Uncharted 4 - A Thief's |Reviews Thread| Nateness Awaits

The QB comparison seems strange to me. They are both TPS games but that's where the similarities end I would think.

Haven't played QB though on the account of the PC port...

Is the combat finally fixed? The other Uncharted games had below average gunplay that kinda ruined the games for me. Hoping that was fixed in Uncharted 4.

He totally erased those great things by giving a game an 8.5? Ok.
No! By acting like that on Twitter I meant, wow, you guys will infer what you want to infer right? I quoted the freaking tweet screencap to make it clear I was talking about the tweet. I'm not mad or anything about his 8.5 review. I do think complaining about "mass murderer" in Uncharted games is a bit silly, but it's his opinion and I respect, I only disagree with that part and him acting like that on Twitter, problem is he's like that on Twitter every time he get a backlash, and I wish he wasn't.

Possibly because they're both system sellers. Exclusives to drive hardware sales.

Look at this thread and look at all the salt. He isn't wrong. At all.

I don't get why the QB and UC4 reviews are getting compared directly to each other just because they got the same score.

Ideally, a game should be judged based on how well it accomplishes what it sets out to do. Two 8.5's aren't equal.

It's how Roger Ebert could give Toy Story and Schindler's List four stars despite them being wildly different in tone, plot and created in different ways.

All of this! It's crazy talk to expect a reviewer to keep track of all of his/her previous review scores and use that as some sorr of benchmark for future reviews.

The reason for me quoting his shitpost is because he made a shitpost. I'm not randomly quoting any junior post am I?

I have no problem with you quoting his post, i would had too.

The problem is you calling him "junior" without a reason.

Just calm down...

I don't understand how anybody can think seriously UC4 is not better than QB.

I enjoyed QB for what it was, but UC4 is far ahead in basically everything it tries to do.

Absolutely not close.

And calling people shitheads because they disagree with an entirely subjective opinion isn't really a smart move, Jim.

I suspect a lot of the Quantum Break bashing comes from people who haven't even played it, given the platforms. Also layer on people who haven't even played UC4 saying it's the better game = people who haven't played either deciding based upon multi trillion dollar corporate loyalty.

Yes because surely people criticising QB must have never owned an Xbox One. That must be the reason.

Do you have anything remotely to back it up or just speculation?

shopto have put a review up.

It’s been a long time coming, but thanks to its jaw dropping graphics, storytelling and the performance of the actors, Naughty Dog have taken the bar from its current height and flew it into orbit, with the challenge for other developers now being to reach it. One suspects it'll be a long time before anyone does.

They say good things come to those who wait, but Uncharted 4 isn't just good, it's phenomenal!

Pros
+ Outstanding presentation
+ Some of the best voice acting around
+ Spectacular set pieces
+ Fun multiplayer
+ You'll want to play again

Cons
- It had to end

I find the mass murdering complain in games quite silly, if anything I only know two games that have a tiny problem with this because of their approach: Tomb Raider and Far Cry 3, but the deal last just that second where you think "oh ok, now I'm a trained killer, weird but let's move on" and that's it, is not that you're constantly complaining every time you kill another npc. It's a super ridiculous argument.

What I get from this is that people are stuck in their jobs or school and have nothing else to do but being on internet waiting to get home. I do it all the time and end up saying silly things because of it.

"Fucking moron. Quantum Break is a joke game. Couldn't finish it.

UC4 is in a different league altogether."

That is being a shithead. That's beyond disagreeing. Personal attacks on a reviewer for a score is embarrassing and pathetic.

the fuck happened to this thread gahdamn

Shit and something about magnets...

Quick, someone with level 10 photoshop skills put ICP makeup on Jim's face.

Humble, he is not.

Take your lumps Jim. Your comment in the review was asinine.

What's with the 'junior' comment...seriously I t's so patronising. A dumb comment is a dumb comment regardless of who wrote it.

I find it a bit cringe worthy directly calling someone "junior". but that's just me though.

Reminds me of that drama gta thread where a gaf member with the cyborg avatar was told to read the thread and he responded with a paragraph starting with "Listen, JUNIOR i don't give a fuck what other people think! I've been here longer than you don't you ever disrespect me like that again!" and he went on from there.

I wish i could find the hilarious post but had no luck with the search function.

Where'd that Chloe gif in the OP come from?

multiplayer twitch stream.

Look at this thread and look at all the salt. He isn't wrong. At all.

But i think it's important to separate why people in this thread had a problem with his review. Only two or three posts (at least as i remember) were salty because of the score.

The other posters had a problem with his opening paragraphs and the Nathan Drake "mass murderer" narrative. One thing is not directly associated with the other.

Edit: And just like that, thread is going downhill.

I agree that the the Uncharted series is joked/spoke of more in regards to this than the TR reboot.

That's probably because it's been around longer and for the RoTR the talk was more about A small vocal portion of Sony fanboys whining then subsequently laughing at its sales. That took the stage for its attacks from detractors and people just trying to stir the pot in general.

All of this said its obvious UC4 is a great game and is getting a boatload of respect overall.

No reason to take things so personally

TR encounters are like 5-6 dudes usually, Uncharted sometimes had you fighting well over a dozen. Plus Lara is freaking out, while Drake seems unphased. To add to that, the new TRs are M rated so it isn't sanitized "get hit and fall down" violence, which can ironically be more off-putting because death seems more trivial.

I like both games, but I think TR handles this aspect better for the most part.

I'm in bed and I can't fall asleep . Close enough.

Drop the QB shit sons, this is an UC4 review thread. And lay off the personal attacks/elitism...this shit ain't worth it.
I like how QB was not even in the picture before that Jim twitter quote was posted lol.
Now, back to that 8 that edge is gonna give this game now...

You mean the one moment where she cries for two seconds then doesn't give a crap for the rest of the game and starts even taunting the enemies? :P

Granted, the psychological reprecussions may have been explored in RotTR, but I haven't played that.

Tbh, this whole ludonarrative stuff is just silly to me.

One thing I can't stand is pretending to be above the confrontations you invite.

In regards to his review, I don't mind if he mentions "ludonarrative dissonance" or the "serial killer" argument or whatever you want to call it. But if you are going to dock a game for it, be consistent with all your reviews. Holding a game to higher standards is not something a reviewer should be doing.
