AP: Clinton clinches Democratic Nomination

If you look at the scroll in the first video Hillary was actually winning the popular vote when they called it for Obama

Man oh man, I don't even want to imagine if Sanders was actually winning the popular like Hillary was....

Oh my god.... the..... oh man. It would be a mess right now.

Nope. SDs dont vote till July. Mainstream media continues to liquid shit the bed with inaccuracies.

Sanders disagreed with you back in 2008, though!

"I plan to play a very active role," Sanders said of endorsing Obama, according to an interview in the June 5, 2008 Burlington Free Press. "I will do everything I can to see that he is elected president."

But the newspaper added, "Sanders said he held off supporting either of the Democrats [Obama or Clinton] because he has made it a custom not to support any Democrat for the presidential nomination until the party had chosen its nominee."

Obama clinched the Democratic nomination on June 3, 2008.

Clinton did not formally end her presidential campaign until June 7, 2008.

liquid shit the bed with inaccuracies!

AP is stupid. Bernie's statement is right, super delegate votes are not locked in and pledged delegates have yet to put Hillary over the top. It's just dumb to make a call prior to tomorrow's primaries.

She is going to be the nominee, but let the process play out.

There's nothing stupid about it. You don't have to trust the AP, but according to their reporting, enough superdelegates have committed themselves to Hillary to put her over the threshold (in combination with her pledged delegates). That's a new development, and it would have been bizarre for the AP not to write about it.

Amazing news ! So glad for Hillary.

Now you guys can all focus on the GE and make sure that Trump never ever sets foot in the White House. Don't fail the rest of the world, America.

One girl had this amazing statement to CNN in response to Hilary becoming the presumptive nominee: "That's your script dude, everybody on the internet, social media, there's all this polling out there and you guys are just straight up lying, it's a blackout"

So its down to either Bernie going 3rd party/Independent and people voting for him or people won't vote for anyone or.. Or vote for Trump and send a message

Oh that is just precious.

I assume the reporter told her that tweeting @ somebody doesn't count as a vote?

This.

That picture is all wrong. Hillary Clinton never said she was going to bomb our roads and bridges, so that's go nothing to do with infrastructure. And who the hell is that guy on the right? The picture says it's about the candidates, but there are only two Presidential candidates shown, Trump and Clinton, and some random dude.

Weird shit.

Congratulations to the first female nominee for President ever. She deserves it...she has worked for 4+ decades in service of others and has seen an amazing amount of the world.

Assuming she wins in November, don't count on a guaranteed 8 years. Re-election will be super tough with her unfavorables. Run scared all the way through 2020 IMO.

AP called the nomination for Obama June 3rd, 2008, on the basis of his superdelegates. Press called the nomination for Kerry in 2004 when Edwards dropped out, 1000 delegates before he had enough to win. Bookies paid out on Obama's win over McCain several days before the election. It's OK, Megyn Kelly doesn't need to visit the decision desk to assuage Karl Rove's anxiety.

I mean, we're the day before the California primary. Just let those people vote. That's all I'm saying, really. I just don't see how this announcement tonight does anyone any favors. It's not helping Hillary and I don't think she's pleased with it, it's certainly not helping Bernie and his displeasure should be quite obvious. Certainly, it's not the AP's job to make anyone happy, but just let the people vote and make the call tomorrow. All it looks like now is someone placing yet another finger on the scale the day before the thing was going to end anyway.

Super delegates are a thing but they probably shouldn't be, or not to the extent that they are. And their votes are still fluid, which is another absurdity. Clinton has the pledged count lead, the popular vote lead, everything is in her favor, but until at least tomorrow's votes -- and because Sanders has not yet conceded -- she has not locked up the pledge count victory. Let that happen, then make the call.

The establishment better be careful or they just might start a political revolution on the Democrats side. Eagerly hoping for rhetorical fireworks tomorrow.

As a Sanders voter, I wish the best of luck to Clinton. Can't let that raving, bigoted orangutan anywhere near the White House.

I was trying to find out when the AP called it for 2008, and it looks like it was in the afternoon on the day of the CA (and other states) primary. You really think calling it a day before the primary is acceptable?

For what it's worth, I don't think it should've been called that early in 2008 on the basis of SDs, and calling it even earlier this election cycle in the midst of a tightening CA race is questionable IMO.

The tightening California race is irrelevant at this point.

