In spirit of people trying to sell their asses for an early copy in the other thread.

I suggest this for the OT lol

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End|OT| A Rear's End.

I generally don't care about MC scores, but if a higher score can result in a bigger UC4 MP player pool, then why not? ;)

I personally expect 90-95 (min-max).

89 Metacritic is the sweet spot to cause the biggest Gaf meltdown ever seen.
Nah, even if it happened (I doubt it given early feedback), I do not think we'd have the same kind of hyperbole reaction.
We are in a gen where Killzone 4 got 73, LBP3 got 79, Infamous 2nd son 80, Halo 5 got 84, Quantum Break 77.
Most people know that scoring got a bit more "realistic/ tough" this gen (if there is such a thing), although we'll probably have a few choice reactions to the unavoidable lower outliers I feel.

I do hope this game reviews well.

Saying that, I wouldn't be surprised if some dying media sites give this game a low score for traffic.

If it's like the other Uncharted games, I don't really see why I care about this review. Though an impending GAF meltdown might be comical. :D

It's so bizarre to me that people "love watching meltdowns on GAF" and post all these weird popcorn eating GIFS and a bunch of other shit.

Either reaction doesn't do anything for me, not nearly enough to look forward to reading it. It's a sort of elitist douchebaggery that somehow gets a free pass here and I really don't get it.

"Ohh LULZ look at this! Random person is upset with review score! LOLOLOLOLOLOLZ! MADE MY DAY!!"

To be fair, a lot of those comments aren't even bad and shouldn't even be quoted. Also, a lot of them are sarcasm (lots of posts on that wall of shame are from POP GAF posters).

The Uncharted 4 review thread won't be as bad. We're all way too self aware now because of the Uncharted 3 thread.

Yeah, since I appear on that wall of shame more times than anybody else and I'm at the top to boot, I might as well address this (wouldn't be the first time). First of all, for a list centered around people losing their minds over an 8 out of 10 score, I did explicitly state that I took no umbrage with Eurogamer's review in that thread, but of course that part of the post was conveniently edited out and focused on me expressing my joy at a game I was incredibly excited about at the time receiving top marks across the board by a well known publication. Okay? Sorry if it's considered poor form to do so, but that strikes me as being fairly normal behaviour for a game you're hyped about.

Secondly, there's the "we'll just hastily sweep that under the carpet" post. Well that was a joke, and was said in response to a moderator who wrote something along the lines of "Great scores all round." I think it was quite clear it was a joke, but I guess the list needed some padding out.

Lastly, the Jim Sterling post. Fair enough, that was rude and tactless, and it's not something I'm proud of. But two things:

1. That had nothing to do with Eurogamer's Uncharted review.
2. Jim Sterling circa 2011 was not exactly the most respectable video games journalist. A cursory glance at his tweets from around that period reveal that he called people far worse things than what I directed at him, and that was just his Twitter account. The guy was an online shock jockey back then. I'm not saying that makes my post justifiable, but yeah, he wasn't exactly a wallflower of purity and innocence.

So that's my particular case. I screwed up with the one personal insult, but that's about all you can criticise me for, and there's nothing I wrote even approaching a "meltdown." I agree with Tricky that there are other posts on that list that read like they're not being 100% serious, but I guess that's the price you pay for not taking things quite as earnestly as other people who were getting themselves all in a lather, on both sides. I also agree with the overarching sentiment that people expressing disdain toward a critic for not writing a positive enough review is very silly indeed. But I wasn't one of them.

Anyway, it's a list that has become ammunition for fanboy wars now it seems. The last person who tried to call me out on my participation in that thread was a major Nintendo 'enthusiast' who now appears to be permanently banned. Well done him.

Thanks for this post.

The selective quoting of posts and the ignoring of the obvious sarcasm in some of the posts is just ridiculous. I stand by what I said about that wall of shame.

*Searches and finds the so-called Uncharted 3 Wall of Shame*
*Reads first quote*

Just out of curiosity.. were you banned for that?

With the reviews hitting 5 days before launch I assume most reviews will be generally positive and very praiseworthy.

I've written pretty much that exact same post before on this site. Years ago.

I did receive a two month ban, yes. It was my very first one! The reason given was something like "Misbehaving in the Uncharted review thread," rather than just posting a link to a single post. So that does kind of suggest to me that the mods glossed over the list, saw my name three times and decided to drop the banhammer as a result.

My first ban was also from a review thread. It gets the best of us.

Going with a 95. I would've said 93 before, but I kinda think this will be the highest rated triple A game this generation.

GTA V and The Last of Us: Remastered are still the two highest rated games of this gen.

It's about time a new game comes along and shows us why we actually bought a new generation of consoles.

Yeah, I mean... Who doesn't chuckle at other people's overreactions at least every now and then? Saying you enjoy reading them is hardly edgy.

I'm sure it must be frustrating for people like Acquiescence above, though, getting misrepresented by idiots like that, but I try not to use these 'meltdowns' as personal attacks. I don't judge the people on the quote wall for their reactions, it's just passionate people being passionate about something.

Nobody is hurt by these reactions, and nobody is hurt by me finding them funny cause I'm not a cunt about it.

I think it was a few days after the Uncharted 3 review thread started dying off when Evilore then made a thread about something like "Do Reviews Really Matter?" He referenced the Uncharted 3 review thread and I was one of the first to reply with something like "Do we really need this pointless thread?"

I got a massive 3 month ban for that from Evilore. The mods must have been really cranky at that time. I was lucky it wasn't permanent. o_O

Don't really care if there are few stand out reviewers who rate the game lower than average. I mean w/e, I don't care. I just want to play the damn game that should have been released in April, lol.

I want the same reviewer who reivewed TLoU from Polygon to review UC4, just out of curiosit because it's interesting what he's going to say about this considering that you're going to have multiple AI partners.

Honestly, as long as we don't get someone saying "You know whats the problem with Uncharted 4: A Thieve's End? Its that its almost too good...", I really think there is no review score that would make me bat an eyelash heheheh

I mean that very first quote of yours was in my opinion worthy of a ban, not sure about the others. Well, as they say... you did "the crime", you did the time and hopefully you've learned the lesson (which given your previous post I think you did).
People shouldn't still hang it over your head.. that's silly.
