iam8bit to release the Uncharted 4 OST on vinyl - preorders open and art revelead on May 12

It's not even got the main theme though >_>

I got the Everybody's Gone to the Rapture vinyl yesterday. One of my favorite game soundtracks in a long time and it just sounds so fantastic.

E: Uncharted box is a selection, but it's really good. I thought it was totally worth the money.

Yup, it's a selection and not the full OSTs.

Thanks. I think Ill get it if I enjoy the OST to UC3. 1 and 2 are good but june is hell for games and I'd rather not buy too much soon.

Doesnt the trilogy set have like a selection OST only and not the full one? I would buy 2LP Sets for UC1 and 2. Not played 3 yet (this week)

Yes, and it only has the first Nate's Theme :/

I would buy 2LP versions of the whole series, or a proper 8LP boxset for the whole series.

While I'm at it -- up to chapter 8 -- I already think Jackman did a much better job with the soundtrack than the pretty bad Civil War one, so I'm relieved.

Uncharted is a big enough IP to warrant a full release imo.

Either way Ill take a call on saturday whether im getting the set or not.

Do people have recommendations for turntables? I honestly wouldn't know where to start, and even though I could borrow one of a friend's *many* DJ turntables, they're hardly aesthetically pleasing.

Pre-amp would need to be included, but maybe they all are these days. I dunno, it's been that long!

Not too many decent tables come with a preamp included. You could check out the Audio Technica LP120 and U-Turn Orbit, though. The LP120 has a built-in preamp while the Orbit gives you the option of adding one to your order (I believe you can even choose whether it should be internal or external).

I second the LP-120, I certainly have no complaints about mine. You can also user you own preamp with it. I think it's a pretty good value.

For a cool $130 in most places you can get a Pioneer PL 990, it includes a preamp. I really enjoy mine, as I'm on a budget!

I don't think the picture disc will look as good in real life as it does in the picture. Think I'm leaning towards the normal Editiom.

Normal, but it still looks pretty spectacular. Got mine ordered. Went for the good old vinyl release. Picture discs just don't quite meet the same sound.

For anyone that is after the Avery Coin Variant on Uncharted 4, just keep trying throughout the day. I think it is a similar situation as the Ori vinyl in that they are releasing more copies onto the store throughout the day.

It said sold out for me and after I refreshed my page about 10 minutes ago was able to pick up a copy. I bought both versions and plan to listen to both to really find out if there is any significant sound difference.

I really don't like picture discs. I wish they'd make exclusive variants that were different color ways with superior sound quality.
I'm pretty sure iam8bit's primary vinyl audience is people that buy them to put them on a wall.

At least it was just an alternate this time.

That said, I do have the Bit.Trip record and it sounds good, but I don't exactly have the kind of equipment that the differences may eek out.

Has anyone in Canada gotten their Black Materia Vinyl yet?

Mine is MIA almost a month after shipping. Just curious if Canada post are just walking it to my house in Victoria, BC.

Thanks.

Has there been any word on a vinyl release for Mirror's Edge Catalyst? I'm a huge Chvrches fan so I'm pretty keen for one
I'm sure it'll be released as a single or EP by itself.

Speaking on that, Chvrches's new album was one of the first records I bought when I get back into vinyl.

I'm in the same boat with the Street Fighter 2 box. Waiting patiently...

It was actually the album that made me start buying vinyl :)
Neat. Mine was a blind buy based on them being a synthpop band from Scotland (which is analogous to one of my favorite bands of all time, Bis). I was on the way to Oklahoma City with friends to check out their craft beer scene and stopped at a record store in Norman, they had the "indie record store" variant for $16. The store owner even demoed the Spin Cleaner for me and gave us recommendations on Oklahoma beer to try. A good memory on a great trip.

Time to make everyone laugh at me.

Mine (the first one I bought myself) was this - http://lpcatalog.com/content/items/singles/artwork/2003sib_1000.jpg

My dad has a huge vinyl collection but I never saw the point and saw this in tower records for 1 pound around release. lmao.

Well since we are sharing stories, the album that got me into vinyl was Hotline Miami 2.

At least I strictly only buy videogame vinyl. You have to draw your boundaries somewhere.

