There's no 100% certainty he won't. People who say otherwise are being very silly.

As of the current time and polls, he doesn't seem to have great odds, though.

Was there even anybody left in the race? Can't say I'm disappointed he won the GOP nom but let's hope a Democrat wins the presidency.
 
After Tuesday's primary he was still like 30 delegates short of clinching. What happened yesterday/today that got him to that magic number then? Was there a primary in a US territory that I wasnt aware of or something? I thought we'd have to wait for June 7 primaries for him to get to that number.

Not to beat a dead horse, but look at Hitler. He was laughed at and nobody took him serious, and he became fuhrer.

But Germany had 3 main parties back then, and we still have a 2 party system. Chances are slimmer for Trump, but he has to be taken seriously.
 
I'm Irish and my mate wants Trump to become president because he thinks "Americans deserve it". I tried to explain how disastrous that would be for many Americans and internationally too but he wouldn't listen.

Curious - which part would be hilarious? The increased persecution of Muslim Americans? The surge of vitriol towards the Latino community? Or the sight of British leaders kissing Trump's ass to appease his volatile ego?

Even if you aren't American, I think hilarious is an odd reaction.

Oh I totally agree. I think the "he'll never win" mindset is downright dangerous. Get enough democratic supporters thinking that and they won't bother to vote.

Then guess what happens! AMERICA BECOMES GREAT ONCE MORE!

Republicans have a system where they can basically bribe certain delegates legally for their vote.

Only fools think that. Every expert has been wrong about Trump with their polls and demographics. Being the nominee in a two party system gives him a shot of winning. He's also going against fucking Hillary Clinton.
 
jesus - i'm so disappointed in society and our politcal system. i really don't understand how no candidate was appealing this election - and how these are the final two we are have to chose between.

i really don't think he'd do 4/5s the shit he says, he just knows how to play to certain people

Clinton would do well to nominate Sanders as secretary of labor. I think that -- and a few other progressive cabinet nominees (Loretta Lynch is fantastic.) would bring just about all Sanders supporters on board. He'd probably jump at the opportunity, too.

As for the current secretary of labor -- Perez is probably on the short list for VP.

I'd like to see a less bellicose and interventionist department of state. We haven't accomplished much in Afghanistan after 15 years of occupation, its still the failed state that it was. Clinton should also publicly denounce Ergodan, Netanyahu and King Salman.

I realize that everything in the second paragraph is a fat chance given her past statements and actions.. so I'd definitely be on board with the progressive cabinet appointments.
 
GAF democrats here's a hypothetical for you. Say it's October 31st and the general election is a dead heat, looking to be truly 50/50 between Trump and Clinton. A shadowy international group approaches you and gives you the choice: You can let the election play out and hope Hillary wins, or we'll stop this whole thing right now and swear in Mitt Romney.

To be fair, when it was the beginning it was as likely as Kanye's claims to run in 2020.

But after his first few wins, yes. People should have been more aware.

There's still people in threads saying "impossible" to the idea of him getting elected. Still! It's mind boggling.

Haha I remember people all laughing when they said he was running, even here from friends and relatives here in Aus, I told them don't be so sure, you might be in for a terrible surprise.

I'll say it again now, if you think Trump in the White House couldnt possibly happen....brace yourselves.
