Brian Altano's attempt to cast a negative shadow on UC4 was really off putting. We know he is Mr.TR, but he came off pretty biased. He is quickly becoming me least favorite member of an annoying group of people. That's hard to pull off considering the company he keeps. The bright side was the Australian chick was not on the podcast, boy she is grating.

the australian lady goes with the flow, shes so is laid back, i dont know if i can agree with grating...

WTF? I am gonna flip the fuck out if I get an email saying some shit like that.

They never received any yet they started taking orders for them again last week? Makes no sense. How is your open orders page messed up?

*edit Amazon just charged me for the Libertalia edition so they must have it in stock. I think you were lied to.

I'm hoping it was a lie. My open orders page just gives me an error saying it can't display orders.

I had emailed about why the game hadn't shipped and this was the response:

I have checked and found that this item is "Temporarily out of stock". I am sorry but it is not possible for me to inform you that when exactly this item would be shipped as we have not received this item from the manufacturer. I can assure you that once this item would be available, I will immediately send you the confirmation email along with the estimated delivery date. The manufacturer typically supplies the item within avail estimate of an order being placed.

If you'd rather cancel your order, I understand. To cancel your order, go to the URL below and click the "Need to cancel an item?" button:

Fucking Best Buy hasn't even shipped my order yet (it's been "preparing for shipping" for about 2 weeks) Anyone else? Wtf. I'm hopeful the game will still arrive on time, ordered weeks ago.

Same here. Don't expect it to arrive tomorrow. Prepared for playing it only on the 11th.

Waiting on Amazon to ship my copy. My status is "Shipping Today" so hopefully they ship it sooner rather than later. I'd like it to get here not super late in the day tomorrow.

Mine is on the same status. I won't get to play it until after work tomorrow, but it will probably be delivered anywhere from 11am to 4pm.

I wanna say yes, but realistically the supermarkets system wouldn't even allow them to run it through the till if the wanted to until tomorrow. I want to believe too :(

Wait what? it unlocks in 2 and a half hours?! I wish I knew before, the download would take me at least 3 days.

I might go see and then try get it via the self checkout system instead of staff assisted till

Kinda OT but do you guys think ND will release any PR regarding sales this week? I'd have to assume this game is going to sell big.

Hey, I heaped tons of praise on the game in that 40+ minute conversation. I also had a few issues with the game that are worth discussing as my cohosts had similar ones. There are dozens of perfect score reviews for you to read out there if that's what you're looking for. I spent 16 hours playing Uncharted 4 and really like a lot of it but didn't like other parts of it. That's a completely OK thing for me to document on my show.

Not ND, but almost guaranteed that Sony will have a big first week sales PR surpassing X million copies, etc etc biggest launch ever etc.

Is this a podcast you regularly listen to? If so, why?

"General fixes and improvements."

Always best to see around before downloading the patch. I remember TLOU patch for day 1, it was playing perfectly before with no problems and then after installing the patch there was a glitch where nothing autosaved. Speaking of which did ND even fix the trophy glitch problems with TLOU?

Mine hasn't changed. It still says shipping soon. I am in Boston so i don't know if they have a local shipper and will ship it out tomorrow.

Why do you keep listening if you don't like them?

I'm actually pretty happy with IGN's current editorial staff.

Everything you and the rest of the team said is completely valid. Some folks are just having a really hard time accepting the fact that not every single person in the industry is heaping unanimous praise onto the game.

That Beyond review episode was great. I felt like they gave a very sober and concrete sense of what the game was and was not, as well as how that meshed with their individual expectations.

Naughty Dog won't be (outside of something general like 'biggest launch!', but SIE certainly will if it is in line with their expectations.

It's all cool dude. I'm sure I and the vast majority of Uncharted fan's are o.k with some people not liking Uncharted as much as others. Like any other damn game out there - hell even Zelda and Super Mario 64 has their detractors - there will be varying opinions on a game. Only a small but vocal minority make a fuss out of this.