I haven’t seen anyone post about this new turntable yet, it sounds really cool. From the VYNL folks, comes TRNTBL (via Engadget):

TRNTBL (we should've seen this coming), is a belt-driven wireless turntable that connects to your speakers, headphones and other devices via Bluetooth and AirPlay. Despite its claims, the gadget isn't the first wireless turntable, as both ION and Audio Technica have Bluetooth-equipped models of their own.

So what's the hook here? Well, TRNTBL identifies what's playing on the device while its spinning, so you can share it via your various social channels. It also shares what you're playing to Spotify, at which point a couple of things happen. First, it builds a playlist of what's spinning on the gadget based on that identification process -- similar to the collection that's automatically built when you Shazam songs. There's also a "Tune-In" feature that lets your pals follow along on the streaming service in real time or access the playlist from the beginning you've started. VNYL says the feature is kind of like Periscope, but for music.

What's more, the turntable works with Sonos' audio gear, streaming uncompressed audio to the speakers just like you were pulling it from Apple Music, Pandora and others. Finer details are a bit scarce for now, but if that's enough to temp you, TRNTBL is up for pre-order now for $351. It's set to ship this summer, and when it does, the price will jump to $420. You'll have the option of two colors, though both the black and white models feature gold accents and hardware.

Aesthetically it looks nice, especially the black one. And the thought of placing a turntable anywhere and have it work wirelessly with any type of speaker sounds right up my alley.

I pre-ordered the black version, and that pre-order price is not too bad. Looking forward to getting my hands on this in the summer.

I do really like the look of that, but the wireless and social hooks are not appealing to me. I have been in the market for a new turntable, though...

Wouldn't that be going analog to digital for Bluetooth output and thrn digital to analog using whatever DAC that is receiving? Doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose of using vinyl?

Perturbator Dangerous Days was my first in August 2014. Now i have 402 vinyl records... things got out of hand (and out of my wallet)

Personally, I agree. Also I was told that they don't have any output jacks so you can't hook them the trntbl up to a set of speakers using wire (if you for some reason change your mind later). To me it seems that you can get a lot better value-for-money by getting a similar-priced Pro-Ject table (unless the built-in wireless feature really is a must-have).

Also, I'd strongly recommend waiting until these are out for reviews and in-store. VNYL's first project (a vinyl rental service) didn't exactly turn out as planed and left many people frustrated (read more here: http://www.stereogum.com/1801049/vn...ice-is-such-a-mess/franchises/sounding-board/).

Whenever I check my subscriptions and see a new post in the thread by rpbtz I assume a new album has been announced for vinyl lol.

Heh, sorry for disappointing you ;)

It's been a pretty slow couple of weeks for new announcements. Which is totally okay with me - it's been a crazy year for announcements so far. Off the top of my head I think we're close to 50 known upcoming releases for this year - and we're not even halfway through yet.

Fwiw, lots of stuff in the pipeline here too, but we don't wanna announce too early ;) Hopefully very soon though.

That's cool - early announcements can definitely have both pros and cons (but I guess you already know that ;) ).

But I'm very excited to hear what you're working on :)

Guys, I'm thinking about maybe starting to collect some Vinyl records (games and general music) and I'm a complete neophyte.

What would be the best quality/price player available?

If possible with speakers included.

Not looking for something crazy... A good "starter kit" let's say.

Thanks!

Hi Mega, glad to hear you're interested!

Honestly, the Audio Technica LP60 is a great starter turntable. Some people shit on it but you can't really get better for <$100 unless you get lucky at a thrift store or something. Definitely don't get something with built-in speakers though.

It's all good now, I realised at home my old man (who's very much an audiophile) not only has his classic Yamaha turntable (which is the shit, I can assure you) but also has an old belt drive Technics which I forgot he had! There's no cartrige or headshell for it, but I'm pretty excited that there's one practically waiting for me.

It's an SL-23, which apparently seemed to be one "back in the day" that was fairly common, but I'll take a "fairly common" old as the hills turntable than any newer one.

Just need the space a turntable and speakers. A "listening station" if you will. I'm personally thinking the study, but whatevs.

Edit: This is apparently the one. I don't remember it looking this good though!
