AP: Clinton clinches Democratic Nomination

Can't wait for that speech later tonight after Jersey is called. With her clinching and Bams joining in very soon, it's gonna be a hell of a fun week for Dems.

And most importantly, we can finally ignore Bernard for good. He and his supporters can make a stink all he wants about contesting this or that but it doesn't matter one bit anymore. He has zero leverage and no one needs to bend over backwards to placate their bitter and idiotic sentiments. This election can easily be won without them. Bye!

I can't wait for your pivot to Trump.

You have your work cut out in order to internalize and defend all the racist bullshit Trump has and will say.
1. As far as Sanders goes, it is not over until it is over.

2. I don't have to defend anything.

3. Sanders or Trump will get my vote this fall period, of that I am certain, and it shouldn't matter who I vote for, as it shouldn't matter who you vote for, and it shouldn't matter whomever anyone else in this thread votes for. We all have different views and needs, and we can continue having that without needless added separation or hate. Yes, like others on this forum, I am waiting to see what happens comes DNC time. I've no shame in that, and it's no reason to hate.

How can you vote for Sanders or Trump ? They're just complete opposites, policy wise.

I mean yeah, but that does not mean that people cannot call you out on who you are voting for or what your views are if you air them in public. If I knew someone who voted for David Duke, I'd hold their feet to the fire and figure out just what the hell is wrong with that person.

Yes, it should matter who you vote for. Voting for a racist means you are at the very least indifferent to racism.

1. You are not a troll.

2. You will get called out on your support of Trump if you wish to participate in this forum.

3. You basically can't come into a discussion forum and tell everyone you are voting for a racist and not expect people to call you out on it.

4. You will be defending a known bigot for 6 months.

Person who will vote for Trump in the fall wants to hold different views without added seperation or hate.

It's all kinds of amazing and ridiculous.

I'm convinced Huelen is just a bot that spills a bunch of shitposts from various parts of the internet. Like that Twitter experiment thing, but just on NeoGAF.

Anytime that dude is confronted with the fact that he has no idea what he's talking about politically, or feels even slightly uncomfortable, it defaults to OPINIONS BRO despite wanting to discuss those same opinions.

Hell, in a previous topic, dude was trying to pretend like he was so against antisemitism. You can find that one on your own, but it's cute how he wants to preach peace but proudly supports Trump (instead of being smart and voting third party - his words).

Ivory tower.

Tomorrow I will probably be banned from r/SandersForPresident

1. As far as Sanders goes, it is not over until it is over.

The majority of people - actual people - who have voted, seem to have voted for Hillary. There comes a point where someone denying the will of the majority - no matter how slight it may be - is churlish. It is over for Sanders. It's over when you compare numbers of registered voters, it's over when you compare pledged delegates, it's over when you compare super-delegates.

But do not discount that we have low voter turnout after 8 years of a solid president that lost both congress and the senate. We need every vote, we need unity within reason. Complacency is our enemy.

Why shouldn't I discount it? Primary voter turnout is a worthless metric.

Of course 2008 had higher turnout. It was a far more competitive primary than this year. Hillary is demolishing Bernie compared to the narrow run that Obama had over her.

Not to mention that if we are blaming Hillary for lower turnout, we also have to blame Bernie and his lack of appeal to any but a small and highly erratic demographic group.

I have no idea how any of you Americans can vote for any of these people.

Like you have the choice between a nutjob and an absolutely terrible person.

Don't forget that Huelen is also a queer jew. Why a double minority would vote for the King of the Racists and Homophobes is beyond me.

I'm still confused on how the fuck you go to trump from sanders. Literal opposite on the political spectrum this race. It's like none of their platforms even come into the equation.

I love how people from other countries are so quick to judge us, when actual primaries like we have in the US are a rare thing worldwide.

In most European democracies the parties just pick what candidate they think is best with little or no input from the people.

Chris Hayes tried to get a Bernie surrogate to understand this situation. Basically a scenario in which the positions were reversed with Bernie in the lead on pledged, popular vote, and supers and then all the supers flipping to Clinton or the DNC just giving Clinton the win (basically what Sanders is lobbying for). Surrogate was having none of it and just reiterated the whole "there were a lot of supers who pledged to her before anyone else joined the race", though the impassioned voice they used in the prior rant was diminished a bit.

