Really? All of them? There are like 20, and there are more good ones than bad ones.

The animated The Dark Knight Returns Part 1 & Part 2 did a better job of telling the story Synder was trying to ape, and was a better film. I say that with zero hyperbole. I'll take that, Wonder Woman, or Superman vs The Elite over Batman Vs Superman any day of the week plus twice on Friday.

Seen 3 and they were all just really poorly done movies. I would even hazard to call them "movies" since they just felt like some shitty Saturday movie cartoon from the writing to the animation.

It surprised me more often than Civil War did, that's for sure and not just with who was in the movie, I need to watch both again, but for now BvS comes out on top, not by far or anything, but I just enjoyed it more.

I'm the guy who thought Jurassic World was a better franchise update than The Force Awakens
(still do, so suck it haters)
, but even I can't fathom a world where someone would think that BvS is better than Civil War.

yeah this is GAF people I know in real life watch stuff that is rated 2.5 on IMDB every day.

Are you saying you know BvS is horrible but people you know in real life still like it because they have bad tastes or something?

I saw BvS a few days ago and respectfully, I disagree. BvS is an awful movie with some decent moments sprinkled throughout.

The terrible pacing, questionable editing, weird acting (I mean no offense to Jesse Eisenberg - he’s a good actor but in this movie, he doesn’t fit the character he plays, it’s like they want Lex Luthor to act as the Joker when he isn’t supposed to), lackluster villain, bad ending, forgettable score, story issues…etc.

I haven't seen Civil War yet and I'm really hoping this movie won't pull an Age of Ultron (everyone loved it before it came out, then once the reviews hit and overall impressions came in, turned out to be a poor to average movie at best IMO). From what I see, this movie is really good, a complete reversal from BvS.

Edit: Just saw Civil War last night (5/6/16) and I easily stand by my original statement - BvS is still awful and Civil War is fucking awesome.

Nah.

But honestly both are closer in quality than I would have thought given the buzz behind both movies, IMO. This speaks more to how surprisingly good-despite-itself I think BvS is than Civil War's quality though, since I think Civil War is really enjoyable at worst. They're incredibly, incredibly different films though, to the point where I have trouble holding this comparison because they might as well be in different genres. BvS tried something different for superhero movies and half failed half succeeded, whereas Civil War feels like the culmination of everything the genre has been doing for the past decade.

I thought civil war was quite boring and a bit too long. Also my theater experience was ruined by shaky cam action and 3d.
But it's a well made film

Bats vs supes was hilariously grimdark and over the top. Loved the batman parts of it. But was entertaining for the wrong reasons. Still if I had to re-watch one of them...
I'd go for BvS, I'm with you OP :)

We really need to take a stand and stop comparing these two movies. It's not beneficial for anyone.
It's a perfectly valid comparison. Two movies within months centered on two heroes getting into a physical and idealogical conflict.

One does it exceptionally well, and the other is a trainwreck.

I'm saying that GAF has standards way beyond any of the people I meet in real life, most people in Austria are reeeally easily satisfied when it comes to movies and tv shows. Probably because they watch it dubbed, it is terrible no matter what.

Okay...that's fine. But there are 22 other films, not including the ones tied to the shows from the 90s (Mask of the Phantasm for example was released in theaters).

Some of them are definitely bad, but that's a pretty small sample size. I could understand writing them off if they were made by the same person. But there are different writers and directors.

How is this even a thought is baffling.

Hell I'd put Green Lanturn of all shits over BvS if not for Batfleck and WW making the movie tolerable.

Now, now we're on to something. I used to watch old Hong Kong martial arts movies back in the day and they were all subtitled. It made it very difficult to assess whether these people could act or not. Thankfully, I wasn't watching for the acting- so I enjoyed them for what they were.
Constantly watching dubbed movies sets the bar real low.

I actually enjoyed Green Lantern more than BvS.

But that's like comparing a spanking by the hand or the belt.

I'm gonna re-watch Winter Soldier now, then rewatch Civil War, it has been a while since I have seen Winter Soldier, going to see Civil War was impulsive with a friend. I'm pretty sure I'll like it even more then and it may beat BvS, but damn that movie was so entertaining.

Will drop pants for Sony.
I have to disagree with the OP. Batman v superman was not only a bad terrible movie but also disappointing on how awesome if could have been if given to directors like the Russo brothers.

I liked both equals amounts.

I did saw BvS twice, and Civil War just once, but that is because BvS just gets funnier everytime.

Civil War is objectively a better movie than BVS but I still I enjoyed the latter more lmao. Why?

Wonder Woman.

I teared up when she fought Doomsday. That's how excited I was for the character to finally appear on the big screen. I don't even care if her solo movie ends up being mediocre I'm gonna get my life either way.

Civil War made me excited for the Black Panther movie though which is nice. Chadwick Boseman is hot as hell.

Loved the
Martha save
scene in Batman v Superman, not the whole premise but the action. That's about it.

Civil War was just next level.

yeah I don't nitpick in movies at all, usually I always stay positive, especially if I already love the characters.

I was so glad when Batman woke up after shooting guys, that really bothered me, but yeah not perfect cg in a comic book movie? yeah I'm cool with that.

davepoobond

you can't put a price on sparks
I mean, ignoring every other metric, Civil War has the benefit of not having Jesse Eisenberg's nails-on-chalkboard acting in it, so it's got it beat right there.

You need a jolly rancher

I haven't seen civil war yet, OP but i liked batman v superman. It gets shit on more for bad reasons than good ones

Batman vs Supes was a better for sure. Just came back from watching Civil War. It's a great film in it's own right thou.

The bit I loved most about BvS was the arrival of Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman and the excitement of her arrival wasn't in Civil War so I guess I prefer BvS too. Finally seeing the best Batman fight on screen in the warehouse near the end was a long time coming and we finally got it so thumbs up there too.

Civil War was alright for me, but I preferred the previous two Captain America films and when Robert Downey jnr pops his head out of the Iron Man suit it is the worst looking thing in these two movies, just bad unfinished cgi there.
