I'm playing UC2 right now for the first time. I'm playing through on Crushing difficulty. I just got to the beginning of chapter 12. Is the part you are referring to further ahead?

Much further. Chapter is called The Monastery. It's the part where a big door is locked, and you have to climb around. Elena asks you to be "subtle." As you climb around you'll start a fight in this tower, and once you reach a low floor, the whole thing will collapse, with people coming at you across a bridge. If you have some grenades and a decent weapon with ammo like M4, should be fine. But if you waste it all fighting in the tower as you climb down... you can get screwed after the collapse. Checkpoint should have been earlier!

Are we allowed tomorrow to publish playthroughs?

Yeah the barrage of spoiler thumbnails for videos and articles is incoming. I'd especially keep away from facebook/twitter walls.. and if you like websites like ign/kotaku/n4g just avoid them.

ALSO AVOID COMMENT SECTIONS ANYWHERE YOU KNOW AREN'T MODERATED LIKE NEOGAF.

I've heard some say UC4 is the best looking video game ever.

I was just playing Rise of the Tomb Raider on PC last night, which is, at its best moments, absolutely mind blowing visually.. And I'm having trouble imagining how something on PS4 will look better

I guess we'll see, though

It's the animation that does it. They animate so many small details in the environment and characters that you never thought was missing.

When Nate is climbing obstacles with a partner and there's not enough room on the ledge for both of them, he plants his feet on the back of his partner's knees and holds onto their shoulders while they struggle to hold his weight.

Nobody else puts that kind of attention to detail into visuals.

Now I'm going to be manufacturing situations just so I can see this :)

I think ROTR looks amazing too on PC but the thing that makes UC4 stand out imo is that it's consistent in it's visuals, the detail is immaculate and the animations/physics are on another level. In ROTR, only Lara and I think the bad guy looks good but everyone else has that "NPC" graphic level detail. IN UC4 EVERYONE on screen looks fucking amazing.

Yeah, animations are untouchable. Facial animations too

Tomb raider was underwhelming to me graphically.

Plus some pretty amazing art design.

Nothing beats hearing that main theme for UC1 for the first time.

In my opinion I don't think Henry Jackman or Naughty Dog had the rights to use the original Nate theme for Uncharted 4. That's why the soundtrack is completely different and also has a more darker tone to it considering this is the final game.

Is that an opinion? Or is it true?

They use very clear elements of UC1, 2 and 3 throughout the game. It also has the best overall soundtrack of the series, it's easily the most varied and developed.

Unhcarted 4 will have more universal appeal just like The Witcher 3 did over Bloodborne despite having the same score.

It might beat DS3 because it's a colossal achievement as well, similar to The Witcher 3 over BB.

exactly. thus my skepticism as to how UC4 can be the best looking game ever, which I've heard multiple people say

Finished the game yesterday and people who haven't played the game have not seen this game looking its best yet. There are some completely unbelievable moments.

High res shadows aren't going make your game look better, when the art design is lacking. UC4 looks better for me, played rise of the tomb raider on PC at 60fps and nearly max detalils.

I have both games and I think UC4 looks better simply because of the animations, art style and attention to small details and physics. It looks too damn good. ROTR looks good too but it has pretty bleh animations, everyone except lara looks graphically crappy imo.

Have you seen anything to show you it isn't? Everything I've seen in the game looks amazing.

I have seen some video clips on youtube like most people, but I haven't played the game myself or seen it at length.

The animation is very strong but as far as the overall presentation I've seen nothing, at least not over youtube, that convinced me that it was better looking thann ROTTR on PC (and yes, I know a decent PC is much more powerful than a PS4, but I'm responding to the statements I've read that peg UC4 as the best looking game ever).

I'll make a final determination once I actually play it. ROTTR is also very strong in the animation detartment, by the way, and the detail of Lara is somewhat astonishing

Just an opinion. When I found out the original voice actor for Harry Flynn didn't return because of contract disagreements, I figured a similar situation happened when Greg Edmonson didn't return so Naughty Dog weren't aloud to use it.

Oh okay, I get you. Well, if you'd like to know (Soundtrack spoiler, just in case)
Nate's theme doesn't get used a lot and when it does, it's quite sombre/introspective.

Is there a way of turning recommendations off on Youtube? I just noticed I had 'what the end of UC4 meant to me' in there and I'm sure someone will have a far more revealing title in the next day or two.

Does the game force and encourage to move or will we hear complaints about this being cover shooter once big crowds start to play this?

I've heard people say that it heavily encourages movement especially with the new slide and rope. Also heard that ND removed the grenade toss back to encourage movement, but that's not 100% confirmed; at least to me it isn't.

One of the retailers in my country is hosting a launch party with over 500 U4 related rewards! We will have the chance to get our copies around 23:00 on the 9th of May!
Can not freaking wait the fridge is fully stored with drinks and i will play until i fell a sleep!!!

Definitely. Enemies do a good job flanking, and cover is often destructible. They also removed the ability to throw back grenades, which again encourages movement by forcing you out of cover.

A more valid comparison won't be possible until Tomb Raider comes out on the PS4. It's an easy bet that Uncharted 4 blows it away.

Uncharted 4 on a PC would be godlike, but that's not happening.

I might the only who never cared about this franchise music lol

TLOU on the other hand had great tracks that I can easily remember.

glad I won't be disappointed in it.

Yeeah, can't say I remember a single song from U2 or U3. And I just finished them both a short while back.

So the OST complaints are really a non-issue for me.

They should've done a more extensive embargo for the media until launch day. Maybe allow DF article to go up early but that's about it. It's gonna suck for those that get spoiled.

Well you'll be spoiled either way depending on where you surf the internet. You got to be smart in browsing the internet to avoid spoilers. Basically avoid social media, youtube/forum comments on the game, etc.

It doesn't look like the best looking game at all times, but there are so many moments where you're just like how in the heck are they doing this? It's a combination of everything together that makes it stand out, animations wise nothing even comes close right now.

Yeah, I'll be unable to play this for awhile even after its release, and I'm wondering how to handle that now. I've got YouTube comments disabled, I've got this Chrome extension enabled to remove YouTube recommendations that are part of videos, and I'll need to figure out the homepage - I think an Uncharted 4 Part 3 video popped up there a day or so ago.

It's going to be a rough couple of days on the internet. I'll have to spend as little time as possible on it, at least until the Uncharted 4 hubbub calms down.
