Uncharted 4 - A Thief's |Reviews Thread| Nateness Awaits

It feels like Sony is officially starting to get their exclusives in check. Uncharted 4, Bloodborne, Until Dawn - are three pretty big reasons to own a PS4. With this year and next year quickly coming in - if the new Bend game, Horizon, and the Last Guardian hopefully are all quality- they'll have a nice chest of AAA exclusives. I can't wait to play this game.

EDIT: AND RATCHET AND CLANK. O_O Sorry gents.

I think these games are so great because Sony allowed them to be delayed. It's not like they needed them immediately anyway. I hope no one shits on Yoshida if he lets Horizon be delayed.

I think on the whole, the IGN review is actually pretty good, but one part that sticks out to me is the comments about lack of imagination:

I obviously haven't played it, but from what I've seen in the gameplay and trailers so far, I gotta say I disagree -- a lack of imagination isn't certainly what I'd describe the E3 setpiece. Maybe the others aren't all that? IDK.

As for the 3rd act, I can't really say anything as I obviously haven't played that. The other criticisms seem fair for now. But that one just stood out to me, although I have heard some impressions on the other thread on people saying the setpieces are more grounded, so maybe she's right.

When I see lack of imagination or lack of innovation or no next gen gameplay - I know what I am thinking and put the reviewer on my ignore list, as the reviewer is usually up his own ass.

I used to have fun looking at that reviewers previous reviews of games with several generations of releases where the reviewer gives a pass......But I dont bother anymore.

People have been shitting on Yoshida since this gen started (probably since last gen, I don't know...I wasn't on GAF then) ~ doubt Horizon being on time would stop 'em.

The Witness, although not first party, is still console exclusive and sitting pretty at 87. Incredible game. Left me thinking about it long after I'd completed it.

So the real best Ps4 game is Uncharted 4, GTA V and TLOU are remasters.

What i can't understand is the 93 to MGS, Not because i disagree with it, but because reading on gaf it seems like a really bad game.

MGS V has a revolutionary gameplay engine and overall game design that'll probably never be replicated again due to its complexity and cost, not to mention the whole Konami Kojima situation. Its controversial narrative choices made a lot of MGS fans mad, with good reason, so this vocal criticism is what you're reading. It is nevertheless a great game, and many gamers and MGS fans don't feel the same way as those vocal critics. (Personally my biggest issue with V is that I want more of it... and probably will never get it.)

I don't consider GTA V PS4 a remaster but rather a version of the game for that platform.

My game of the year so far even above Dark Souls III (just slightly). I'm expecting U4 to take that spot though.

The aiming was a HUGE problem.

I just played through 3 after a few years, albeit remastered. The "gunplay" was nowhere close to "dire." In fact I found it quite a enjoyable set of weapons and combat mechanics and enemy behavior (on hard). What continues to be annoying are: wasted villains; wave-based encounter design in some areas; and FAR too little tactical action and too much walking/"chasing" until Drake finally gets into the real shit in the shipyard. However even those things are pretty good... just not great. Okay, fine, the villain situation really is dire.

Word.

Still a great game, and above Drake's Fortune on technicality alone, but it has some seriously major flaws. It felt like Hennig hitting her limit with the franchise/lore.

We're spoiled with DSIII and Uncharted 4 coming out within the space of a month. DSIII will take some beating for my GOTY but UC4 really looks special.

The graphics quote from this review...

"Uncharted 4 will be, by a long distance, the most beautiful video game you have ever played. From the vast wind-swept cliffs of a frozen Scottish coastline, to the bustling streets of a sweltering Madagascan town, Uncharted 4’s immense scale is outshone only by its unprecedented attention to detail. There aren’t enough hours in the day to admire some of Uncharted 4’s scenery - it's as though Naughty Dog was given access to the next generation of consoles years before everyone else. Visually, it puts every other blockbuster to shame"

Reminds me of what some of the early impressions said, like ND has access to a better hardware or something :)

Complete masterpiece. Deserves to be up there on GOAT lists, IMO.

It's in its own class/realm, so quite hard to compare to other games, though.

I hear Stephen's Sausage Roll is god-tier, too.

To top that off I think we'll be spoiled by No Man's Sky next month, too. If you read a few text previews for real details of how things can develop as it progresses, it sounds mind-blowing.

I just have to give credit to the Naughty Dog guys, if you are reading this. I know that you guys must be tired of long days and hard nights but we gamers really appreciate the passion that you put in every day. I still remember when i bought a PS3 just to play the first game almost 10 years ago, and now I am just a few days away from playing the ending of my favorite gaming series of all time. Never stop making games, we love you ND!

And you got No Man's Sky next month that Sony is publishing and treating like a first party exclusive. Think that game will surprise.
