Gran Turismo Sport Unveiling live stream discussion (incl. FIA Championship gameplay)

That is really cool. I see that this is considered a super in depth feature, but I find it's omission in many game makes setting the camber obnoxious. It should be kinda basic.

It is one of those things that become part of a bigger system where you kind of have to start modeling everything to make anything work well. Like the earlier dynamic weather discussion. It is pointless to model dynamic weather if you can't also model dynamic track/surface conditions. Otherwise it becomes just a blanket, "the entire track is less grippy" Same with a decent tire model. If you want to start accurately modeling degradation, you need to start modeling heat, if you want to start accurately modeling heat, you want to model tire pressure. You can also start at any point and end up with the same need to model them all. You want to start modeling tire sidewall rigidity? Same situation, you will end up needing data from more than just one point to make it all work in a believable way. Or you know, just not do it and fake it and get close enough. But then you start losing that "sim" aspect.

Both. When racing, the telemetry is giving you surface temps, but surface and carcass are all being modeled. Once you pull into the garage, you are able to see the carcass temps as well, just like in real life once the tires could be probed. There may be some 3rd party telemetry plug ins that let you see real time carcass temps, but from my use of it you get surface on track and carcass in garage. My main use of tire pressures is with the skippy since there isn't much to tweak in the setup, and I found I really can get it dialed in for my driving style when I adjust some pressures.

Ok, derailing... whatever. I want to post this from rFactor's tire model (early 2011!):

Excellent point. That said; a car for me is just a tire holder. I think if someone could get down and get the tires simulated correctly, the rest could be more accurately simulated. "Bottom Up Simulation", literally.

There's another one but it's just of the menus.

I'm uploading it now. It might take some time tho.

Who will be the Hajime Tabata of PD? Who will save us?

Give Kaz a Tourist Trophy remake to keep him busy and throw the reigns to someone else.

Nooo, they took it down before the actual Nurb gameplay was uploaded ;____;

Taking down those videos is counterproductive to the shit they showed in their official trailer. Dumbasses.

Decides to take down direct feed footage of game that was showing of its graphics better and keep that trailer.....

Is GT Planet a paid a paid Sony/PD partner?

No, but they have a really close relationship. Its the GT fan site and PD pay attention to the forums there.

Maybe the negative press has finally reached the execs at Sony, leaving Kaz to do what ever he pleases has led to this. Time to reign him in, the game should never have been shown off in its current underwhelming state. The comparisons to other games really hit home how little had changed.

There are no excuses any more while developing on PS4

Pretty sure it isn't, it's just that the site has become the #1 go-to place for Gran Turismo news/discussion and PD grants them some exclusive access and interviews.

Worth mentioning that they do openly and strongly criticize PD's work, especially so since the GT5 issues were not just minor window dressing. Like anywhere else there's super fan defenders though.

I'm there since 2004 but those are new things that you are saying ;)

I think it happened somewhere mid GT5 -> GT6
Jordan is especially close and the site has written official products for the series. There's even a voting system for cars, tracks, and features the community want so PD can see.

Its one thing to diss a video game without having all the facts, its a whole different thing to pretend to know who is responsible for what and throw around blame.

You are right , but they never did use any input they had got.

Did that Q&A with Kaz on GTplanet ever happen? I remember seeing loads of great questions but never saw any answers unless I completely missed it.

I hope this game gets delayed. It needs it. Im a huge racing fan and this looked downright horribly and completely lifeless. My grandmas ringtone envokes more excitement than the in game music....and graphically speaking ....well...no point reiterating what everyone else has said.

Sooo... they are deleting gameplay vids, which to me look pretty nice, but leave that terrible trailer of truly embarrassing quality on the PS channel to grace the internet? I really don't understand this. Not at all.

I always had a feel that it was a closed door demo with some changes over the public demos, not to be revealed yet but in a some future event. Probably some misunderstanding with the guys at the event, PD and GTP.

I'm pretty sure that's a pre-alpha or alpha game state, it looks absolutely inconsistent and plain bad sometimes. The framerate goes down for no reason, no wonder they decided to take down every video posted. I just don't understand why the fuck they decided it was a good moment to make a dedicated event to show the game like that... kinda pointless. Just wait for E3 or something.

Also, from the gameplay vids we've seen, some tracks look decent, some look bad, and the sound is just so bland. There's no 'agressiveness' to the engine sounds.

Wow, they have so much to improve it's not even fun.

I said, I wanted to do my best to shut up about the sound until a review release or demo shows up, but...

what game have the guys from evo been playing?

SOUND

Finally, after a multitude of disappointments, Gran Turismo appears to have sorted its audio out. It might peg itself as the ‘real driving simulator’, but having a Le Mans car that sounds like a hairdryer doesn’t really do justice to that title.
While playing the preview we made sure to drive cars that we’d actually driven in real life. The Golf GTI was close to the real thing, but the GT-R was absolutely bang on. Gone is that strange flat drone that Gran Turismo used to love so much, instead the GT-R’s twin-turbo V6 actually sounded like the real thing. That slightly digital tyre squeal has also gone. It does need more volume though and that irritating background music has to go.

Lol I posted the link on GTPlanet and they threatened to ban me.

"Post another link to that and you will be taking a time out."

Absolute mess.

Yup. GTP is a PD PR mouthpiece, nothing more. They wont do anything to upset their privileges which brings in the cash, which is absurd because its to the detriment of the game which is untimely to their detriment.
