narrative flair. The minute-to-minute gameplay in Naughty Dog games has always been fun to me. And from a gameplay perspective, TLOU is a fantastic blend of action, stealth, and survival-horror.

I don't think you would consider GTA wide linear... Maybe once a mission starts, but it's definitely a true open world game. Also, Uncharted 4 is one of the best controlling TPS I've ever played (beta) and ND games have consistently had the best animations I've ever seen in a third person shooter. Gears of War is strictly a cover shooter. Uncharted 4 is as well, but has so much other contextual stuff going on with it's melee and combat that that it's just a much more dynamic and diverse game in terms of combat flow. We'll see if Gears 4 shakes things up to become more dynamic than a covering shooting, bullet spraying with no recoil, type of TPS.

In a different GAF thread I predicted 86 but now I am thinking it will end up being 93. Next week cannot get here soon enough.

big words saying it's better than gears but now you're speaking my language. I found UC1-3 to be the textbook definition of overrated but I'm on the UC4 boat because TLOU impressed me that much. And I'm not talking about story either, I really liked how the encounters played out (on hard/no xray) and it had great AI especially in one particular fight. Stuff like psychic enemies who always know where you are is such a dated concept and I'm hoping UC4 takes cues from TLOU in the right ways.

No, but a thing to consider is the amount of critics that are counted nowadays when you look at a game like Ocarina with it's 22 critics. Today's games have way more reviewers with recent games like Ratchet and Clank with its 82 counted critics and Dark Souls 3 with 62. I think that while it may be harder for modern games to score higher (if you're looking at just averages), the high scorers sort of have even more credibility in a way. Something to consider!!

I just can't see UC4 doing anything more than 92, I fully expect it to be between 87-92. Anything more is just wishful thinking in my opinion.

Which makes it all the more impressive than Super Mario Galaxy out reviewed Ocarina of Time (according to Game Rankings).

Incredible game and easily the best of last generation for me.

Disagree completely. the game mechanics from UC4 are imo the best TPS I've ever played and imo before the beta it would've been:

1:MGSV
2.Max Payne 3
3.Gears of War 3
4.Uncharted 2

After UC4 beta, UC4 is right up there with MGSV in terms of responsiveness and good feeling. It feels GREAT shooting.

Climbing felt amazing, moving around was a joy. I'm not sure if your opinion is based off of hands on gameplay or just conjecture but either way, it's a WRONG opinion lol.

Exactly. Was just about to write the same. So in a way the true king of Metacritic is GTAIV with a 98 score and 86 reviews. Which is funny because most people thought the game was a huge disappointment. But yeah let's continue to care deeply about scores.
