It's completely reasonable. Memories can get blown out of proportion, facts can get fuzzy, exaggeration can come into play. It's good to have a "hard" backup (pun intended), to show to friends that may think you overreacted, or whatever the case may be. It's also a reminder of what she did, to help you move forward. So there can never be a, "Was it really that bad?" Or whatever. Once the smoke clears, he can delete that shit and move on with his life.

They always come across as juvenile and condescending. Not all people get closure from having an emotional conversation with their ex. All options have potential advantages and disadvantages. Yes, adults talk – but adult also pick their battles, set their own boundaries, and are allowed to decide on a course of action that they believe is best for them. All choices might turn out to be wise or unwise but sanctimoniously advising ‘adult’s talk’ is condescending and useless.