Hillary Clinton has a 300 delegate lead over Sanders. Bernie could WIN California outright and he still wouldn't win enough delegates to pass Hillary, and Hillary would STILL win enough delegates to be declared the nominee. She was only 24 delegates away from the nomination as of this morning.

I can only imagine how fucking obnoxious I would be if this was my first election.

Being able to stump for Obama twice really was a privilege.

God we need better Poli Sci education in this country.

Got my cherry popped with Kerry in 2004, thank goodness. I was confused about that election back then, so I sympathize with some of the Sanders folks. People put a lot of emotion, time, and money into these candidates and somebody has to lose. That's the game. Bernie has a lot of really passionate supporters. Might take a little bit, but I think the majority of them will see where their best option lies.

I'm seeing posts on other sites about donating more money and I just want to scream "No!" at them.

I'm not voting from Trump either. Probably won't vote at all.

Sorry, but this is stupid (Unless you live in a deep red state). I dont like Hillary either. She's a liar, a flipper, and packed with special interest influence.

But it's pretty bad when she's the safer bet against Trump. It goes beyond identity politics, etc. Call it lesser of two evils if you will. I know I will. But you really should do your part. It sucks, I know. But nonetheless, it's necessary.

So its down to either Bernie going 3rd party/Independent and people voting for him or people won't vote for anymore or.. Or vote for Trump and send a message

Yes, they could go the Susan Sarandon route.

Anyway something I learned from living through previous elections is that all these tiny details that seem to matter so much in the moment will one day soon be forgotten in a blur.

I like you.

See that's the biggest thing that gets me. I'm all for grassroots support and donations backing your campaign and being it's primary funding. I think it's supremely admirable.

But he's basically been stealing these college kids money for the last 2 months.

Poor bastards. Literally throwing their money away.

I doubt you'll find many people arguing against waiting until tomorrow to announce her clinching the nomination. The Democrats, Obama, Hillary, they all wanted to wait until tomorrow, otherwise they would have rolled out these extra supers themselves.

But the way you keep talking about this looking like fraud is what's annoying. You have to have an incredibly warped worldview to think there is any wrongdoing here.

I'ma break it down for you: by the end of this year someone has to be president. It's unfortunately not gonna be Bernie. So we got Hillary and Trump. You don't like both but I'm gonna assume you hate Trump more. Vote Hillary. Don't even look at the vote as an endorsement, look at it as further reassurance that Trump won't be president. Then follow whatever Bernie does after this election. We all know he'll be up to something and it will be exciting knowing that he's not gonna be fighting another Democrat. Maybe he'll bring Killer Mike.

What are each and every one of them hypocrites in regard to?

Stumping for a candidate that has no chance instead of stepping in line of the party their candidate CHOSE to involve himself in while backing green at the local and state level instead of voting for people who actually might win the elections they participate in is hypocrisy.

Because it's not putting yourself truly for progressivism, it's voting out of spite. You're not changing the country yuo're just making it easier for those that will drive us into the dirt to destroy it with more ease.

Let these people vote for Trump, let them do whatever they want. Nothing we say will convince them otherwise because they don't care, it's really about not caring when it comes down to it. Thankfully I'm quite confident that nearly all Bernie supporters, like yourself and I, are reasonable people that will stop Donald Trump at all costs.

They called 2008 48 hours before Texas. Texas isn't California, but who cares? Just like Bernie's exit timing doesn't matter, neither does the timing of calling the victory. It's just not a problem.

So then there's no nominee until the end of July even if 90% of the declared superdelegates are declared for Hillary and she wins on every other measure because maybe Bernie will be able to simultaneously flip all the superdelegates to his side and win? I don't really think that's a scenario we need to hold off on. If something happens like Hillary drops dead of a heart attack or the ghost of Chris Kyle arrests her for Benghazi or something between now and the convention, the party will have to find another nominee whether or not the AP has called it for her. That wouldn't be unprecedented either; RFK died on this day in 1968 as the probable nominee.

Oh my God. He's never going to stop is he? The Bernienator.
.

On the night Hillary lost, mathematically, she delivered a statement saying it wasn't over yet. Five days later, she endorsed Obama. No campaign is going to announce that they've lost until they announce that they've lost.

What are each and every one of them hypocrites in regard to?

I don't know what that person was alluding to, but I think it's massively hypocritical to support Bernie Sanders because of his science-based position on global warming, but then turn around and support the largely anti-vaccination, anti-GMO Green party, whose positions can quite literally help spread famine and disease on the world by denying science.
