Welp, I guess that with people waking up it was only a matter of time. We have our first thread pushing MS to invest in new studios, rapidly followed by theories of MS buying ND in the very same thread.

Congrats to Naughty Gods on another stellar production. Wish I didn't have to wait till mid June to play it :)

So you actually took a one-post joke and are STILL making a big deal of it?

LOL

So for someone who hasn't followed the series all that much.. is there a summary of 1-3 that I can read/watch somewhere so that I can dive in on this?

UC1: Nathan Drake and friend go off to find some hidden treasure. Its not what they thought it was! Things explode, jokes are made, puzzles are solved, gunfights are had, and Nate and Elena hook up at the end.

UC2: Nathan Drake and friend go off to find some hidden treasure. Its not what they thought it was! Things explode, jokes are made, puzzles are solved, gunfights are had, and Nate and Elena hook up at the end.

UC3: Nathan Drake and friend go off to find some hidden treasure. Its not what they thought it was! Things explode, jokes are made, puzzles are solved, gunfights are had, and Nate and Elena hook up at the end.

I remember that someone made a movielike video with the Uncharted series that last like 2 to 3hs each. It's very well done and I recommend it if you're not planning the games.

But maybe someone has a better idea.

Expected, as ND are good devs. Congrats to them! They work really hard to deliver a polished high quality game and often raise the bar in those regards. They must be really happy right now.

So is there any game that will come even close to this for GOTY this year?

For the media? No, cuz Mass Effect aint coming out this year and that was its biggest competitor.

For NeoGAF? No, cuz Mass Effect aint coming out this year and that was its biggest competitor.

Personally? That's a case by case basis

Obviously depends on the person. I can imagine Star Fox Zero and Dishonored 2 being up there for me personally, but we'll see.

Edit: I still don't believe Last Guardian is coming 2016 and nothing I've seen or played about FFXV has me looking forward to it.

Deus Ex and Overwatch will probably both be excellent but this seems to be (from impressions) the most obvious mainstream pick. Dark Souls will probably get some deserved recognition as well.

It felt better than every tps I have played with the exception of mgs5 which it is on power with. It is one of the best playing tps I have ever played

Goddamn.

Seems par for course with what the people in the early impressions thread are saying. Someone hold me. I don't think I can wait five more days.

LMAO

Great scores but I'm still not even the least bit hyped. I went ahead and preordered it so hopefully I'll love it like I loved their previous efforts.

They don't have to be the same to make a comparison. George Bush and Obama are different people from different political parties and different personalities and I can still compare the effect they had on me. It is completely normal to analyze two things and see what differences and similarities they have, and interpret which is better based off of that. It's called a "compare and contrast" essay and it's taught from elementary school where you could be asked to compare two children's books up to university writing where you could be asked to compare two philosophers or business plans. To put it simply, to draw a comparison between two things, they don't have to be the same, they can have differences, and it seems you never learned this.

Believe it or not, TLOU and U4 have obvious differences AND similarities in gameplay and tone that can be compared, and they're made by the same team and studio and have plenty of similarities to analyze. If you want to dismiss that just because YOU think it's unfair, then by all means, but that is ridiculous. You're drawing an arbitrary line on what you think can warrant a comparison to U4.

They don't have to be the same type of story for me to point out flaws in one or the other and say which one I liked better.

The gameplay is different but has similarities and I can point out flaws in one versus the other and say which one I enjoyed more.

I honestly don't mind if they get compared (not sure where you got that I thought it was unfair to compared them from), and I actually believe they could be, in the grand scheme of things... My argument was more about both games being quite different in actual gameplay, even though they may fall under the same genre.

Anyway, don't want to keep derailing.

Awesome scores, as expected. Not a huge fan of Uncharted series, so I won't be getting this at launch, but definitely later when it's cheaper.

...unfollow

That's a parody account, right?

I was avoiding spoilers like the plague then got that easter egg spoiled in a completely unrelated thread. It's not a big deal, just would have been a nice surprise.

I feel you. I mean, I hadn't clicked that spoiler - for all I knew it was big shit. Just wish the guy gave it an explanation "tag"

Utterly savage

Look at the years both of those games were released in. 2001 for ICO, a year with FFX, GT3, MGS2, GTA3, SH2 etc. And SotC was released the same year as RE4.

and TLG is the same year as UC4

this is going along with the pretense that TLG will A) actually be an excellent video game in the year 2016 after years of development hell and not some interesting game with half-baked mechanics well past its sell-by date and B) actually come out this year

Were there even such awards back in those days? There sure as hell weren't any goty editions as far as I can remember.

There were definitely GotY editions, going back to the Rainbow Six games from the late-'90s.

Awards though? Not so much. At least, they happened but were never touted as much.

Yes, well that's fine, but the person I originally quoted was upset that a reviewer had drawn any comparison to TLOU despite the fact they're different games, and I was pointing out that you can make the comparison despite differences, and was trying to highlight how unfair and arbitrarily established that poster's perspective was.

If it ain't broke.....

ROTTR is still considered to be an awesome game.

I'm more surprised by Jim's 85 review, the same as QB, seems weird to me.

Especially when the bug riddled, janky animation, performance dipping, bad dialogue snoozefest story of FO4 with the 9.5.

Both QB and UC4 bury that game on those fronts.

But whatevs, opinions and stuffs.

Can't not wait until Tuesday!

Well, he bailed out, so I took over the reins. ;)

Right, well sorry for thinking you thought it was unfair to compare, I momentarily confused you for the person I originally quoted because you directly responded to me.

It's cool. I'm the one who got in the middle of it with an argument a bit different to the one you guys were going on about, so I should've been more clear.

The technical aspects of a game are not the only thing the matters or even matter at all to some. Clearly the gameplay, world, exploration, etc. allowed Jim to overlook those flaws
