Disagree completely. the game mechanics from UC4 are imo the best TPS I've ever played and imo before the beta it would've been:

1:MGSV
2.Max Payne 3
3.Gears of War 3
4.Uncharted 2

After UC4 beta, UC4 is right up there with MGSV in terms of responsiveness and good feeling. It feels GREAT shooting.

Climbing felt amazing, moving around was a joy. I'm not sure if your opinion is based off of hands on gameplay or just conjecture but either way, it's a WRONG opinion lol.

Is it fair to compare a multiplayer beta to fully finished singleplayer games? If we're judging by pure 'game feel' and character handling, that's obviously not going to change (aside from frame rate). But TPSes are judged by other aspects like level design & AI - which in my personal opinion, UC has always trailed in.

MGS V is a high bar, but I do think UC4 could top it. Entirely depends on how much combat encounters have improved from 3.

I'm judging solely by feel and mechanics. Level design and AI I don't know yet but from reading impressions they've seemed to nail that also. Levels don't have a golden path anymore. You have several ways to go about it. It's like they put you in a sandbox, give you some tools and let you do what you want. The madagascar gameplay previews had so much variation and I saw so many things I wanted to do thanks to the much larger and dynamic gameplay systems.

I'm not really sure why Gears of War gets brought up. It's approach to the TPS shooter genre is totally different to Uncharted. One is a shooter, the other one is an action game with shooting.

Metal Gear Solid would be more of an apt comparison. Again, an action game with shooting.

And why do you think that?

The Uncharted formula worked in 2 because it was fresh and new and unexpected, I just can't see UC4 doing the same numbers when it looks a little samey in my opinion (which I don't mind at all)

24h to go!

Just saw a review on YouTube, 29m long, he liked it and gave a 9/10.

Watched it too but God damn the editing gave me a headache. And the footage wasn't exactly flattering.

I have a feeling it'll get 94 on MC, though I also thought Quantum Break would get at least mid 80s and R&C would get okay reviews, so it probably won't be a 94 on MC.

I'm think it will get somewhere in the low 90's with a small chance of a score in the high 80's on MC because I know some reviewers will just give the game a score below a 9 and maybe as low as a 7.

I definitely think scores will reflect a bit of franchise fatigue considering mechanically the game is still pretty similar to the older ones.

Having said that it will probably score between 85-90 imo. Thats what I expect at least. I cant wait for the game anyway.

There will be no fatigue. The last game came out in November. I don't see also how being similar to the older ones is a bad thing either, they take the formula and make it even better.

He begins...

Right now, approved press are all ringing each other up talking about what line they are taking with the game because none of them wants to be seen to say the wrong thing that will earn them the upturned noses of their peers or lose them fanboy visitors.
That's exactly where I stopped watching.

Heh. Not that it's a bad score or anything but hard to take him seriously in any way.

I know we are all desperate for reviews (when was the last time a game got a pre-review thread?) but it's only 24 hrs now, we can wait.

I'm actually getting a little saddened knowing this will be the last Uncharted, at least from ND. End of an era. Just hope their next project is as awesome and interesting as their last few. I'll take Savage Starlight though!

The last new Uncharted game was released in November 2011. That is more than enough time between releases that franchise fatigue should not be an issue.

I guess with the reviews hitting tomorrow (a week before release) Naughty Dog must be pretty confident it will be great. It's actually refreshing to see a review hit early for a change, instead of the day before release.

ND always does it, and it always pays off for them, Remedy also did it with QB and it didn't pay off...

TloU already proved they can easily 1UP Uncharted series.

ND has a flawless record. They have not made a bad game.

They're not worried. I'm not worried. My Playstation is not worried.

Whilst I love both, I think I still prefer Uncharted 2 to LoU overall. It might not be as competent in terms of gameplay systems, but I just find it a bit more fun and entertaining, and slightly better paced too.

Jak 3 was pretty average. Way too much driving around in deserts and sandstorms for my liking.

True though, they've never made a bad game. If you ignore their pre-Crash output.

Agreed, the settings and tone probably appeal to me more as well, although TLoUs is a great game.

I do think, though, that ND have shown they can turn out quality time and time again. I would love for them to tackle a sci fi action adventure, I think they could do incredible things.

Oh yeah, Jak 3...It is my least favourite ND game I reckon.

Jak 3 was a dookie, Jak 2 had many questionable missions and the open city seems quite bad in retrospect. Also Uncharted 1 hasn't aged very well. They are a top tier developer, but not without failings.

None of those were 'bad games' though.