I wouldn't take anyone who says they will vote for Trump seriously until much closer to the election.

Their candidate just lost (or is about to, depending on how you see it) and in the heat of the moment are willing to say "burn it down". It's understandable and even human. Most will change their mind before November. A lot of Clinton supporters said the same thing about Obama, and a majority of them ended up voting for him in the end, because 5-6 months of Trump being a racist bigot is going to be a very sobering experience for a lot of people. He isn't even attempting to pivot for the GE.

If your candidate is Sanders, I urge you to look at how far backwards we'd move as a nation if we put a bigot in the Oval Office. You don't change systems from the top down, you do it from the bottom up. If even half of the people who support Sanders voted in mid-term elections it would be an absolute blowout and you could put people with ideas you support into office. That's how our nation works, it's also why people have called Sanders out for not doing much for down-ticket candidates (until recently, and even then not much)

With his sway among millennials he could likely have huge impacts on a bunch of House and Senate races.

Bizarre. I'm from the UK and if someone tried to do what Bernie is doing now in this country, he'd just be cut-down by the media and politicians alike. What's even worse is that he's using language which has the possibility of disenfranchising registered voters, making them believe it's fixed. It's an arcane process, but it ain't fixed. Gore losing Florida and the 2000 election was more of a fix than this.

Huelen is whatever he or she needs to be at the moment to fit the other side of the conversation, especially if it disrupts the conversation.

fixed

He has rarely responded to me when I confront him, that I can say.

that's what happens when your arguments are untenable

i did have a huge laugh at the one thread where he was confronted and stopped posting saying he was "too emotionally compromised" to respond to any criticisms 😂😂😂

Please raise your hand if you still take Huelen's posts seriously and don't believe he's a troll because I have a bridge to sell you.

Well, mods don't believe he's a troll and I honestly don't think he is.

I honestly gave the dude the benefit of a doubt for a really long time but there's just no way someone is as ridiculous and irrational as he is, and with such consistency.

And holy shit am I thankful for that since these US primaries are the biggest political dumbster fire I have ever seen. I like my political process to be as far away from this American Idol inspired popularity and shouting contest as possible.

How did she clench the remaining delegates before people could vote in today's primary?

What changed from yesterday and an hour ago?

This is basically the downside of any democracy.

Crazy people can elect crazy candidates.

She needed about ~22 delegates to get it and AP actually called every superdelegate left and the result was Hillary crossing the # needed to get the nomination.

Well, mods don't believe he's a troll and I honestly don't think he is.

That's when you stop responding. He's either A) a troll, or B) an unconfessed racist, misogynist, and xenophobe. Whatever it is, there's no point in giving him attention because neither deserves it.

I have no idea how anyone can equate Clinton and Trump and basically posit that they're almost equally bad.

Not that Clinton is perfect, far from it, but in what galaxy is this a case of lesser of 2 evils?

Trump is a borderline fascist, racist, failed businessman with several bankrupcies, pathological liar, likely con man with several suits for Fraud under his belt, bullying and intimidating his way around, and with constantly changing views, including some that make no sense or are just plain dumb/ dangerous...

Boggles the mind.

I think people who refuse to justify why'd they vote for Trump are mindless cowards.

But I also believe that if they did give a genuine justification in their opinion, then there would be a high probability that they would be banned. So they absolutely must keep quiet. Because otherwise if they do not it would be clear that they are racist apologists or racist themselves.

I guess what i'm not grasping is, because of the Superdelegates she's been the presumptive nominee for a while.

And I'm just not following why it's suddenly a big deal.

One of the more embarrassing aspects of this primary is the shockingly dumb and smug opinions my fellow Europeans have made on the democratic side. Without any understanding of context or even basic American politics and history people have rushed to proffer forth their opinions in a way that just looks bad.

We also like to ignore the rise of the far right in Europe as well, be it in France, Finland, Austria or the UK.
