So what is the deal between this whole Asus PG348Q versus the Acer X34 Predator?

It seems like they are almost identical. I am looking to upgrade to G Sync but have no idea which to choose between those. Any one have experience with either, or ideally both of them?

Asus got the much better QC. Just a much more refined unit with the same specs.

Not really. The Asus has all the same problems reported with the X34. It does have a better OSD, but that's the only improvement I can think of.

Unless you have a brand preference, I'd just get whatever is cheaper.

What are the same problems, the only thing I know about is the bleed in the corners. I just picked up my Asus and it has a very slight bleed, no dead pixels. This is by far the best screen I have owned. The Asus software utility that comes with it makes it very easy to quadrant your work-spaces. Plus being able to overclock it to 100hz is a snap.

After getting a hands on with both Asus and the Acer, I don't see how you would choose the Acer over the Asus...

hey guys just need some help running witcher 3 on my ultrawide. I got the fix from wsgf but everything I start the game my video and hud settings reverts back to my previous configuration. Can someone help? thanks.

Backlight bleed, scanlines, and coil whine are the main problems. Based on what I've seen in the owners thread on overclock.net the QC of the Asus is no better, it is a complete lottery.

I agree with this. I originally bought the acer Predator and had some issues. Gysnc was not working correctly as I still saw screen tearing. I returned it and got the asus 348q and it seems perfect.

I haven't seen it mentioned much here, but is it worth it going for 1080p 21:9 (2560x1080)? I've read comments on other sites that say that it's stupid, and not worth it, because of the lack of pixel density. The frame rate drop is much less severe though, only about 10-15FPS. 21:9 sounds really cool, but at the same time, the performance requirements for 1440p 21:9 (3440x1440) are a bit scary.

I don't really want to have to be on the bleeding edge of graphics tech all the time to get decent framerates and graphical fidelity. Also, you know, money.

As long as you don't go too big, 2560*1080 is fine. I've been using it on a 29" screen for over a year now and never regretted buying it instead of a 3440*1440 one.

Yeah, I'm thinking 29". Is the LG 29UM67-P still a good option, or is there something better?

A few weeks ago I bought this and have been loving it. Don't be fooled by their advertising, it does not support 75hz at 2560x1080 out of the box, but there is some lesser resolution that does. I've read that a lot of people have overclocked it with Nvidia's custom resolution settings and that 2560x1080 works at 75hz, but your experience may vary. I haven't tried with mine because my rig isn't really built for 60+ fps and I really don't care that much.

This one is the best deal yet based on general consensus ?

Do we know what's coming this summer/autumn yet and that may have a better price range/less bleeding or scanlines issues ?

There are some ultrawide DP 1.3 panels coming with native 100/144Hz refresh from Samsung and AUOptronics.

I haven't heard of any actual products based on these panels announced yet though. Probably the holdup has been the lack of DP 1.3 support on GPUs but now that Pascal will support it we should be seeing some new monitors later this year, or CES in January at the latest.

Thanks for the heads up just picked one up at the Dallas Micro Center. They had 8 of them. Once I get settled, I will take pictures and post. If anyone wants a picture or info of anything specific let me know.

See if you can get a price adjustment.

The price just dropped $100 at Microcenter.

Ok thanks.

If it's another 1300€ anyway, I might just go with the models that are now at half the price, without Gsync and more Hz, but let's not be greedy.

wondering if someone could post some pics of non-supported games running with black bars to see how they look
They just look like 16:9 games.

That said, if the game tries to stretch the image in Fullscreen mode and your monitor doesn't have the ability to automatically adjust the image, you have to drop to Windowed mode to maintain aspect ratio.

Just ordered myself a U3415W. More so for the KVM feature than anything else.

I want to be able to use the same keyboard and mouse across both my work laptop and my gaming PC. I have two monitors currently, and finding a KVM that worked across two monitors with minimal latency for gaming has been a nightmare. Based on reviews, this should do the trick. Excited for it to get here next week.

My bad, I wasn't all the way through the thread yet and found some more pics along the way. Thanks, it was more of a worry wondering if it would be too weird to play a 16:9 game on it. I'm getting a GTX 1080 so I'll need to get a nice one of these to compliment it. Hopefully around November I can find a deal on one of those $1300 ones. Maybe by then the quality control will be better too. Until then, I push my $150 (2010?) Acer G235H to the limit!

Guys... There's a Dell U3415W - 3440x1440 curved 34" screen.

First, is this panel good for gaming?

Second, it's the cheapest such panel I've seen so far at $750, should I wait for a Gsync panel with similar specs, or go for this.

Looks so nice guys... Stellaris and Doom on this thing would be so glorious :0

I just joined the 21:9 club

I can't go back to anything else. How did I get through life without this!!

If you're in Europe, Fust sells the Predator Z35 for 799 $. It's a massive steal at this price.

Anyone have Doom working on an LG 34UM95? I can't get the game to do the initial boot. The screen goes black and I have a mouse cursor.. that's it.

It's a generic Windows 10 setup with NV980 and this display.

I have the same monitor as you and Doom is working fine for me. Working very well actually.

i7-4930k @ 4.10GHz
16GB RAM
2x 980 sli (not working at the moment so I'm using just one card). 95% 60fps at ultra settings.

Thank you for confirmation. It's usually the biggest potential issue. I've found hundreds of pages of this issue on the Steam forums with various suggestions so working thru that.

I am new to this tech. Could someone help me make a descion on these super low budget options.

One of them is an open box

Or

or

What does the added 'P' mean in these LG displays?

They seem pretty similar in terms of spec.

I believe the P models have Freesync. Don't quote me on that, though.

The first model, the 25UM57-P, is quite old. The second one, 25UM58, seems to be slightly newer, but lacks Freesync. The third one, 25UM58-P, is the same, but with Freesync. I think.

You might want to check out the latest versions, with the UM68 or higher branding. It seems they've redesigned the stand, and I think those ones just launched, in April. There's a review of that model on YouTube, but it's not in English. :/ Not sure if there's differences behind the scenes, though.

Google the model numbers, you should get pages with the individual info and specs, as well as reviews.

I found a used 34um95 on Craigslist for $450. Should I buy ? I don't even have a compatible video card. Waiting for the 1080x to come out so prices go down

I recently got the LG 34UC88 and it is glorious. Sure my Fury can't maintain 75fps in all games, but with Freesync, it doesn't really matter!
I did adjust the Freesync range down to 40hz. I have no idea why it's 55-75 out of the box. There's a small amount of backlight bleed but it's so small it doesn't bother me.

The gun models in Doom at 21:9 are stretched, at least from the gameplay I've seen. You should check out the Flawless Widescreen fix until
/ if
they do an update

Just got this recently, and 21:9 is god tier. Every game benefits from it.

DOOM supports 21:9 just fine. Will check out that flawless widescreen fix though!