Having said all of that, criticising some of the reviews is also valid, especially one's that make factually incorrect or dubious claims.

Really annoyed by the new trend where Streamers get to play shit early. As well as people wanting to watch someone else play a game like Uncharted instead of playing it.

Bleeding Cool 9.3/10
However, these things, are only speedbumps on a really satisfying adventure. Despite not having played the series before, I still had a great time with Uncharted 4. It’s such an interesting time period for these characters and the franchise, it almost exists as an action packed epilogue to a legend. It’s not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but the world it paints so beautifully, and the assured confidence with which Naughty Dog strides, is intoxicating for a player. It takes a while to get going, and can come to a halt when forcing you into combat, but it’s hard not to just enjoying everything else this game is doing. It’s one of the most impressive AAA titles I’ve played in a long time, and it is well worth the adventure to see how this Franchise signs off.

I cancelled my amazon order this morning, and purchase U4 on PSN. About a month ago I was given a $20 psn code as a gift and last week purchase a $10 code online for $7 thanks to that thread.

Now I get to play tonight :D

Damn, that sucks. I have had games ship the night before release and still get them from Best Buy with next day air.

Best Buy actually shipped my order on Friday and it is actually out for delivery via USPS today. I should have it within the hour. First time I am actually receiving a game before release and couldn't be happier that it is Uncharted 4. Cannot wait!

I almost wanted to buy digital so I could play tonight, but I like physical copies too much and I really wanted that steelbook case and the artbook.

'Compared to the previous game, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is an almost flawless experience on the PlayStation 4. Sure, there are a few clunky control dynamics such as interacting with the environment but overall Naughty Dog should be commended for putting together such a well-made game from start to finish. It’s emotional, it’s powerful but more importantly, it’s probably going to be the most memorable game of the series with a theme of
redemption and forgiveness
!'

Spoiler tagged the bit at the end, just in case someone somewhere considers it a spoiler!

I think the weighting of discussions on certain shows, podcasts, let's plays etc can sometimes skew things to appear more negative than they often actually are, Eg the amount of time spent discussing negatives vs positives, or comparing to other games to highlight those negatives etc. The same works the other way too, where some might spend so long talking about certain positives of a game, the viewer gets the false impression the said person really likes the game, when overall they still actually don't. Though the latter tends to happen far less often.

Regarding the podcast in question, I do think the discussion overall was pretty decent, though there are some points of disagreement from me. Having just come off the back of playing the Uncharted Collection myself, and then having played UC4, I can't agree that it's completely just more of the same, nor that it should have even needed to have that big 'new' direction or feature, that would have completely set it apart. At the end of the day it's still a sequel and not a new IP, and ND weren't exactly going to completely alienate their fanbase with something completely different. That's where I felt the open world and upgrades discussions and comparisons to other games like Tomb Raider, might have missed the point a little. As a gamer who myself is getting absolutely sick of open world, collectathon design, which I feel is this generations fad, I for one am glad ND kept UC4 overall still fairly linear and focused in nature, especially when Last of Us already expanded on that area already.

I'd also argue that tonally and mechanically, it does still offer a noteworthy evolution from past games in the franchise. The more open ended combat encounters, improved gunplay, animations, more realistic AI, the ropeswing mechanic, vastly improved stealth, rock pick, underwater swimming, vehicle driving segments, improved melee and tag team ally contextual additions, more mature and sombre narrative delivery etc. I think maybe you're taking too much of this evolved gameplay for granted. Go back to UC3 or UC2 now and the difference in mechanical and gameplay quality is actually pretty stark. Not to mention so many of the key components of UC4, Eg driving, stealth components (long grass), ropeswing etc are just completely missing.

Looks like my Amazon copy ain't gonna be here by tomorrow as well so I'm gonna go pick it up at a local GS for midnight launch! Play the fuck out of it, and then return my sealed copy to them for full refund once it gets here. I can't wait for this shit man lmao.

It's kinda sucks that I have to actually wait after the game comes out to see the Brandon Jones narrated video reviews now.
