Don't be.

Driving 40 minutes to the launch event
Having to queue 1 hour to get the game
40 minutes drive home in the dark of night

None of the above is worth it unless I win a PS4 or the trip to Tokyo.
Haha, still you get to play it earlier than me. I have to take a train back to Ipoh from KL on Thursday night to enjoy this masterpiece the next day.

So to anyone who has finished it, would you kindly tell me if there's a lot of Elena in the game? Her role gets smaller each game as new characters get introduced, but she's probably my favorite character in the franchise.
I don't need an actual number, just a comparison to the first 3 games.
I'm hoping for Uncharted 2 length(fat chance she'll be in it as much as the first game), but I'm assuming she's in it less than she was in Uncharted 3. I hope I'm wrong.

Can you please stop asking leading questions like this. Is it really that difficult to understand why we don't want the answer?

amazon hasn't even sent my order yet...wtf???

Got my Libertallia edition yesterday..this statue is a thing of beauty.
Only got to chapter 4 so far but i am very very very happy from what I've played so far.
I am so excited it is finally here! Unbeliveable almost 5 years of waiting finally came to an end.

Upped my shipping info to same day delivery. No way in hell am I going to be able to avoid spoilers for more than a couple days once the media embargo lifts.

Haven't been this excited for a game in a while.

A few reccomendations for those of you who just got the game to get maximal enjoyment.

1. Redefine what setpeices mean to you. The bombastic in your face set peices exist in this game, but the bulk of the new set pieces are there to impress you from your environments, interactions, and the jump into an all new world. In short, if your waiting for the next thing to go "boom"- this won't happen nearly as often. However, if you play the game with the intention of- and this might sound redundant- exploring or CHARTING the world- you will find youself blown away.

2. Do not marathon this game. Uncharted 4, is similar to the Last of Us in that it asks you to take a step back, recollect, and take inspiration from your environments, encounters, and actions. An 8 hour session will just leave you fatigued because you are consistenly exploring, learning about characters, and finding yourself solving another puzzle. This a 16-20 hour game- the legnth of two seasons of your favorite television show. You cannot, no matter how commited, fully appreciate something like this with an intent to finish it as fast possible.

3. Readjust your definition of the franchise. Uncharted 4 is more ADVENTURE than third person shooter. In fact, a majority of the game is spent absorbing the environments and invoking the sense of discovery. That sense and wonder of reliving history is unquestionably the strongest point of the game. Previous Uncharted games would throw you into combat with wave after wave of enemies, however this game does away with that for far more thoughtful, directed, and well designed enemy encounters. There is less action, but when it's there its infinitely better than the previous games.

4. DO NOT play this game on the hardest mode on your first play through. The medium setting is hard enough, and frustration will kick in because you'll want to find out what happens next but can't seem to defeat the current wave of enemies. This is a testament to how well designed the AI is, and how the game asks you to approach a situation. Leave the ultra critical thinking to a second play through.

Wow that's great! can't wait to play this masterpiece.
The game is in Iran from 2 days ago, but sadly prices are too high. normal games prices are 215K-230K in first days, but U4 is between 270K to 330K. :| If you convert it to dollar, its about $80,90.

MashAllah. The same thing happened to the Last of Us, God of War 3, and Grand Theft Auto V in Pakistan. The demand for those games in Karachi drove it up to 100 dollars. If it werent for some cool contacts I had at the time like PGDarkLordMalik on GAF, and some cats there - I would have ended up spending a lot of money.

Buying legitimate games and not pirating in that country was something really hard to do.

as someone who finished har dmode on his playthrough, i highly recommend it. normal is far too easy
Yeah I just wanted to chime in and agree. Hard is hard as nails, but moderate (medium) is ridiculously easy. It simply doesn't pose a challenge as long as you're using common sense. Duck into cover when you're going black and white, otherwise you don't really need to think. I was very surprised by how easily I was able to run and gun and straight up melee enemies in moderate compared to hard.

thuway's point 3 is concerning, since combat encounters have always been the best stuff about the series' gameplay, and whenever U3 got away from them for too long, the game became a less-than-stellar walk-a-thon (sometimes in chase form).

2 used non-combat the best, to break up the action, provide a breather, and let the player take in the sights. The stroll through the village, the Nepal temple "puzzle," and even the museum were great sections -- visually, pacing-wise, atmospherically. But they worked so well because the action _around_ them was so relentless and tactical, and there was a _lot_ of it. 3 had plenty of action too, but essentially the first 10 chapters were mostly "exploration" with only a few fights. They swapped the balance in that part of the game, and the result was stultifying. I know a couple of casual U2 fans that quit U3 as they go to the shipyard.

Nevertheless, IF it's really true than the non-combat aspects in 4 are truly exciting and well done this time around, perhaps I have no reason to be concerned. I'm certainly open to that happening but am rather skeptical as well. Reviewers these days do tend to shit on linear walk-fests, and they seem to praise 4, so, again, I am cautiously optimistic.

From what I read in the impressions topic is more or less the same as the other games.

Their just alot more to the game besides combat this time.

I stashed my PS4 away, so won't be able to tell you. :"(
Ah its fine :)

You'll play it and you'll be able to judge for yourself. I will say that encounters in this game are far better thought out. Most encounters give you a myriad of options, weapons, and verticality to dispose of the enemy. The enemies aren't stupid either and will flank you, disturb your "sitting" duck tendencies, and geometry will break around you so you have to be quick on your feet. It feels a lot like MGS V as well because you will get caught and the best posible solution is to find some tall grass and hide in it until you can reformulate a new strategy.

Great tips, heard too many times to go on normal as well so I won't make a quick poll in the impressions thread like I planned to :)

I'm assuming this game is about as sweary as previous instalments? Shits, sonofa's, etc? No f bombs? This is a 'play on family Tv while family is around' game and I just wanted to check it wasn't too adulty

uncharted and dark souls are both spectator sports in my house. Perhaps unlikely bedfellows.

There is plenty of swearing but it's mostly in line with previous titles.

The non combat parts are great. There was a chapter without any combat whatsoever yet I was having fun just basking in the area with it's huge scale, the intimacy of you and the chartacter and the fun platforming. The visuals are cherry on top.

Seems like my place as well, a normal US disc (new release) is about $75 in US dollar. Vietnam btw. I think I will switch all 3rd party games to Steam in near future though, the price is getting more ridiculous here.

Yup! On hard you have to do way more than run and gunning, you have to use the environment to your advantage. Every little detail, object you see on your screen can be used to your advantage to either dispose all enemies or sneak your way through without harming anyone.

Uncharted 4 honestly features some of the best combat design in any game I've ever played. A few of the shoot outs take place in such amazingly dense, layered and dynamic arena's that they basically feel like giant combat playgrounds. You can pretty much immediately and fluidly switch been climbing, platforming, swinging, stealth, cover shooting, melee, flanking etc on the fly, in a much more fast paced, effortless and polished way than any shooter I've played before it. It can be impressively liberating, to a degree that is beyond near enough every other shooter.

Couldn't agree with this more, just beat the game myself. Naughty Dog's level design has always been top notch, but they have really outdone themselves in a big way here.

Is Crushing unlocked from the start? I assume not, and that was only for the remasters?

Also do we have any idea on how much things cost in relics in MP yet?

Apparently, crushing is unlocked at the start, but ND is afraid enough that it'll ruin your experience that they greyed it out (as if it's locked) and give a little are you "suuuuuure sure sure you wanna do this?" message.

Cool that they give the option straight up for those that want it.
